Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe Review
It’s always an exciting time when Hot Octopuss announce they’re launching a new product. They take time to research not only what sort of product their customers might want next, but also how to produce that item as a high-quality product while remaining affordable, with universal appeal. The Hot Octopuss sex toys collection began with the now internationally popular Pulse, also known as a Guybrator. Since the early days, and plenty of industry awards and acclaim later, Hot Octopuss added cock rings and clitoral vibrators. I’m proud to present the newest item in the Hot Octopuss family: the Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe.
Packaging & What’s In The Box
Like previous Hot Octopuss sex toys, the DiGiT comes in a recognisable glossy box bearing the company logo, product image and details and some ideas for use. The shimmery metallic finish feels sleek, welcoming, professional and exciting. It’s quite a small box, but then the product inside is petite and discreet, so that’s to be expected!
Opening the glossy card box I retrieved the contents. The Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe is held securely in a moulded insert, on top of which is the USB charging lead. You’ll also find a branded storage pouch in the box, as well as a user guide and information leaflet.
First Impressions & Measurements
The Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe looks funky and novel, without seeming gimmicky. The bullet vibe part is slightly different to the norm; rather than a strict cylindrical or cuboid prism shape, there’s a flat underside and the tip is wider and thicker than the stem. I guessed this was to help deliver more vibrating stimulation to a wider area.
The base of the bullet showcases the main feature of DiGiT: a semi-opaque, shaped plastic area designed to be worn on the fingers, almost like rings. The open-style of the shaped plastic portion, and the S-shape design, means there’s plenty of play potential. Wear is extremely versatile considering it’s a finger vibe – you can wear DiGiT on the right or left hand, and index or middle finger, according to your preferences during play and if you’re using it on yourself or your partner.
Charging Up
The Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe is easy to charge up before use. Just plug the jackpin end of the included lead into the resealable port designed for it on the side of the vibrator, then the other end into any USB port. I like to use the ports on my desktop or laptop, as well as a USB to mains adaptor plug (available from Amazon et al) by the side of the bed.
A red LED lights up on the side of the toy while it’s charging to let you know it’s connected ok. The DiGiT needs charging for 2-3 hours from zero to gain a full charge. It will run continuously for up to 40 minutes, depending on the settings used of course.
Operation
The Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe is operated by buttons which are oval indented areas on the silicone to the sides of the toy. One side has one oval indentation, which is the on/off button. When switched on, this button is also quickly pressed to discover and scroll through the pattern settings. Press and hold to switch off. The charging hole is also on this side of the toy.
The other side has two indented oval/button areas, which are used to increase/decrease the vibration speed.
During Use
The finger loop area of the DiGiT is nicely designed, sleek and classy, and most importantly: works. It feels comfortable looping around my fingers, whether I use it on my right hand (where the vibrator is sat under my index finger) or on my left (where it’s sat under my middle finger). If you’re not sure how to fit it, the Hot Octopuss crown emblem on the plastic loop area should be facing up when you have your palms facing down, so that the rounded tip of the vibrator is against your skin and able to stimulate you directly. Because the DiGiT can be worn on either the left or right hand, it makes the toy accessible for not just left or right-handed people, but also partners who want to include it in couples’ play. It can be worn then used to stimulate someone else, forming a non-intrusive but fun and teasing part of foreplay and sex.
The buttons to operate the Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe are on the toy itself, so I find it easier to switch it to the setting I want before enjoying the toy against my skin and nerve-ending packed areas. I am not a big fan of patterns and pulses in my vibrators, so I stick with the constant vibration options.
Although the DiGiT would be brilliant for people who love teasing during foreplay and/or a lightly vibrating toy to caress and arouse erogenous zones, that’s not what I personally want from my sex toys. I’m more the hard-core, industrial-use type; wand vibrator fan and jackhammer thrills for unrestrained, loud and messy orgasms.
Despite the Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe being described on the box as providing ‘deep, rumbly vibrations’, I didn’t find them powerful enough for me. When holding the toy away from my body, it seemed like they would’ve been powerful enough – but pressing the toy against my body, and my finger on the other side of it, seemed to muffle the vibration movement enough so it was no longer providing the intensity I require.
It’s really sad because I desperately wanted to love DiGiT and for it to become a mini vibrator I reached for anytime I wanted to taste blissful climax. Instead, I find myself opting for something else –something that I know will be powerful enough to bring me to orgasm without much thought or effort.
The vibrations are rumbly, and they’re quite powerful for a vibrator of this size. They’re just not as intensely powerful, as unavoidably orgasmic (for me) as those from some of my other bullet vibrators, even though I have to hold those in the traditional fashion rather than enjoying a finger loop area.
No matter how I tried, I just couldn’t orgasm when using the Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe alone for clitoral stimulation. I have orgasmed when using DiGiT, but there have always been other vibrators involved –and I have to question its contribution to the orgasm when I’m also using a wand vibrator, nipple clamps and a vibrating butt plug. It’s entirely possible that I’m simply used to higher levels of stimulation than other people, and the DiGiT would be the perfect level of stimulation for many out there. Especially if you love including teasing-style vibrations in your self-arousal sessions or intimate moments as a couple.
Summary
For me, the Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe wasn’t a winner, which is a shame as I love Hot Octopuss’ ethos as well as the amount of thought and research which goes into crafting each addition to their award-winning range. I don’t blame the vibrator at all, but rather my personal preferences when it comes to vibrating stimulation, which I unreservedly admit is likely to be too extreme for many (or most) people out there. With that in mind, it would be unfair and wrong to write off DiGiT as a failure, even though it can’t bring me to orgasm by itself.
There are many plus points: sleek design, rechargeable power, waterproofness, silicone material, quiet operation, various settings, comfortable finger loop, inclusivity and universal appeal. It also comes with a storage bag which comfortably holds both the DiGiT and the charging lead.
I feel that this would be a fantastic gift for a partner who loves teasing vibrations, or a sexy surprise to reveal during a dirty weekend away. Someone who has never experienced vibrations from a sex toy before would also benefit from trying the Hot Octopuss DiGiT Finger Vibe, as the vibrations range from mild all the way up to rather rumbly, while the finger loop is comfortable and makes the toy feel more of an extension to your own hand rather than an intruder during your personal pleasure sessions.
