Wand vibrators remain one of my favourite types of sex toys, even after seventeen years as a sex toy tester and trying many, many different toy styles. I just love how powerful a good wand vibe is, and how quickly and efficiently it rips an orgasm from my hungry-for-pleasure body. An issue I had with early wands is being tethered via a wire, restricting my movement, as they were mains powered, plug-in styles. Even when this was resolved, I couldn’t enjoy the joyfully juddering pleasure from a wand in the bath or shower, as none of those powerful styles were waterproof. Enter, Le Wand Dive Submersible. It’s a full-size wand vibrator which is fully waterproof, cordless of course, and promises orgasmic vibrating power to rival any of my previous wand favourites. Is this waterproof Le Wand vibrator really the holy grail of wand vibes? Read on for my honest and comprehensive review.

What is the Le Wand Dive?

Le Wand vibrator resting on a light blue and dark blue checked towel which is folded on the side of a white bath. Beside the wand vibe is a pair of light blue swimming goggles.

Le Wand is one of the most respected wand vibrator brands in the industry, known for premium build quality, powerful motors and beautifully designed rechargeable wands that have racked up sex toy awards year after year. Their original Le Wand rechargeable is a firm favourite of mine and of countless other sex toy testers, reviewers and users. Le Wand Dive is their first fully submersible IPX8 wand vibrator, extending that reputation for power and quality into full underwater play. That matters if you’ve ever wanted proper wand vibrations in the bath or shower without the constant worry that a splash is going to kill the motor, or wanted a genuinely bath-safe wand vibrator that doesn’t compromise on the wand experience.

Le Wand Dive is a full-size, fully waterproof, cordless wand vibrator. It has a waterproof rating of IPX8, the first wand vibrator ever to have this rating rather than IPX7, and it can be used underwater to a maximum depth of 1-metre/3ft. The head is covered with body-safe silicone material.

The Dive wand is rechargeable, offers 10 vibrating speeds and 20 patterns, and is presented in an attractive aquatic blue colour. It has a travel lock function, and comes with a zip-up storage/travel bag as well as the jackpin/USB charging wire and instructions.

Design & Materials

As for what materials Le Wand Dive is made from, I’m happy to share that they’re all body-safe and non-toxic. You can find out more about which materials to opt for and which to avoid in my sex toy materials guide.

The head, neck and buttons are 100% body-safe silicone, while the handle and other parts are ABS plastic.

What’s in the Box

Inside the box you get Le Wand Dive submersible wand vibrator, the jackpin/USB charging wire, instructions and a zip up travel bag/storage bag. I’ve kept the outer box as well as it’s nice and sturdy, as well as a good size to toss everything into between uses while keeping the wand safe from knocks or sunlight.

Charging Up

Charging up is easy, just use the included charging wire. One end has a jackpin, the other end is standard USB so you can use it with your USB port of choice. I tend to use a multi-USB to mains plug by the bed or in my office (I work from home, luckily!), or the USB ports on my laptop.

The buttons blink white while the wand is charging.

Once fully charged, which takes around 3 hours from zero, I gave the head a soapy rinse to get rid of any manufacturing residue, or dust from laying about on the carpet while getting charged up. I like to wash my sex toys thoroughly before I use them, which includes when they’re brand-new, just in case.

Find out more about why you should wash your toys thoroughly and a step-by-step process for all types, in my How To Clean Sex Toys Safely Guide.

Controls & Operation

There are three silicone buttons on the Le Wand Dive handle. They are + and -, and in the middle of those there’s a zigzag button.

Close up of the three white silicone operation buttons on Le Wand Dive's handle: plus, zigzag symbol, and minus

Use + to switch on the wand vibrator and to increase the vibration speed, and use – to lower the intensity and keep pressing to turn the wand off. The zigzag button lets you change up the vibrating pattern. Le Wand Dive starts on constant speed vibration, but there are 20 patterns and pulses to discover via this mode change button.

During Use: How It Feels

Before I ever switched on my Le Wand Dive, I expected to fall in love with it from first buzz. That isn’t what happened. My sexual pleasure journey with this wand vibrator has been far more interesting than that.

