Unboxing
My Lovehoney Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator arrived in the usual discreet outer packaging for the post, while the toy itself was housed in a glossy card ‘Lovehoney purple’ box with an image of the product and plenty of details on the sides and rear.
Inside the box you find the Lovehoney Rose Toy in a plastic Ziploc pouch, along with the charging lead and a couple of guide leaflets.
Instruction Manuals
The Lovehoney Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator is accompanied by two fold-out manuals.
The Safety Instructions leaflet details all your general safety guidelines when it comes to charging/recycling the device as well as how not to use the toy, while the Manual provides usage instructions, cleaning & charging info plus instructions for the travel lock function.

How To Charge Up
The Rose Pleasure Air Toy is easy to charge up using the included magnetic/USB charging lead. There is a note around the charging lead when you first take the Rose and accessories out of the box, saying not to use an adaptor with more than 5V output.
There are two metal nodes on one end of the charging lead, which magnetically attach to corresponding metal areas on the reverse of the Rose sex toy. The other end should be plugged into a USB port of your choice. I like to use the USB port on the side of my laptop in my home office, or the multi-USB to mains plug at the side of my bed. These are extremely useful and I strongly recommend everyone has at least one. You can buy them cheaply from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.
A white LED behind the power button blinks while the toy is charging, changing to emit a steady glow once fully charged. When it’s at 100& power, the Rose sex toy should provide 65 minutes playtime. However, you’re advised not to use it for more than 15 minutes on the same area.
I’d advise labelling the charging lead in some way immediately upon unpackaging the product, so that you can easily identify it when it gets tossed into your drawer or box of charging leads. I use my trusty DYMO labeller which is available from Amazon.com or Amazon.co.uk for all my sex toy charging leads – and plenty of other things around the house, too.
Size
The Lovehoney Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator measures 3 inches (8cm) in height, with a circumference around the widest part of the ‘bud’ of 7 inches (18cm).
How To Operate & Settings
There are two buttons on the front of the Rose Pleasure Air Toy; the bottom one is button A (the power button) and the top one is button B (function button). To turn the Rose sex toy on, press and hold button A for a couple of seconds. The LED behind will light up to show that the toy is in active mode. Press button B to start the clitoral stimulation functions.
There are 10 settings in all, 4 increasing intensities of constant clitoral ‘pleasure air’ stimulation and 4 patterns/pulses. When just checking out the settings before use, they sounded quite bassy and I had some concerns about how discreet the Rose toy would be during use.
To switch the toy off from any setting, just press and hold button A again for a couple of seconds.
Travel Lock
A travel lock is an especially handy feature on motorised sex toys that you may decide to take away with you on travels. Being able to ‘lock’ the toy from accidentally switching on gives you peace of mind while it is in your bag or stowed away in luggage.
To activate the travel lock on the Lovehoney Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator, press and hold both button A & button B for 3 seconds. The Rose sex toy will buzz twice, and the LED will flash twice, to show that the lock is activated. Repeat the same process to deactivate the travel lock (the LED will flash twice to show that deactivation has been successful). Charging the Rose Pleasure Air Toy will also deactivate the travel lock.
How It Feels
I really love the Lovehoney Rose Clitoral Suction Stimulator, and actually prefer it over the lilac Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Clitoral Suction Stimulator which I reviewed recently. Before using them both I wasn’t sure which I’d prefer, or even if I’d have a preference. Perhaps the rose design was simply a novelty which added plenty aesthetically but no practical orgasmic value. They’re both clitoral ‘suction’ stimulators after all.
Some of my preference for the Rose sex toy over the lilac Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Clitoral Suction Stimulator could well be due to aesthetics. The red rose is my favourite flower, and red my favourite colour. More than that though, I found the Rose toy easier to hold and position over my clitoris during use. This made it easier to stimulate myself to the full body orgasm it provides, plus it was more comfortable throughout.
Comfort is definitely aided by the use of a little water-based lubricant. I put a little on myself before use but also apply some to the rim of the clitoral suction area on the Rose toy, so I don’t risk the discomfort of getting too dry or otherwise chafed during play.
The power/operation button is easy to locate even when the toy is delivering its effective stim between my legs, so I can easily change the intensity/setting without removing it from my clit and suffering a frustrating interruption to proceedings.
After the intense orgasm (which seems guaranteed every time I use the Lovehoney Rose toy), the outer petals of the rose come into their own. They’re fantastic to grind against as I ‘come down’ gradually from my sexual peak. Bliss.
I had been a little worried about the sound levels when I checked out the settings before use, as I mentioned earlier. The bassy noise emitted from the Rose toy when you switch it on is quite… permeating – it made me worried someone would hear something going on from behind a closed door/the next room. However, once the toy is in place against my body, it’s actually really quiet. So if discretion is a must when you’re playing with the Rose, my top tip is to get lubed up and the toy in place before you switch it on. And a duvet over the top always helps muffle sex toy sounds.
