Quick Verdict

A lightweight, slender wand that’s discreet, versatile, and effective, just don’t expect full-size wand power.
Quiet, easy to use, and suitable for clitoral and internal vaginal stimulation, but only water resistant and not for those who need deep, rumbly, full-body vibrations.

Overview and Key Features

GAIA Wand vibrators in presentation boxes showing three colour options with packaging

The GAIA cordless wand vibrator has plenty of great features. I love that it’s rechargeable, highly water resistant (IPX6), has 12 vibrating settings, is quiet enough for discreet use in a shared house, and is available in a choice of three colours. You can opt for GAIA in universally appealing black, rose red (more of a dramatic fuchsia pink to my eyes), or funky and refreshing teal blue.

This wand is made with body-safe silicone, stated to be medical grade silicone on the Womangift product page. It’s smooth and silky, superbly tactile in the hand with minimal drag, and glides exceptionally well with a splash of your favourite lube.

There’s no storage bag provided, which is to be expected given the great value price tag. Keeping things simple, you get the wand vibrator, the USB/magnetic charging wire and an instruction leaflet. Everything does come contained in a lidded box though, which can be used to store everything together between uses.

Enjoy my video demonstration of the GAIA wand vibrator below. This non-explicit video shows packaging, unboxing, how to charge the toy, non-submerged water performance, the various vibrating settings and how to operate them, plus a look at all three colours of wand vibrator available from Womangift.

What’s in the Box

Inside the black lidded box you get the GAIA wand vibrator in your choice of colour (black, pinky red or teal), the USB/magnetic charging lead, and the instruction leaflet. Everything is kept secure through transit and delivery thanks to the removable foam inserts.

There’s no storage bag provided, but as previously mentioned, you can keep everything inside the lidded box between uses. Once the foam inserts were disposed of, I liked that I had a storage box to keep everything together and safe.

Design, Size and Feel in Hand

The GAIA cordless wand vibrator is lightweight and not bulky, so it’s easy and comfortable to use even during longer play sessions. This has the added benefit of making the toy an accessible option for those with physical limitations or people who can’t wield heavier, bulkier toys.

The wand measures, by my measurements:

  • 8 inches in length (20cm)
  • of this, the handle is just over 6 inches, and the head and neck is just shy of 2 inches in length
  • Wand head circumference is 4.75 inches (12cm).

The neck of the wand has some give, bending a little during use. That made it easier to keep flush against the curves of my body and didn’t dull the vibrations too much. I like to hold the head of a wand firmly against my clit, so this slight flexibility was welcome. It doesn’t bend easily, so it isn’t flopping about everywhere; it’s just an extra flex you may need as you hold it tightly against your body.

Performance and Vibration Quality

Using the GAIA wand vibrator for clitoral stimulation during masturbation, or in foreplay and sex with my husband, was where it really shone for me. I wouldn’t put it in the same category as the most powerful wand vibrators in the world, but it certainly isn’t anywhere near as loud either, which must be taken into consideration. GAIA certainly isn’t weak, it’s effective enough to give this toy veteran a clitoral orgasm whenever I use it. And unlike traditional, full-size wands, I can use it internally as well – it’s slim enough to enjoy vaginally.

With regards the sound output: it’s quiet enough for me to feel safe using it with someone in the next room, if I’m using it under a duvet or with some background noise like the TV or air con. I’d say the noise is similar to powerful bullet vibrators.

The style of vibration is similar to a powerful bullet vibrator too, or powerful vaginal toy. It’s more buzzy than deep or rumbly; high frequency rather than thuddy. This is to be expected due to the smaller size of the wand compared to full size wand vibrators. It isn’t like the bone-shaking, jackhammer power vibes of a Doxy Wand, for example. Which is absolutely fine with me – I don’t get to use those full-size wands very often due to how incredibly noisy they are. The powerful buzz of GAIA gets me off, and the vibrator is like a hugely upgraded version of a bullet vibrator.

Why do I love my GAIA wand? Well, this toy has proven that I can have the best of both worlds. A wand vibrator which is powerful to bring me to orgasm, but discreet enough in size and sound level for me to enjoy even in a shared home. It’s conveniently cordless because it’s rechargeable, safe to use in the shower, and I can use it internally as well as externally. Multifunction, practical, versatile and effective.

Controls and Vibration Settings

The GAIA wand vibrator is a multifunction vibrating toy with high powered constant vibrating setting as well as 11 other pulse or pattern vibrating modes. As usual, my favourite is the high speed constant vibration. On this setting I can explore using the head pressed firmly against either side of my clitoris, or just lightly skimming over the surface of pre-lubricated, aroused and sensitive skin, or dipping into my vagina with the comfortably sized head.

Need lube? Check out my complete guide to sex lubes, as well as all our lube reviews.

There’s a handy LCD so you know which mode you’re on. Operation is via the simple on/off button, then select your preferred vibration pattern or pulse with the top, frequency button.

