Sex Toy Advice

Sex toy shopping can be exciting, exhilarating, fantasy-inducing… and confusing. There are just so many sex toys available these days, with improvements added and different styles being created all the time. That’s why I’ve written these sex toy advice articles here at the Cara Sutra sex blog.

First of all, do you really need sex toys? Adult products are more of a desirable accessory than a need, and they’re most definitely not a replacement for sex. Nobody should feel ashamed about their sex toy use, or threatened because their partner enjoys using them. Hell, there are even plenty of couples sex toys available which heighten the pleasure levels for both partners during intimacy. So even though toys might not be a need or pre-requisite for having sexy fun, they’re an incredibly enjoyable bonus feature. Think of them like ticking the ‘added fun’ box on your sexual take-out order.

Next, consider what type of sex toy would be best for you. There are many different types: vibrating, static, large, small, flexible, rigid, for vaginal, clitoral, anal and erogenous zone stimulation. Then there is the material it’s made of to consider. Some materials are full body-safe for internal and external use, others are toxic and could cause allergic reactions, irritation or worse. What does porous and non-porous mean? What are phthalates? Does any of this really matter when considering which sex toy to buy and try?

Find out all of the above and more in my sex toy advice articles here on the blog.

What Is Urethral Sounding? How To Use Penis Sounds

Once you're ready, lube up the sound (and the end of your penis) and slowly slide the tip in. Once in, keep hold of both the sound and your penis, then slowly allow gravity to pull the sound deeper. Once you're at the base of the penis, stop for a moment and slowly pull the sound out, ever so gently. This is approximately where the best sensations are to be found.

What Are Dental Dams? Where & Why Would You Use Them?

How To Clean Your Sex Toys Properly (& Why It’s So Important)

Before plunging your sex toy into a sink of water or taking it in the shower with you for a rinse, check the instructions or packet to see if it’s completely waterproof. Many sex toys are not, and they will state water resistant only and to wipe the surface carefully. If the manufacturers have been a bit lax in the description department and there’s no mention of waterproof-ness, you should assume it’s not a waterproof sex toy. Believe me, if it’s waterproof, they’ll have added this on as a sales bonus point.
