Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux Review

As you’ll see from the many, many Hot Octopuss sex toy reviews here at Cara Sutra, my partner and I have spent the past few years thoroughly enjoying the new releases from this innovative and inclusive adult brand. It was with great delight that I accepted this opportunity to review one of the latest additions to the Hot Octopuss Guybrator family, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux.

Packaging & What’s In The Box

As usual, outer packaging was secure and discreet for the post. Inside, I found the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux box which is recognisably ‘Hot Octopuss’ -the design similar to the other toy boxes from the range.

Opening the box and removing the contents, I found the Pulse Solo Lux ‘Guybrator’, the wrist strap remote control, a magnetic/USB charging lead, a satin drawstring branded storage pouch and information/instruction leaflets.

First Impressions & Measurements

Hey, there’s a wearable! Yep, the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux comes with a wrist strap remote control, unlike the previous Hot Octopuss Guybrators. I think this is a great idea as who wants to hold on to a remote the entire time you’re climbing to/achieving orgasm –and if you put it down it’s so easy to lose a loose remote between the sheets.

Other than the remote-control style, I couldn’t figure what else was different about the Solo Lux in comparison to, say, the Hot Octopuss Pulse 3 Duo from looks alone. As an aside, I like to gather some thoughts about a new sex toy before reading any of the blurb on it, so I can form some opinions without being influenced by marketing spiel.

The Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux measures 4.25 inches in height and is approximately 2.75 inches wide.

Charging Up

It’s easy to charge up the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux. The charging lead is included in the box, one end of which attaches magnetically to the two metal strips at the base of the toy, while the other end can be use in any USB port. I like to use the USB ports on my PC, or on my multi USB-to-mains adaptor plug by the bed (these are available from various electronics retailers).

A red LED glows to show the Pulse Solo Lux is charging, which turns to green when it’s fully charged.

As for the wrist strap / wearable remote control, the central control panel pops out of the silicone wristband when you manoeuvre it out. Turn it over and you find the battery cover with is slid across to remove. The remote is powered by x1 CR2032 cell battery which is included, and is easy to find replacements for once it runs out of power.

During Use

Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux ReviewSo how did he get on with the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux? Over to him for his thoughts:

Because the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux has an open design, during use it was very noisy -especially when used with lube. However, it’s no noisier than using one of our powerful wand vibrators.

The vibrating plate (Pulse Plate) is well positioned. Due to the intensity, unlike many other vibrating sex toys you’ll most likely not want or need to use the Solo Lux on full power for very long. There’s a handy ‘boost’ button on the remote to have a quick burst of full power -but I found it just too intense to use it at that particular speed over an extended time period.

The remote control detaches from the wrist strap when needed, but stays secure in the strap while used and worn, so in that way it’s versatile. At the beginning I was quite sceptical about the wrist strap style remote, wondering if it was simply a gimmick, but during use it’s so much easier to use the buttons on this remote than trying to find and use them on the device itself. The buttons on the toy are fairly stiff -understandably so, in order to avoid accidentally pushing them during play- plus there’s the issue of pushing those buttons while the toy is buzzing, and when things are lubed up… so the wrist strap remote was surprisingly useful.

Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux ReviewAfter use, the Solo Lux is nice and easy to clean. The new magnetic connector is an improvement over the previous ‘rubber cap’ charging port, so there’s nothing you need to make sure is covered before washing. Plus, as the Solo Lux is open and accessible in design, unlike tube style masturbators it’s hassle-free to rinse through and clean it thoroughly.

I rate the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux 10/10. I did consider marking it down due to the noise level, but as I mentioned previously it’s like buying and using certain types of wand vibrator. You know it’s noisy but that’s the trade-off for the power and efficiency with some sex toys, and you choose to use them accordingly. The Solo Lux is definitely worth the full score.

  1. Hey, thanks for the review! I have heard a lot about hot Octopuss having trouble with their batteries dying within a few months.. If you are using this toy more or less regularily can you tell me if you’re having similar problems?
    Thanks! 🙂

    • Hello
As we have a lot of the range (& a lot of other brand products) we cycle through various toys regularly – but we haven’t noticed any problems with the batteries dying!
