YES Organic Lubricants and Intimate Moisturisers Review

Last week saw the celebration of YES Organic Intimacy Week, highlighted in my recent feature. As part of the awareness campaign, YES sent me a very generous gift hamper full of fun merch, information and the main organic essentials from their well-researched and effective range. As promised, I’m writing up my review of the YES Organic Lubricants and Intimate Moisturisers included in the gift hamper, now I’ve had a chance to properly use and enjoy them.

YES Organic Lubricants and Intimate Moisturisers Review

YES WB Lubricant

YES WB is a certified organic water based personal lubricant, and mine was housed in a hygiene-sealed 100ml flip-top tube. Other sizes are available. This lubricant is clearly pure and free from nasties; there’s no chemical smell and it feels pleasant and natural between your fingers. When using it for intimate pleasure I was surprised at just how natural it felt – it was only then I realised just how artificial and chemical-laden certain other lubricants must have been.

YES WB isn’t completely colourless and transparent. The formulation, which includes natural components such as Aloe Vera, results in a lubricant which is semi-opaque, flows well and looks clear once smeared between fingers or on body parts of your choice. There’s no strong of off-putting scent, and it doesn’t smell artificial. There’s a delicate aroma of ‘clean’ which I can only describe as being like the pure wet wipes you can buy for newborns and sensitive skin, to help you understand what I mean. Smells wet, but fresh and hygienic.

Although YES WB isn’t thick and doesn’t leave you with an endless glide (it’s water-based so will evaporate over time, with body temperature and especially with friction), that doesn’t mean it’s not an effective lube. YES WB was slippery throughout play time with a vibrator or dildo, and was a non-intrusive addition to sex with my partner, too. It simply felt like additional natural lubricant for vaginal pleasures, and although it’s not my top pick for anal play (I prefer a thicker, longer lasting type) it also performed well for that purpose, too.

Ingredients: Aqua aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder (aloe vera)*, linum usitatissimum (flax) seed extract*, cyamopsis tetragonolobus (guar gum)*, ceratonia siliqua (locust bean gum)*, xanthan gum, sodium chloride, potassium sorbate, citric acid, sodium benzoate.

YES OB Lubricant

YES OB is a certified organic plant-oil based personal lubricant – mine came presented in a hygiene-sealed 80ml flip-top tube, and again, other sizes are available. Previously, oil-based lubes haven’t been my favourite type of lube, but the fact that this formulation from the YES Organic Lubricants range uses a plant-based oil made me try it out afresh.

When I first opened the tube of YES OB, something watery drizzled out and I was pretty sure that wasn’t a correct representation of the formulation or consistency. In the past I’ve found oil lubes to be quite hard, having set in the tube or bottle, and they needed warming up to dispense easily and consistently. I have a very warm office so I guess the natural ingredients in this lube separated slightly. No matter, I popped the top back on and gave the tube a good shake and a bit of a squeeze. Then when I dispensed it, I could tell it was the ‘proper’ plant-oil based lube that YES want everyone to enjoy.

After using YES OB for personal playtime I know that oil-based lubes still aren’t my favourite type. I have similar issues with silicone lubricants; the slipperiness is just a little too long-lasting and difficult to wash off for me. You can leave this on and not wash it off at all, as YES OB is full of rich oils and butters which nourish and condition your skin. I just personally don’t like the feeling of it still on me, coating my skin. A personal preference.

It’s also worth noting that YES OB isn’t condom compatible, if that’s relevant in your sex life. I’m sure YES OB will be a beautiful and welcome addition to many people’s sex essentials collection and pleasure times, it’s just not great for me personally.

Ingredients: Helianthus annuus (sunflower) seed oil*, butyrospermum parkii (shea butter)*, prunus dulcis (sweet almond oil)*, cera alba (bees wax)*, theobroma cacao (cocoa) seed butter*, tocopherol (vitamin E).

YES VM Moisturiser

YES VM is a certified organic vaginal moisturising gel contained in a hygiene-sealed 100ml flip-top tube. It’s also available in 5ml applicators. It looks and feels similar to the YES WB, which is probably due to the fact that the formulation ingredients are the same except that VM has phenoxyethanol and WB has sodium benzoate. The other ingredients are the same, but I assume in differing amounts as they’re listed in a slightly different order. It’s no bad thing that the ingredients are so similar; YES is clearly abiding by its natural and organic ethos by using only products which meet those requirements.

YES WB even notes on the back of the tube that it not only lubricates, but also hydrates intimate tissues and relieves vaginal dryness.

I don’t experience vaginal dryness personally, so my feedback on the YES VM may have limited benefit. That said, I could immediately tell that the moisturiser felt refreshing and hydrating when I used it on the folds of my vulva and intimate areas. It just feels… good. Good, healthy, hydrating, gently moisturising.

YES VM has the same semi-opaque look and gel-like yet flowing consistency of YES WB. Once applied, it’s as if it’s been completely clear all along. There’s no off-putting and definitely no artificial scent – it smells pretty much the same as YES WB.

Ingredients: Aqua, linum usitatissimum (flax) extract*, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder (aloe vera)*, ceratonia siliqua (locust bean gum)*, cyamopsis tetragonolobus (guar gum)*, sodium chloride, xanthan gum, potassium sorbate, citric acid, phenoxyethanol.

YES Cleanse Intimate Wash

Finally, YES Cleanse is a certified organic ultra gentle intimate foam wash in a hygiene-sealed 150ml pump-dispense bottle. I have the unfragranced, but it’s also available in Rose scent which I must try at some point as rose is one of my favourite aromas. I was extra-excited about trying out this wash – cleansers which foam up in the shower seem to be a recent novelty in the bathing essentials world. Using one designed specifically for intimate cleansing felt like a supreme luxury.

At first I tried the YES Cleanse out in my hands, both to make sure it foamed up ok and because I was curious about things like the smell and consistency. I gave the bottle a good shake -and sure enough when I pressed the pump, the bottle delivered a decent-sized cloud of foam in my palm. The smell is very much like the YES WB and VM – wet, hygienic, wet-wipe style. Nothing strong or artificial here.

The foam turned to a luxuriant soapy coating once rubbed between palms and over the back of my hands, which felt like a thorough cleanse as I then used water to wash it completely off. Satisfied and impressed, I included it in my bathing regime from then on, and I must admit that it’s not only great to have a gentle, organic, safe cleanser for my delicate region, but the pump-dispense bottle of foam provides you with such a fun way to do it!

I love that I don’t have to quash down the token of guilt I usually feel for using generic shower gels and soaps on and in such a sensitive area of my body, which is what I have been doing, to be entirely honest. I don’t have an overly sensitive vulva or vagina – a good job really, what with my sex life and work life combined – but using the YES Cleanse felt like an overdue act of self-care. I can definitely see how this would be a needed and welcome addition to vulva-owners’ bathing supplies, particularly for those who suffer with dryness and/or reactions to typical shower gels and soaps.

Ingredients: Aqua, lauryl betaine, decyl glucoside, calendula officinalis extract*, aloe barbadensis leaf juice powder (aloe vera)*, citric acid, potassium sorbate, sodium benzoate.

  1. As a woman going through perimenopause it is nice to see a review on a moisturizing gel. My body is super sensitive and I have to be careful about what products I use. That goes with feminine washes as well. I’d be worried that it would mess with my natural ph. I’m hesitant to use such products. I might try out the moisturizing gel though.