After fully charging Le Wand Dive, a process I waited through impatiently because I needed to feel those powerful vibes on my clit, I picked it up and switched it on excitedly.

It isn’t thuddy. It isn’t bassy. The vibrations are high frequency throughout; whether on the highest speed or the lowest.

Fuck. Disappointment surged through me, replacing the intense, excited arousal I felt before switching it on. Well, I thought. I have to give it a proper test anyway, and see how I get on. Keep an open mind, and open your legs. You never know, you might like it.

And guess what? I do like it. In fact, I love it.

For a start, the non-thuddy vibrations make Le Wand Dive a quieter, more discreet wand vibrator than my other bassy, thuddy types. Obviously being cordless has its own advantages too, as well as being fully submersible waterproof, which I’ll come to in time. I’ve used Dive during solo masturbation and during sexy playtimes with my husband, and it’s extremely enjoyable and effective. Yes, despite the top end, high frequency rather than thudding, bassy vibrations.

For years, when using clitoral vibrators, I’ve just gone straight to the highest constant speed from the off. I felt like it was the only way I could effectively orgasm. But along with my recent libido return, something else has changed for me, sexually. Well, quite a few things, actually. The relevant part here is that I’ve come to love teasing myself instead of masturbation being a “fast buzz and it’s over” type affair. I’ve been ditching the quickie cums for the slow builds, the long sessions of edging, getting as close as I dare to orgasm then pulling back, repeatedly.

The slower speeds and the various pulses and patterns of Le Wand Dive are fantastic during these edging sessions. I’m learning to love all the settings of a clitoral vibrator, as well as just the fastest constant. Just as I’m learning to love being sexually teased and temporarily denied, gooning and edging and enjoying the rise and fall of arousal as I repeatedly build to a climax that I don’t let myself have until I’ve ‘suffered’ enough. The settings on Le Wand Dive are very effective for those types of play sessions.

Le Wand Dive looks fairly hefty but it’s actually pretty lightweight for a full-size wand. Due to its size and shape I was able to hold it clamped between my thighs with the head against my vulva and clit, or shoved down my underwear, again with the head against my clit, while doing other things. Like taking other sex toy review photos in my office, or putting away laundry, or making myself lunch in the kitchen. The kinkiness and the breathlessness of being forced to walk that edge of high arousal without cumming is unspeakably hot.

A note here that you’re not supposed to use the Dive for more than 15 minutes continuously, so I did my best to keep an eye on the clock during tease times. It could easily be seen as a negative, but having an official time-out on the vibrations actually felt kinda sexy. Admittedly, I can find the kinky aspect in most things.

Yeah, it’s a great toy for teasing myself with – but can it actually make me cum?

Fuck, yes. I could cum within a minute or two if I let myself. As always, it’s the highest, constant speed that drives me to the edge of that orgasmic abyss and shoves me, with two strong hands against my exposed chest, into that glorious freefall. All the way through whatever teasing play I’m enjoying with it, and perhaps other accessories in the mix too (nipple clamps, butt plug, generally being a sex toy slut) the orgasm is always there. Within my reach, whenever I want it. I can feel it, easily accessible, throughout. It’s merely a case of when I permit myself to fall into it – or sometimes when he permits me – rather than if.

Let’s talk about Le Wand Dive as a couple’s play sex toy. That’s right, it isn’t only fabulous as a solo toy. It’s also comfortable, easy, and orgasmically effective as a toy to deliver intense sensations during sexy fun with my husband.

Whether it’s kinkily teasing me when he notices I have it shoved down my knickers as I sort the laundry, and decides to get involved (tweaking my suddenly exposed nipples, fingering my wet slit, pushing on the wand’s head against my clit), or we’re in the more traditional situation of being in bed together and he’s watching me use it on myself, or I’m using it on him, or he’s winding me up with it, it works. It’s a great toy to reach for during mutual masturbation, foreplay, warm-up, whatever you want to call it. And it can be fun to use Le Wand Dive on myself in his presence, or on his body, even without PiV sex being on the cards or some kind of end of sex session marker (it doesn’t have to be, you know). Having him use Le Wand Dive on my clit in 69 as I deepthroat his cock is something else, let me tell you. It focuses and inspires me to give the most enthusiastic, “moaning on it” blowjob of many a wet dream.

