Durex Sexlection Gift Box: Sexy Selection Box Reviews
It’s my absolute pleasure to introduce a special assortment of romantic gifts put together by a household name in the world of sexual products: Durex. The brand is best known for their ever-reliable condoms, various types of sexual lubricants as well as introductory sex toys. The launch of the Durex Sexlection Gift Box is an exciting entry for Valentine’s Gifts and Christmas Gifts for couples. I hope to publish more sexy selection box reviews here at the Cara Sutra sex blog shortly.
For now, lets see what our 5 independent reviewers had to say about their Durex Sexlection Boxes once they’d received them and tried them out with their partners:
Louise Lace’s Review
I was lucky enough to be selected to try out this exciting sexy selection box, the Durex Sexlection Gift Box, as one of Cara Sutra’s regular sex product reviewers.
The Durex Sexlection Box is being marketed as a Valentines Day gift set, hmmm, its play on the word ‘selection’ reminds me of Christmas, and chocolate selection boxes not Valentines Day. Hubby and I did have a giggle trying to wrap our mouths around the name, Sexlection doesn’t quite roll off the tongue, Sex-lect-ion. Say it fast and it sounds like you have a mouthful of marshmallows. Very amusing 🙂
The packaging itself is very attractive, it reminds me of either a box of chocolates, with its rich deep purple colours and gold swirling text or, of a gift set of perfume. The reverse of the box gives details of what is contained within the box, precautionary information such as how to store, expiry dates etc.
The lid of the Durex Sexlection Box magnetically seals to the outer wall and it opens with a firm pull. Disappointingly, on first opening, the contents were not in their correct positions. The inner carton is a card insert with holes cut where the three products should sit, not a moulded plastic which would have gripped the products in place.
Durex Thin Feel Condoms
The Durex Thin Feel condoms come in a cellophane sealed box containing 12 condoms and an information leaflet. The packaging provides basic safety information such as only using each condom once and advice on using lubricants and which are suitable for use with these condoms. In addition, there are a series of product promises such as “Thin for greater sensitivity”, “Easy-on shape and teat ended for comfort and fit” and “The special way we make our condoms means they smell better”.
With these claims in mind, Hubby and I set about giving the Durex Thin Feel Condoms a workout…
The condom packets are red and silver in colour to match the outer packaging. Personally, I prefer black or gold packets as I like to tuck them in my stocking tops, and colours are noticeable through lace. The foil packs are sealed in pairs by a perforated line, with the pairs easily separated with a quick tug. The packets opened fairly easily with a firm tear with dry hands, however, I did have to wipe my hands free of any lube as the thick foil was a little tricky to open when slippy.
The condom felt slightly greasy in my fingers but I was able to grip the larger teat with my index and middle fingers with ease, and use my thumb and ring finger to roll it into place. As for the ‘better smell’: these condoms do smell, its not an offensive smell but they definitely have an odour. I would describe the odour to that of a burst birthday balloon.
We tried the initial penetration without any additional lubricant as the packaging claimed the condoms contained lubricant. Whilst my Hubby was able to penetrate me, I was quick to suggest we add some additional lubricant. Thankfully, Cara had also sent me a lubricant to review as one of her regular reviewers, and we were able to add that to the mix and continue with our session.
From my point of view, the sex felt the same as with any other condom. A few of my Hubby’s veins and ridges could be felt, however, he confirmed that these condoms definitely allowed him to feel more – and although he could feel the condom in place during our session, he did not feel stifled by it.
To ensure we gave the condoms a good trial run, for our next session we used the condoms as part of oral sex. Again the condom rolled on with ease, the smell of them is even more apparent when you are nose to teat, and taste wise, there isn’t a strong flavour to them but you may want to add a splash of flavoured lubricant if you prefer. I wasn’t keen on these condoms for oral sex as the teat overhangs the tip of the penis quite a bit, as a result it kept catching my throat making me gag!
Durex Thin Feel condoms provide a comfortable fit to the wearer and they do feel thinner in comparison to others available within this brand. We’d rate these condoms 7/10 as they did have a funny smell, I did require additional lubricant and the gagging incident wasn’t my sexiest moment in the bedroom.
