I decided to choose some John Thomas dildos and plugs to review for myself, and opted for the Skittle dildo, the Buxom Lady dildo, the Sergeant Major butt plug and the Twisted Hog butt plug. Packaging
All John Thomas Toys are sent in discreet outer wrap for the post: plain brown cardboard boxes with the toy securely nested in recyclable packaging within. Your dildo or butt plug of choice is shrink-wrapped in plastic, which has a John Thomas authenticity sticker as well as a label detailing the silicone firmness level of your new toy.
What You Get
At the time of writing, most John Thomas dildos and butt plugs are sent with a free Vac-U-Lock suction cup adaptor – including this John Thomas Skittle Yellow Anal Stretcher Dildo. Check the product page to see whether your toy of choice comes with this suction cup adaptor –a few toys don’t have the required hole in the base, but JTT provide all the details on their website.
As well as transforming your product into a stable, suctioned sex toy to lower yourself on to gradually (especially relevant for the large butt plugs and dildos John Thomas is famous for), these adaptors render the dildos strap-on harness compatible. Due to the size of many of the John Thomas Toys, you’ll likely need to slip the adaptor through the harness’ O-ring before plunging it into the base of the toy. Whether you’ll be able to peg/be pegged with the dildo is another matter –a lot of JTT products are massive! – but it’s still enjoyable just to wield & waggle an enormous dildo in a strap-on for fun & frights.
Measurements
This dildo measures 7 inches in overall length, with an insertable length of 6.25 inches. The maximum circumference of the shaft is 5.75 inches around, while the minimum circumference is 4.5 inches (just above the base area).
During Use
The John Thomas Skittle Yellow Anal Stretcher Dildo is an entirely smooth insertable product, so if you don’t like textures or simply want to focus on enjoying the length and girth of a toy, this might be the one for you.
Although the Skittle is sold as an anal stretcher as well as a dildo, I have used it solely for vaginal penetration. Not only is it a bit too big for me to handle anally, but I have two other anal toys from John Thomas Toys (reviews coming soon) which were more my ideal size and style.
If you do use the Skittle anally, there is a slight lip at the base of the toy acting as a barrier against full insertion. You can use it with the included vac-u-lock suction cup base to further prevent a full enveloping of this toy – that said, bearing in mind its size, you’d really be going some to completely swallow up this beast.
Using the vac-u-lock suction cup base with the Skittle is a great way to keep it steady during insertion and through use, when placing it on a smooth surface like a tiled floor, side of the bath or plastic seat.
When playing with the John Thomas Skittle Yellow Anal Stretcher Dildo I needed to use some water-based lubricant to help comfortably insert it and keep from any chafing or discomfort during use. Although you’re able to use silicone lube with silicone sex toys, I just personally prefer water-based lubes.
I was amazed when I could take all the Skittle’s length – and girth – it’s such a sizeable toy for me. And this is just the small size! The silicone firmness (medium) is softer than I was expecting, with definite ‘squish’. It’s perfect for what I want as it isn’t too soft to easily insert, and it isn’t so firm that it loses tactile appeal. Is this the dildo a grown-up Goldilocks would choose? Perhaps!
Summary
Although the John Thomas Skittle Yellow Anal Stretcher Dildo doesn’t have the bells and whistles of many other sex toys, such as a blend of colours, vibration or tech-assistance, it does what it says on the tin. And quite often, that’s exactly what’s needed.
I’m very pleased I chose this dildo to test and review from the John Thomas Toys range, as it’s a top quality example of a toy box staple. The bright yellow colour marks it as something different, lending an air of alternative fun and making it easy to spot in a pile of sex toys. It’s silicone, which means it’s fully body safe – non-toxic, non-porous and phthalate-free. As it arrives complete with a free vac-u-lock suction cup base you can have fun experimenting with other positions and locations than just laid on the bed.