At a certain point when Le Wand Dive’s silicone head is pressed up against my clit, I stop being in control. And I love surrendering to it. The vibes, even as high frequency and shrill as they are, take the wheel. If I don’t move the head away, I’m going to cum. No doubt about it. And sometimes even if I do move the head away, I’ll still tip over into that orgasmic abyss, but the lack of the pressure and vibes, despite the orgasm process starting, just means I experience the release in a dribbling, muted way rather than full-bodied, bucking and thrashing orgasm.

In other words, this bastard can give me a ruined orgasm, as I found out when I moved the head away a little too late one time when I was mid-teasing myself. Oops.

It’s actually quite arousing now, thinking back on the experience. I never deliberately ruined my orgasms before, and didn’t deliberately do it this time, but hey, it happened. And knowing I was in such a sustained edging session, hoping to build to the most powerful, shuddering climax ever, only to feel it begin to blossom but then dribble disappointedly down the insides of my legs and onto the floor, is its own kind of kinky-sexy.

IPX8 Waterproof Rating

Next, I want to talk about using Le Wand Dive underwater.

First of all, let’s cover what an IPX8 waterproof rating means.

Many sex toys are still IPX6 or lower, unfortunately. IPX7 is where I feel comfortable submerging a toy for cleaning it thoroughly. Below you can see the differences between IPX6 through 8:

Understanding IPX ratings: 6, 7 and 8

IPX6: Protected against powerful water jets from any direction. Splashproof, safe under a running shower, but not designed for submersion.

IPX7: Can withstand temporary immersion in water up to 1 metre deep for 30 minutes. Survives an accidental dunk in the bath.

IPX8: Suitable for continuous submersion beyond 1 metre, at a depth and duration specified by the manufacturer. In the Le Wand Dive’s case, that’s up to 3 feet of water for up to 2 hours of runtime.

Using Le Wand Dive Underwater

How does it feel using Le Wand Dive underwater as opposed to in dry (well, comparatively dry 😏) conditions? After all, that’s the special feature which is the main draw of this particular sex toy, as “the world’s first IPX8 waterproof vibrating wand massager”.

Don’t expect Le Wand Dive to feel exactly the same underwater as it does ‘on land’. In the shower, the falling water is simply a spread of thin water streams, so the wand vibrator still feels as powerful against my clit as it does when using it in bed, in the office, in the lounge, in the kitchen… you get the idea. In the bath, however, when the Dive wand is entirely submerged, it’s a different matter.

I’ll note here that my underwater usage of Le Wand Dive has been restricted to the bath because I don’t own a private swimming pool. And apparently I can’t use vibrators in the local council swimming baths. Not after the court order.*

It isn’t worse or less of a brilliant sex toy when I use it underneath the water in the bath, it’s just different.

Out of the bath, it’s how I’ve already described. Not bassy, but high frequency, shrill and effective vibrations, targeted and delicious. That intense vibrating stimulation that delivers the need to orgasm, and the easy vehicle for that orgasm, directly to the clit. Submerged in water, the water surrounding the silicone head takes some of the intensity away. The vibrations diffuse into the water somewhat. They feel softer against my clit; still very nice, and I can cum from it, but it isn’t the same as when I’m laid back on the bed, dry (if we don’t count my pussy leaking copiously), and enjoying the vibrations that way.

Underwater the vibrations are less like a focused laser of a vibrator to the clit, and more like a warm wash of vibration not only to my clit, but the vulva surrounds, too. And then there’s the psychological factor, the kinkiness of using a sex toy in the bath, and a cordless wand vibrator at that. Another bonus of using the wand entirely underwater is that the sound is muted even more than its already surprisingly discreet level in the open air.