Durex Play Vibrations Love Ring
On to the Durex Play Vibrations Love Ring. This product comes in a purple shiny plastic, heat sealed packet with a ‘tear here’ strip, similar to that of a share bag of Maltesers (other confectionery is available). Once opened, the packaging can not be reused, as the product is effectively a ‘one-use’ only item. The packaging explains that “The Durex Play Vibrations has been designed to bring up to 20 minutes of quivering pleasure to both of you…” so storing the Love Ring after use shouldn’t cause a problem.
The Durex Play Vibrations Love Ring is safely held within a moulded plastic box which easily opened with the pull tabs at the top. An information leaflet is stuck to the box, this contains details on how to wear the ring and the manufactures information.
The product itself is a basic cock ring design with an additional, bullet vibrator style built in. Nowhere on the packaging or in the information leaflet does it state what the device is made from, not good 🙁 I shall keep my fingers crossed that it is made from a body-safe, Phthalate free material. Measuring at 3.5cm diameter unstretched and approximately 15cm when stretched to its extreme, the Vibrations Play Love Ring should be a comfortable fit for most men. As a side note, if you are using this device with a condom, the condom should be put on first.
We began by sliding the ring to the base of his erect penis. Whilst the ring gripped his skin it wasn’t a tight grip. The vibration bullet rested at the top, working on the theory that it would make contact with my clitoris during penetration. A quick push on the on/off switch and the Love Ring buzzed to life. It only has one setting and it is a very high pitched, buzzy vibration, not something I could stand prolonged contact with, but as the contact was intermittent I could adjust to the sensations. My Hubby was able to feel the vibrations travelling down the length of his penis but made very little difference to his testicles in this position. We also tried with the vibrating part underneath his shaft to rest on his testis, this made very little difference to me but it certainly pleased my Hubby, who happily reached his climax with the additional stimulation.
With the vibration bullet positioned to touch my clitoris, in the missionary position the vibrations didn’t quite hit the target and had me wriggling to get the positioning right. A quick flip over so that I was on top meant that I could angle my pelvis to allow the vibrating part of the ring to connect. OK, I admit, this hit the spot and within no time I had reached my climax, dragging Hubby there with me.
All in all, the Durex Vibrations Play is a nifty little toy to bring a little fun into the bedroom and offers the users a chance to try a cock ring style device before purchasing a multi functional, rechargeable version. We’d rate this product 8/10, losing a few marks for the lack of information on what it is made from and its single speed setting.
Durex Play O Orgasm Enhancing Gel
Lastly the Durex Sexlection Box contains a bottle of O Orgasm Enhancing Gel, which promises “…a unique combination of ingredients that create a multitude of cooling, warming and tingling sensations all at the same time…”
Durex aren’t holding back with their promises here and back up their claims with results of research tests that they have carried out.
The reverse of the packaging gives ingredient, storage and manufacturers information as well as directions for use.
Inside the card box there is a glass jar of O Orgasm Enhancing Gel, A pump dispenser attachment and lid and. an information leaflet, this leaflet differs from the others as it focuses on what an orgasm is and some statistics and benefits of having an orgasm, for example, stress relief.
The glass jar containing 15ml liquid (approximately 30 uses) easily attaches to the pump dispenser by simply screwing the two together, with its clear glass and discreet logo, this product could easily fit in on a dressing table of face creams etc without raising suspicion. It only took a few pumps for a small amount of product to be dispensed. It is a clear, fairly thick, non greasy gel, of which only 2 small drops are required. Initially this product has a very chemical smell, but this dissipates as you massage it onto your clitoris and intimate areas, as for the taste, that too is very chemical, this product has a strange affect on the tongue, ranging from tingling and numb feelings to producing a lot of saliva, for a long time….This lasted for at least an hour after we had stopped using the gel!
