As you’ll have read in my recent NS Novelties Silicone Colours Pride Edition 5 Inch Dildo review, I was recently asked if I’d like to review some of the raunchy rainbow collection of sex toys and lingerie Lovehoney collated in celebration of Pride Month 2019. The second item I’ve reviewing is this glorious NS Novelties Silicone Unicorn Tails Butt Plug. Despite not identifying as a ‘full furry’, I do have a thing for tails & tail plugs, so I was extremely excited to check out this unicorn-themed style.

Packaging & What’s In The Box
The NS Novelties Silicone Unicorn Tails Butt Plug comes in a professionally designed, sleek box by NS Novelties, which tells you all you need to know about the product contained within. One side has an ‘actual size’ image of the butt plug area, with the multicoloured tail depicted behind, while the other side has a plug-shaped transparent window so you can see the toy sat in the plastic moulded insert inside.
Sounds such a little thing, but I was really impressed with how the plug was packaged inside the box. The silicone plug area is sat in the insert, while the tail portion is twisted up and back, stored behind the plug with the plastic separating the artificial hair from the silicone. Keeps everything pristine and new right up until the product is retrieved from the box & ready for use.
The box has all the product, manufacturer, material & care details on, inside the box you simply get the tail plug and nothing else. It would be sensible to make note of the care details as well as making use of your own sex toy storage options between uses.
First Impressions & Measurements
The tail part of the plug is made from polyester -and to give you a ‘real-world’ reference, it feels and smells just like Barbie doll hair. Or My Little Pony tails. The artificial hair feels resilient and well-attached to the base of the plug. In fact, it disappears up into the centre of the plug and feels extremely well-secured. The tail is unusual from other tail plugs I own in that it’s curly… there’s a permanent curl which not only shows off the multitude of colours but also lends a playful bounce to the tail.
Moving to the insertable area, the butt plug part of this toy is made from body-safe, smooth black silicone. It has a traditional butt plug shape, with flared base for comfort and safety, and the tip is comfortably rounded for easier insertion. The body gently flares out to its maximum circumference before tapering in at the neck just above the base.
The toy’s total length (with the tail extended/straightened out) is 23.5 inches. The tail by itself, held straightened out, is 19.25 inches. When the tail is allowed to spring back to curly it’s approximately 13 inches in length. The butt plug total length is 4 inches, with a maximum insertable length of 3.5 inches. It has a maximum circumference of 4.25 inches.
The tail plug looked and felt like a really well-made toy, and I was excited about giving it a try. The colours are so vivid and multitudinous, it was going to be a fun journey. I was also pleased that the colours aren’t the typical pastels which are usually associated with ‘unicorn-ware’, but are instead proudly and appropriately bold and bright. A statement piece.
During Use
The NS Novelties Silicone Unicorn Tails Butt Plug isn’t just pretty -it’s easy and comfortable to use, too. My top tip would be to make sure you get the faux hair all facing down from the plug so none is wisping up round the plug base, and then with your other hand apply some lube to the insertable area. And to yourself. This is anal play, after all.
Once the silicone insertable part of the plug has your choice of lube coating it, insertion should be an easy task. Particularly if you’re not new to the pleasure of anal sex toys. The rounded tapered tip made it both easy and comfortable to find then penetrate my entrance. The gentle flare to the widest part, then the narrower neck before the safe wider base, provided a sensual and fulfilling feeling as the plug slid home.
It’s not the longest anal plug I’ve used, but it’s still definitely there and fun to pop inside. The tail part of the plug will clearly be the main motivation for selecting this toy. Once the plug is inside, the tail hangs down from the base in a realistic way. Tail plugs don’t sit in exactly the same place as real animals’ tails do, even when you’re on all fours, but for a tail plug with artificial hair in a permanent curl, this is a pretty close resemblance to how a tail behaves, all things considered.
There’s something about the wispy curls of the faux hair tail which makes me want to be on all fours… it just seems more natural. My partner didn’t object, naturally. Standing with the tail in place means the tail is tickling between my thighs and the back of my legs, whereas on all fours I can swish and move and, in turn, feel the tail swooshing about. The permanent curl in the artificial hair makes for a cute bobbing motion of the tail which I haven’t had with some other tail plugs, so this was a pleasant surprise.
All in all, it was a fun addition to our fun foreplay frolics and consequential sex sessions. I probably wouldn’t use the NS Novelties Silicone Unicorn Tails Butt Plug on my own, as I much prefer wearing it when my partner is there to tease him with it, and for me to show off my tail swooshing skills!
After use I carefully removed the plug and just as carefully thoroughly washed the silicone plug part in cool soapy water and patted dry. When required, the artificial hair can be carefully washed in soapy water too, and left to dry.
Summary
The NS Novelties Silicone Unicorn Tails Butt Plug certainly gives me the horn! It’s such a happy-making, colourful, bouncy, playful addition to my toy box. Not only does it look fantastic, the insertable plug part is well-made and effective too –it’s made from a body-safe, non-porous material and it’s designed to provide pleasure to both anal beginners and veterans alike.
This isn’t the cheapest tail plug out there, at just shy of £40 at the time of writing, but I feel the longevity promised by the great choice of material, the fact the whole tail is washable not just the insertable part, the kinky curl of the tail and the overall beautiful design makes it worth every penny. You can find cheaper tail plugs, sure –just beware of ‘false economy’ products. I’ve found it’s worthwhile to invest in a well-made product which is safe, comfortable and effective to use and which lasts the course.