The vibration is delivered through two motors, according to the product page. It feels as though these are both in the head, or at least, one in the head, one in the neck. I can’t find any details about where, exactly, the motors are located. And to be honest, I don’t much care once I’m enjoying the stimulating vibrations.

On the first setting, you can enjoy the constant vibration, then you scroll through the rest. The middle HS button is ‘high speed’. I found this special feature of GAIA genuinely handy. During any of the patterned modes, between mode 2 through 12, you can press this HS button to immediately deliver high powered constant vibration. Quick press it again to return to the mode you were on. This is great for a quick burst of power whenever you like, without losing which setting you’re on.

During my first few plays with GAIA, I did hit the wrong button a few times. It’s easy to hit the high-speed button when you meant to change the pattern, and vice versa. It didn’t take me long to find my bearings with it though. When the vibrator head is against my clit or inside me, I know that the large smooth area on the handle is the LCD, then below that is the frequency change button, then the HS button, and finally at the bottom is the on/off button. Just press and hold that to switch the vibrator off.

Internal vs External Use

Another thing to love about the GAIA wand is that it can be enjoyed by anyone who wants easily accessible, effective sexual pleasure. It doesn’t matter what your sexuality, gender, or relationship status is, GAIA stimulates you wherever you enjoy it. My main focus is usually clitoral stimulation, but depending on your anatomy and preferences, the vibration can pleasure erogenous zones and sexual regions such as nipples, testicles, penis, perineum… Just don’t insert it anally as it isn’t meant for that. Check out my guide to safe anal play for more information.

The product page states that the GAIA wand is usable as a G-spot vibrator as well as just for vaginal stimulation. In my experience, GAIA is comfortable and pleasurable vaginally, but it doesn’t quite angle enough to hit my G-spot. Your mileage may vary, of course, but for me the wand is the wrong shape for easy G-spot stim. The neck does bend slightly to help keep the toy flush against your body, or to deliver comfortable vaginal pleasure, but I wouldn’t personally use it as a G-spot toy.

Discover our G-spot vibrator reviews.

When using GAIA internally, I really appreciated the smaller than full-size design and the slimness of the tip. The head of the wand, which is obviously what you insert vaginally, is around the same size as a standard vaginal dildo circumference. I’d say if you’re used to using vaginal dildos and vibrators, the GAIA wand won’t pose any problems or discomfort when inserting and enjoying it vaginally.

Before use, clean GAIA thoroughly (under running water, don’t submerge fully) and use a splash of your favourite sex lube to make insertion a safer, easier and smoother experience. To be honest, even with my perimenopause vaginal dryness I didn’t need to add any lube in order to insert this non-intimidating wand vibrator comfortably, without chafing or pain.

Although you can use GAIA for vaginal play, in my opinion it’s still primarily designed as an external or clitoral wand vibrator.

Water Resistant Use and Cleaning

I’ll admit I was disappointed to learn that my new GAIA cordless wand vibrator isn’t fully submersible with a gold-standard IPX7 waterproof rating. That said, IPX6 is good enough. I can clean it under a running tap, and enjoy using it in the shower – I just can’t use it under water in a bath, or in the middle of a swimming pool. Not that I usually take my vibrators to the swimming baths with me.

GAIA is great fun standing in the shower, as the running water helps mask any noise. Not that GAIA is extremely loud anyway. It feels like such a treat being able to use a wand vibrator in a shower, after years of rare enjoyment of my wired, floorboard-rattlingly noisy and non-waterproof wand vibrators. This slender, cordless wand, in comparison, is lightweight and comfortable to use in the shower, as well as safe and orgasmically effective. I have enjoyed a rapid ascent through arousal, then satisfying, knee-buckling climax. I pop the GAIA wand on the mat outside the shower, finish myself off (the washing part, I mean), and exit the shower like a new woman. Perfect.

Like I say, it’s a bit of a shame GAIA isn’t IPX7. I hope this will be considered for a future, improved version of the vibrator. An IPX7 waterproof rating would mean I could submerge it in a sink of water to clean it, and use it in the bath as well as the shower.

I should also point out that there are grooves around the tip of the wand head. These provide delicious texture and friction when gliding the buzzing toy over the highly sensitised, lubricated clitoris, but need a little extra attention when it comes to cleaning the toy thoroughly. Make sure all the grooves are cleaned thoroughly to get rid of any lube and fluids from use.

Charging and Battery Life

GAIA is a rechargeable, cordless wand vibrator. It’s easy to charge up using the included magnetic to USB charging wire. Make sure the toy is fully dry after cleaning, before attaching the magnetic end of the wire to the corresponding metallic nodes on the back of the vibrator. It can be charged via standard USB ports or plugs up to 2A.