As this product is designed for women, I kicked off my panties and handed the jar over to Hubby for him to put it to work. Gingerly dabbed a little of the gel on and around my clitoris and slowly massaged the area, to begin with the gel felt like any other lubricant, then it felt like my Hubby was blowing softly on my intimate areas. Then that pleasant blowing sensation turned to a very cold, almost ice like feel very quickly and remained unpleasantly cold for quite some time as my Hubby continued to tease and stroke me. The cold then reached normal skin temperature, relaxing my body again, before building to quite a strong burn, by this point my body almost shut down from its pending orgasm and my body was quivering in fear rather than pleasure. Hubby had to change tempo of his movements to distract me from the burn to ensure that I didn’t end up shouting “Enough!” rather than “Yes!” Whilst the gel did change from cold to hot, at no point did I notice any tingling sensations. Although I admit I did reach orgasm whilst using this product, the sensations produced by it were so extreme at times, that I credit my orgasm to my Hubby knowing my body rather than the effects of the gel.
Although The Durex O Orgasm Enhancing Gel did mostly what it said regarding creating “…a multitude of cooling, warming and tingling sensations”, unfortunately, it just isn’t for me. I rate this product 4/10.
As a novelty gift to spice up an evening at home, the Durex Sexlection Box ticks a lot of boxes. Add a few candles and a bottle of wine and you are sure to have some fun with this little set – just be a little cautious with the gel!
Overall, we rate this product 7/10.
Firstly thank you to Cara Sutra for giving me the chance to test the Durex Sexlection Gift Box!
The Durex Sexlection Box is a great little gift for couples who are maybe in a new relationship (or a couple who rely on condoms as their main form of contraception), and those who are interested in dabbling with sex toys but don’t have too much experience. It’s a great introduction to the world of buzzy toys and orgasm enhancers.
Included in the Durex Sexlection Box are 12 thin feel lubricated condoms, one 20 minute single use vibrating cock ring, and a 15ml bottle of orgasm enhancing gel. The box itself is rather attractive, albeit a bit large for its purpose. A sturdy cardboard box, with a magnetic closure makes it look and open just like a box of chocolates! I had intended to keep my box as it seems ideal for storing little bits and pieces in, but unfortunately the glue holding it together is very weak and after only a week mine is falling apart.
Anyway, on to the contents!
Durex Thin Feel Condoms
Having been in a relationship for around 10 years, we rely on the contraceptive pill rather than condoms. When we first began our relationship, Durex condoms were the first we tried but back then we didn’t like the feel, fit or smell of them. We opted for a competitor condom brand that suited us better, so this is our first time using Durex since then, and we have never tried this particular condom before.
The condoms are individually wrapped in red foil packets and claim to be easy to put on due to their shape. My husband said that he had no issue fitting the condom, although it didn’t seem any “easier” than any other one he has put on before. The fit was perfect for him, and there was some leftover condom so those with even longer penises would have no problem fitting in these condoms.
These condoms also claim to smell better. Now if they can live up to that claim then that is a great benefit! During foreplay and sex I could not smell the condom at all! Usually as soon as the packet is open, my sensitive nose can pick up the rubbery smell immediately. With these, I smelt nothing. In order to write this part I am actually smelling one up close and although it does have a faint aroma, I definitely wouldn’t be able to identify that as a condom in a blind sniff test (if such thing existed!).
They are thinner than regular condoms, but to be honest during sex I could feel that there was a condom, and so could my husband. I really don’t think that when you are used to feeling skin contact, that anything could come close to that. My husband felt that the condom did still lessen his sensitivity, and I didn’t feel as much pleasure either.
My main issue from these condoms was the feel of them. We were both in the mood and turned on, but within minutes of using them I felt incredibly dry down below. They are lubricated but to me I could feel a lot of chaffing and became quite sore. We applied a water based lube which helped to reduce the friction and irritation but that seemed to somehow enhance the presence of the condom, reducing sensitivity even more.
Durex Play Vibrations Cock Ring
The cock ring supplied is a 20 minute single use, simple jelly style ring. It has a simple single on/off button. You can get more than one use out of it by turning it off after use, but you cannot change the battery once it has died.
The jelly material makes the cock loop very stretchy (I can easily fit it around my wrist) however it is also very thin. My husband noted that although it was easy to put on, the loop was a bit uncomfortable and if used for the full 20 minutes would start to dig in.
From my point of view the vibrations were stronger than I expected, although they were very buzzy and loud. When used during sex I found that the vibes didn’t travel well so I needed constant clitoral contact to feel pleasure from it, and even that wasn’t enough to bring me to orgasm.
I did however find that the vibrations from the ring were needed to take my mind off of the condom, so when used together I did get a pleasant sensation that I would have missed using the condoms alone.