Sound & Discretion

Because this isn’t one of those ‘jackhammer vibes’ wands that I used to insist upon, the sound level is lower than you might think. Therefore, it’s more discreet during use, which is good to know if relevant to your particular home or usage set-up.

It’s difficult to accurately describe audio levels in text, but you can see and hear Le Wand Dive in action in my review video on this page.

Cleaning & Care

Because Le Wand Dive vibrator isn’t just waterproof, it’s IPX8 submersible, it’s supremely easy to clean after use. Even if you were a naughty slut and inserted the head of the wand vaginally like you’re definitely not meant to, and came all over it. Maybe with another toy seeing to the clitoris and another deep in the ass. *ahem*

Clean it thoroughly as soon as you can after use. This will protect the longevity of the toy as well as keep you safe from any bacterial nasties which may form on the surface of the toy otherwise from bodily fluid residue. Or simply fluff and dust from where it was dropped on the carpet after another satisfying session.

Read about the importance of cleaning your toys thoroughly, as well as a step-by-step guide, in How To Clean Your Sex Toys.

Le Wand Dive is made with body safe materials, having an ABS plastic body casing and silicone covered head. Therefore it’s non-porous and non-toxic, as well as phthalate-free. You can find out more about various materials, what to choose and what to avoid, in my complete guide to sex toy materials.

Pros & Cons

If you’re looking for a monstrous juddering beast of a wand vibrator which will rattle the contents of your bedside cabinet as well as every bone in your body, and probably rouse the neighbours besides, Le Wand Dive isn’t for you. If, however, you’re looking for a sweet, sexy surprise of a wand vibrator which is lightweight, easy to use, cordless, multifunction, rechargeable, fully submersible and delightfully effective whether you want a quickie O or a prolonged afternoon of teased edging, Le Wand Dive is the one.

Pros:

  • First wand vibrator to earn the IPX8 waterproof rating, and it delivers on the underwater promise
  • Fully submersible up to 1m/3ft, so bath and shower play are on the cards
  • Cordless and rechargeable via jackpin/USB charging wire
  • 10 speeds and 20 patterns give plenty to work with, whether you want a quickie or an afternoon of edging
  • Body-safe materials throughout: silicone head and buttons, ABS plastic body
  • Lightweight for a full-size wand, comfortable to hold and easy to clamp between thighs for hands-free use
  • More discreet in sound than the classic bassy jackhammer wands
  • Travel lock and included zip-up storage/travel bag make it a solid choice for taking away
  • Ridiculously easy to clean thanks to being fully submersible
  • Works for solo, mutual masturbation and partnered play
  • Beautiful Pacific Blue colourway

Cons:

  • Vibrations are high frequency rather than deep and thuddy, which may disappoint fans of the classic bassy wand feel
  • 15 minute continuous use limit means keeping half an eye on the clock during longer sessions
  • Vibrations feel softer and more diffuse underwater than out of the water, which won’t suit everyone

Who is Le Wand Dive for?

Le Wand Dive is for you if:

  • You want a full-size, cordless wand vibrator you can take into the bath, shower, or hot tub
  • You love slow builds, edging and pattern play as much as (or more than) a fast finish
  • You prefer a quieter, more discreet wand over a shelf-shaking jackhammer
  • You want body-safe materials, a travel lock and a proper storage bag
  • You enjoy solo, mutual and partnered play and want one wand that does all three

Le Wand Dive isn’t for you if:

  • You only love deep, thuddy, bassy wand vibrations and won’t be swayed by high-frequency power
  • You want a wand you can run for hours at a time (the 15 minute continuous use limit means built-in breaks)
  • You never intend to use your wand near or in water and don’t want to pay extra for that feature

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Le Wand Dive fully waterproof?

Yes. It’s rated IPX8, meaning it’s fully submersible up to 1 metre (3 feet) of water. You can use it in the shower, the bath and even a hot tub or private pool if you’re lucky enough to have one. Just wash then rinse it in fresh water after any use in chlorinated or salt water.

How long does the battery last?

Around 2 hours of continuous use on a full charge. Official advice on usage duration is maximum 15 minute continuous use limit per session, to give it a chance to cool down.

