Imagine my delight when I received an email asking if I’d like to test and review the B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug not too long after I first saw it online. After my (overly) enthusiastic reply I was really excited about the postman arriving with my new sex toy. Sex toys turn up all the time but they’re usually for the Pleasure Panel, promotional reasons or development prototypes; it was a novel experience and took me right back to my sex toy tester roots to feel that ‘exciting sex toy en route for me‘ thrill once again.
The B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug was sent quickly (thank you!), packaged safely and wrapped securely and discreetly to land on my doorstep within a couple of days. I immediately and eagerly began my latest sex toy investigation.
My Thoughts
I love this rimming butt plug so much… but I also hate it quite a bit too. Maybe not hate… but I’m resentful. My dream that this is the perfect butt-based sex toy was dashed by a handful of unforgivable flaws. I remain hopeful that the B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug will be fully redeemable with the right adjustments in a second version.
Why I love it
The B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug is beautifully presented, in a large, glossy, info packed box. Inside the main outer box there’s a supremely shiny+gorgeous metallic blue zip up carry case which holds the Rimming Butt Plug as well as it’s charging lead and instruction booklet. Oh yeah, the plug is rechargeable – no batteries required. Excellent.
The magnetic connection of the charging lead to the base of the plug is good, there’s no need to precariously balance it between books or cushions to get the pins to remain aligned throughout the charging process. It’s actually magnetic. Sweet.
The plug itself is black for universal appeal – gender, sexuality, relationship status, type of play session – and it’s made with the most beautifully velvety smooth silicone ever. Well that’s how it feels to me, in any case. It’s sublimely smooth. Unfortunately, it also seems magnetised for any dust in a metre ratio vicinity – but that’s not a deal breaker for me, a quick wipe down clears up that issue.
The B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug can be controlled by the power button on the base (turn on til it lights up then press again to discover the vibratey/swirly functions), or when you get to the ‘just lit up’ stage you can press the buttons on the included wireless remote control (battery operated – remove the safety tab in the battery compartment before your first play) to control the plug instead. This is easier for two reasons: there’s more buttons on the remote so you half have a clue what’s going on with the functions, and you don’t have to fiddle between your legs to find the control button during use. Just sit and play.

When it’s inside, and it’s on, and you’re going through the vibrating and bead-twirling options… Oh, my god. It feels fan-fucking-tastic.It’s also big, and I mean fulfillingly, satisfyingly, girthily, you-know-when-you’ve-been-B-Vibed big.

The not-so-great stuff
The size: Oh my god, it’s big! I may have mentioned this above. Yeah, the large size is fantastic for those who regularly shove medium-to-large-to-fisting-size dildos up their back end but if you’re either a butt play n00b or have generally have a more sensitive derrière then the B-Vibe Butt Plug might be a little too big for you.
It’s 6 inches in overall length, with an insertable length of 5 inches. The maximum circumference of the shaft is also 5 inches [dabs at eyes] and even the most slender part, the neck (where the rimming magic happens) has a circumference of 3.5 inches.
It’s worth noting, I think, that 3-3.5 inches is the maximum girth of a beginner’s butt plug or first time anal sex toy. You have to insert the maximum girth of this plug (5 inches round) before you even reach the most slender part, the 3.5 inch girth neck of this plug.
I’m no stranger to anal sex or anal sex toys, and I have to think twice before I reach for the B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug. Yeah, it feels delicious and orgasmic once it’s in place, but it’s definitely an effort to get it to that point. I need time, and to feel relaxed, and some lube – possibly some mid-session snacks on the side just in case. There’s no rushing this baby, I have to make sure I have a minimum of a half hour playtime available before I even consider using this plug. I’ve even warned my partner not to disturb me, I’ve locked the bedroom door and I’ve put on some background music to chill me out and cover my Doxy Wand clitoral warm up.
It’s shame as some might be considering the B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug as the next step, an advancement from the first forays into rimming, anal stim and anal sex toys – whereas I’d say that the rimming plug is really a size for anal sex toy and anal sex veterans. I would love to ideally see three sizes of B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug; small, medium and this as the large size. I do understand that there’s that-there technology to fit into the body as well, the swirly magic and the rechargeable motor, but the person using the toy at the end of the manufacturing process must be considered with compassion.
Waterproofness (lack of): My second and to be honest, most dashingly disappointing gripe about the B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug is that it’s not waterproof. Yep, an anal sex toy which is gorgeous silicone and rechargeable and it’s wipe clean only. #Fail
The manual says before and after each use clean carefully and thoroughly with water and antibacterial soap. But then on the next page there’s an advisory and caution telling the reader not to submerge the B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug, that it’s splashproof only. That’s when my heart really went through the floor with this sex toy. I actually got a bit teary (I was careful not to cry too much over rimming plug, just in case).
It’s ‘splashproof’ but I’m meant to shove it up my arse? Are the dishes we eat off just ‘splashproof’? Are your knickers merely ‘splashproof’? Perhaps they’re ‘wipe-clean only’. No? Then why is it acceptable to just make a splashproof, wipe-clean only anal sex toy? This thing is going up butts, people!

Note – The B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug is stated to be waterproof and shower friendly on the box and on the training guide. However, I checked with the B-Vibe company themselves via Instagram after reading the ‘do not submerge’ caution in the manual) and they confirmed that the B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug is definitely not waterproof and cannot be submerged.
Complex controls: I found the controls a bit complex to work out, or rather, to remember during use. It’s all very well getting them straight in my head when the B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug is swirling and vibrating in my hand, but once it’s doing the twirly dance of seduction in my bottom my memory is just a blank.
There are two motors in the plug, there’s vibrations in the shaft and then there’s the circular motion in the stem/neck.
Not being able to remember how many functions there are and how exactly I get to a certain one (or combination of two; shaft vibes and neck swirls) is most probably down to the fact the B-Vibe Rimming Butt Plug feels so fucking awesome when it’s in place and turned on. I lose all sense and reason and I’m just pressing the buttons on the remote to get it to feel the best I can in the moment. How can I be expected to remember exactly what all the functions are and how to control them when I’m being butt-vibed and rimmed so spectacularly? So… not so much a negative as just a.. fact of use for me, really.
Summary
The B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug is this close >< to being my favourite and, dare I say it, perfect butt plug. It’s made with a gorgeous feeling material, it’s rechargeable, it has a wireless remote control, the vibrations are powerful and the rimming function is butt-tingling-tastic.
It’s also quite possibly the most difficult sex toy I’ve ever had to mark out of ten. As much as I love it, I can’t really overlook the fact that it’s not fully waterproof – as well as the misleading information in this regard on the box (says waterproof on the back, splash-proof on the base) and online as opposed to what’s advised in the included instruction manual (and has been confirmed by B-Vibe themselves – that it’s definitely not 100% waterproof). It’s also far too large for an anal newbie in my opinion – actually, never mind newbies, even I’m hesitant to just grab it and play at any time without psyching myself up and checking my lube stock first.
With all of the above in mind, I have to score the B-Vibe Rechargeable Vibrating Rimming Butt Plug a generous 7/10, and that’s only because I feel 6/10 doesn’t adequately reflect the amazing sensations I’ve experienced with this sex toy. If three separate sizes were available (beginner size, medium and this being the large size), and it was absolutely without any shadow of a doubt 100% waterproof, it could possibly rise to 9 or even 10/10.
I’d love to hear about any new sex toys B-Vibe develop and manufacture, and hopefully ‘realise the dream’ when my issues with this plug are resolved in a future version.