Durex Play O Arousal Gel
If I am completely honest, this is what I was most looking forward to using out of the Durex Sexlection Gift Box. In the past I have found gels and creams to be rather hit and miss. I was expecting big things from a big name like Durex.
The orgasm gel box is very simple and sophisticated and I was elated to find that the bottle inside was glass! It looks absolutely stunning and reminds me of an expensive skin serum that you would most likely see on a dressing table. The elegance of the small bottle is something I have rarely seen from a sex gel, and one that looks as though it could easily cost upwards of £25.
The pump lid makes it easy to dispense the correct amount as recommended on the box, and allows for an easy application.
I tried the recommended 2 drops and applied it to my clitoris, and the surrounding area. It claims to be condom safe so there are no issues using it alongside the condoms or ring provided.
When I applied the gel I felt an immediate coolness down below, although I noted no tingly sensation. During sex I hardly noticed the gel was there! Although my clitoris felt cold, it wasn’t anymore sensitive that usual and even when it was rubbed I could barely feel anything. I dare say that the coolness had some kind of numbing effect on me and made everything less sensitive! For me the coolness only lasted less that ten minutes, so if I had have experienced pleasure from it, I would have needed to reapply several times during a session so I could easily see the bottle running out before the 3 month use by date.
I do feel a slight sadness that my immediate excitement of the gel was soon replaced by sadness, but all gels are different so this might be perfect for others!
All in all I think the Durex Sexlection Box is a great idea for Valentine’s Day, but I do think it could be tweaked for the future. I think it could easily fit into a smaller box, which would be more practical and make you feel like you were getting more for your money. I would also like to see a water based lube included with the box as I think you really need it, and if this box is bought by people who haven’t used lube before they might be disappointed. It’s also a great way to bring lube to people who probably haven’t considered using it because the condoms are already pre lubed.
It’s usually a given to receive chocolates on Valentine’s Day, so I’m guessing that what Durex got their packaging idea from. Other than Durex splashed across the front of it, the box is really pretty and shall be recycled to store cock rings/nipple clamps and other little fiddly bits, as it’s got a strong magnetic lid. Loads of thought has gone into the box and it’s kinda sad that I love it more than the contents. Inside the lid, Durex have written about how they want you to have a fulfilled sex life and all that kinda jazz. Inside the Durex Sexlection Gift Box, nestled on a velvet coated card is a 12 pack of Durex Thin Feel Condoms, Durex Play O Gel and a Durex Play Vibrations Cock Ring.
Durex Play O Gel
This stuff has intrigued me for years. I have read loads regarding how good it is but after using the tingle lube I decided to stray away from using Durex products completely until the opportunity presented itself to me and as one of Cara’s regular reviewers I finally got a chance to see what the hype was. Inside the box, you’ll find the pump and a glass pot containing 15ml of gel. I love how they are packaged separately to prevent spillages in transit.
The Durex Play O Gel has a really thick consistency, doesn’t taste too bad but does have an aroma similar to one you would smell at the dentists. Not a bad smell, we quite like it. On application, reaction time is a few mins, it starts cold, then tingly and I found when my OHs fingers touched me I felt heat, hotter than I normally would. I applied it to him before giving him head he experienced similar, with heat off my tongue or blowing on him. We both really enjoyed it. Found it lasted quite a while before needing to be reapplied.
Durex Thin Feel Condoms
I’m ashamed to say this was my first ever time putting on a condom. Yes, ever and first time didn’t go well. My OH applied the next one telling me I put it on inside out ( I actually hadn’t, they aren’t very forgiving for girthier men and it got stuck).
He tore his one, which resulted in me keeling over laughing. It’s a good thing we don’t depend on condoms as a method of contraception because if going on that night, I’d be popping one out yearly. Anyways, third times a charm and I managed to do it and stayed in correct position. Thin, yes… still able to feel it- very much so. They are very meh to be honest. But, they do smell good. From my memory, condoms used to smell vile so they have improved that.
Durex Play Vibrations Cock Ring
I have vague memories using one of these when we first got together and it was kinda pants back then so I was interested to see if they improved on it. On retrieving it out of the packet, I automatically spotted additional nodules on the side of the ring designed for clitoral stimulation, and other than that ,it appears to be the same.
