I was given the Durex XL Power Condoms (also known as Durex Comfort XL Condoms) by Cara Sutra in exchange for an honest review. In advance I asked her whether the XL Power was referring to performance or size. It refers to size, which is good for my partner as he is on the large size and prefers to use larger condoms.

The Durex XL Power Condoms come in a standard blue, cellophane wrapped Durex box that clearly states the brand with its slogan ‘love sex’. It also tells you they are XL Power condoms and that there are twelve in this box. The side of the packaging states that Durex are the world’s number one condom brand and that their condoms now ‘smell better’.

The bottom of the Durex XL Power Condoms box has an expiration date stamp which you really need to pay attention to! Out of date condoms mean unreliable, if not disintegrated contraception! You also shouldn’t use a condom if the wrapper has been open a long time or isn’t completely sealed when you go to open it (damaged packaging). These particular condoms come in an attractive blue foil wrapper with the lot number, expiration date and type of condom stamped on each individual packet. This is pretty standard.

Now, the performance . . . Well, we both sort of felt it was exactly like using any other large condom. It wasn’t so tight on my partner which of course meant it wasn’t uncomfortable for him and it fit him nicely. These condoms are lightly lubricated (they usually are) and we added additional lube for intercourse. Overall we were both happy with the Durex XL Power Condoms performance but are left somewhat unsure as to what the ‘Power’ part of its name is referring to.

8/10 as I feel the ‘Power’ part of the name is quite misleading.