How long does it take to charge?

Around 3 hours from fully depleted to fully charged. The buttons blink white while charging and stay solid when full.

Can I use Le Wand Dive vaginally?

Le Wand markets the Dive as an external massager, and the head is a fair size, so it isn’t designed for internal use. Despite what I personally do with it. The silicone head is body-safe and non-porous, so there are no worries about external use around the vulva and clit areas.

What lube should I use with Le Wand Dive?

Le Wand recommends water-based lube with the Dive. Since the Dive is primarily for external clitoral and vulval use, though, you may not need much lube at all. Once I got started with it, I was naturally lubricating very nicely indeed.

How loud is Le Wand Dive?

Quieter than the classic bassy wand vibrators, thanks to the higher frequency vibration style. It isn’t silent, but it’s more discreet than you might expect from a full-size wand. Check my review video on this page to hear it in action.

Does Le Wand Dive have a travel lock?

Yes. This is handy if you’re taking it on a dirty weekend away (or just adding a spot of masturbatory filth to a business trip), so it won’t accidentally switch on in your bag mid-journey.

Is Le Wand Dive good for people who prefer rumbly vibrations over buzzy ones?

Le Wand Dive’s vibrations are high frequency in my opinion and experience, rather than deep and rumbly, so if you’re firmly team rumble, this isn’t likely to be your favourite wand. That said, I was team deeply bassy and rumbly and thuddy before Le Wand Dive opened me up to a new type of powerful pleasure experience, and I’m a convert.

What’s included in the box?

Le Wand Dive vibrator, the jackpin/USB charging cable, a zip-up storage and travel bag, and the multi-lingual instruction booklet.

Does it have a warranty?

Le Wand offers a 1-year manufacturer’s warranty on the Dive wand vibrator.

Final Thoughts

I know what I was expecting from Le Wand Dive, but that’s not what it delivered. And I’m so glad I was wrong in my assumptions, and experienced the delightful and surprising journey from initial disappointment and pouting at this wand vibrator not living up to what I thought I wanted, through to accepting it as it actually is in reality, then falling in love with it. There’s probably a deeper lesson in there somewhere, but a sex toy review isn’t the place for it.

Previously, and I mean for decades, I’ve demanded only the most bone-jangling, shelf-shaking, “will the neighbours report an earthquake in this area” type wand vibrators to get me from 0 to orgasm in as few seconds as possible. Le Wand Dive has taught me that there’s a different way, a scenic route which may sound like gentle waves, but teases a cataclysmic wave of arousal which has caught me by surprise on occasion. And yes, I’m thinking of a particular ruined orgasm occasion. Hot.

The lowest intensity speed is teasing and delicious. The highest intensity speed is targeted and high frequency and delicious. The many, many pulses and patterns to explore and tease my clit, and other parts of my body with, are also delicious. The vibrations are easy to charge, comfortable to cordlessly experience, whether on the bed or in the bath, and easy to operate with just three buttons on the handle.

I’ve been enjoying Le Wand Dive so much, so often, through so many weeks of prolonged ‘testing’ that it’s actually delayed the publication of this review. I didn’t want to be writing about it, I wanted to be sat on it. It’s my regularly grabbed clitoral tease toy that I have to be wary of, because if I don’t stay alert that tease can easily tip over into an accidental orgasm, especially when I have it shoved down the front of my knickers as I’m folding laundry.

There’s all the extras you’d expect with a high-end sex toy as well. Storage bag, thorough and multi-lingual instruction booklet. Labelled charging wire. Fully waterproof, obviously. Easy to keep clean. Body-safe materials. Travel lock function. But there are some surprises, too. A different feel to play whether you’re using it underwater, or not. Lightweight design. Discreet sound levels, compared to other wand vibrators.

I love all of that, but mostly I love Le Wand Dive for its ability to provide me with either a day of teasing and edging while I’m in the goon cave, or a fast blissful orgasmic release on my own, or to inspire me to give my husband the best blowjob of his life while he uses it on my clit as I’m deepthroating him with clit-vibe-enhanced abandon.