I like to use the port on my laptop, making sure the laptop is on and not in sleep mode, or a multi USB to mains plug by the side of the bed. A blue LED blinks behind the on or off button whilst it’s charging so you know it’s all connected properly.

The charging times in the included leaflet seem a little off to me. The leaflet states that GAIA takes 34 hours to fully charge from zero, which seems far too long for a product of this type and size. In reality, I found the initial charging time to be much shorter and in line with typical rechargeable vibrators – taking around 3 hours from zero power.

You don’t need to fully drain the toy’s power before recharging, just top it up between uses as needed. A full charge provides 3 to 4 hours of playtime, depending on your play style, frequency and duration. In real world use I found GAIA did last me multiple masturbation sessions before it started to wane, which also goes to show just how rapidly effective it is at giving me an orgasm.

Travel and Everyday Use

As the GAIA wand vibrator is lightweight, slender and rechargeable with the USB magnetic lead, it’s comfortable to take with you on travels. Just be warned that there’s no travel lock function with this toy, so careful where and how you pack it.

I wouldn’t feel comfortable packing it in a suitcase, for example, and taking either to a local hotel in that way and especially not overseas or on a flight. You can find out more about travel-friendly vibrators in my related guide.

Instead of popping this toy into a suitcase and sending it off without me, I’m keeping this one for dirty weekends away with my husband when I can keep a close eye on it in my handbag. It’s petite enough to fit into the internal zip pocket of a shoulder bag or holdall that doesn’t leave my side, along with the charging wire in case I need a power top-up, and some sachets of lube. Loads of hotels have USB ports in the room now, making GAIA a convenient, easy and effective toy option for this type of stay ‘n play.

The discreet noise output means I don’t have to worry about anyone in the room next door overhearing our fun, either. Well, not from the toy, anyway.

Who It’s For (and Not For)

The GAIA cordless wand vibrator will suit people who want a lightweight, handbag portable, rechargeable, multifunction wand style sex toy which is actually discreet to use, versatile and effective with it.

In my opinion, GAIA won’t suit someone who needs or wants extreme jackhammer style vibrations such as those from full size and weight wand vibrators like the original Doxy Wand or Hitachi Wand.

If you’re into deep, rumbly and thuddy vibrations rather than high-powered buzz, GAIA will likely not be your thing either, as it offers a higher frequency style of vibration rather than bone-rattlingly deep.

This vibrator will suit someone looking for a light to wield, easy and comfortable to use vibrator for internal (vaginal, not anal) or clitoral stimulation, which is discreet and quiet enough even on the highest vibration setting. A toy which is body safe as it’s made with medical grade silicone, feels silky smooth in the hand and glides well with lube. And a vibrator which offers versatile play options for solo or couple’s enjoyment, as well as 12 different vibration settings which are easily operated. Don’t forget that toggleable high speed vibration feature, either.

Value for Money

Currently priced at US$47.99, or roughly £38-£40, the GAIA wand sits firmly in the budget to mid-range category for wand vibrators. For everything it offers, I believe this price represents great value for money.

What do you get for the price? You get a rechargeable, silicone-bodied wand which is lightweight, quiet enough to use even with other people in the house, shower-safe, and a toy which is genuinely effective at delivering clitoral stimulation and vaginal pleasure. That’s a tricky combination to find in a sex toy, especially the balance between being discreet during use but being effective enough to deliver an easily-achievable orgasm.

That said, it’s important to be clear about what you’re not buying. With GAIA, you don’t get a full-size wand which is top end of the scale power with deep, thuddy or bassy rumbles. If that’s what your body is used to or what you feel it needs, this toy probably won’t feel like great value to you.

The value of GAIA comes from how comfortable, easy, versatile and practical it is. You don’t have to wait until everyone’s out of the house to enjoy it, you don’t have to keep it safe from even the lightest spray of water, you’re not restricted to external use only. If you want something that fits into your masturbation or shared sexual pleasure habits with ease, a toy which offers simple, effective stimulation, GAIA is where it’s at.

Final Verdict and Thoughts

GAIA isn’t the most powerful wand vibrator out there – but it isn’t trying to be, and it doesn’t have to be. It’s powerful enough to get the job done, and it’s discreet enough for everyday pleasure even in a shared home. I was surprised to find that GAIA was effective enough to easily bring me to a clitoral orgasm every time, even though I’m a renowned and self-confessed jackhammer vibes fan.

If you’re new to sex toys or a vibrator beginner, rest assured that GAIA is a non-intimidating, versatile and great value way to start enjoying sex toys. Perhaps you’re a sex toy veteran like me, and you’re fed up with being unable to use the huge and heavy wand vibrator under your bed, because it’s just too loud or uncomfortable to use. Others may be searching for the holy grail of sex toys, a vibrator which delivers discreet vibrating pleasure to any part of the body you desire, on you or them, or both combined, during couple’s play. The GAIA wand vibrator is an excellent choice.