Also, the packet claims it will provide 20 minutes of playtime. On pushing the purple button, the buzzy bullet inside the pvc cock ring fired to life. It is quite powerful for such a tiny bullet but it’s buzzy and that’s as sure guarantee I ain’t gonna climax using it. To be honest, even if my clit liked buzzy things, the cock ring doesn’t even reach it. We tried in various positions but all i got was a faint buzz here and there and definitely not enough to blow my socks off.
I will admit, I am disappointed with various things in the box yet I’m still glad I volunteered for it as the O gel was a surprising find. I think this box is well suited to couples who haven’t dabbled in sex toys before as there is something for him and her and lots of ways to mix it up. Gel is fantastic and I think will help even the fussiest clits to orgasm.
Confession time: I’m a 35 year old woman and had never used a Durex product in my life before this month. The very word ‘Durex’ has always reminded me of two things: the dirty jokes my older cousins would tell when I was a kid – none of which I understood – and the realisation in my early teens of exactly what those jokes meant, and therefore what those Durex things in my parent’s bedroom were actually for.
So the Durex Sexlection Gift Box was my first foray into a range of products my immature self has avoided forever. The question is, had I been missing anything?
Well, inside of a purple gift box that puts me in mind of celebrity perfumes (think Katy Perry’s Purr) sits three products:
- A box of 12 Thin Feel Condoms
- ‘Play’ vibrating cock ring
- ‘O’ orgasm enhancing gel
Those items are a very nice little selection in my opinion, and I’ll attack each one here in order of abuse. I mean use. Obviously.
Durex Play O Orgasm Enhancing Gel
First up was the Durex Play O Gel.
Though I don’t use them every time something touches my clit, I do like orgasm enhancers, and I have a few favourites that I always have in the potions drawer. I was immediately impressed when I opened the white and pink O box and pulled out a weeny glass bottle. The pump was in the box too, and I had to take the cap off the bottle and screw it on myself. Something felt extra hygienic about that, and I liked it.
Like I said, the bottle is very small, yet very cute. It’s filled with 15mls of clear gel, which is the consistency of loose hold hair gel. It smells almost exactly like the pink, watered down minty mouth wash you get at the end of a dentists visit; not unpleasant, but not lovely either. It smells chemically, and it has a good right to, given what’s in it.
The ingredients list contains a few things that set alarm bells ringing for some people, propylene glycol and parabens being two of them. But as I’ve said in other reviews, I’ve never reacted badly to those ingredients so don’t stress too much.
I really like this gel. Just two pumps of it gently rubbed on to my clit is enough to get me feeling all tingly, and after application there’s a few different sensations to be felt. It’s both warming and cooling, depending on what your hands/toy/partner is doing, and the tingles it provides really do heighten sensation. I wouldn’t say it’s something that would be enough to tip me over the edge on those days I can’t come for love nor money, but it does enhance play when my body is in the mood to go there. I wouldn’t recommend putting it anywhere near your mouth though, because that is most unpleasant, but we’ve found it okay for use during sex, with added lube of course.
Durex Thin Feel Condoms
Next came the condoms.
Now while my OH’s cock isn’t something that would give Goliath penis envy, it is above what is considered ‘average’. We’ve never had an issue with condom fit before, and I’m pleased to say the dreaded Durex *inner child cringes* didn’t become the first to give us problems.
Here’s another confession: I am one 100% crap at putting condoms on my OH and always have been, so he does it himself, and he was more than happy with the fit. He said he could tell the difference between wearing it and not wearing it during sex, and the thin feel did make a difference on how much he could feel over other brands we have. They’re strong enough to withstand some vigorous thrusting, whether on a cock or a toy, and that suits me fine as I always have my OH use condoms during anal sex, and I use them with silicone anal toys too.
Durex Play Vibrations Cock Ring
And finally, out came the cock ring.
I admit, I put off using this as long as I could, cos I was convinced it was gonna be rubbish. And I was right. It’s made from jelly rubber and stretches enough to accommodate a decent girth. The bullet that provides the vibes is a small, pill shaped thing and there’s a purple on/off button on the top. It’s a single use affair and you get an approximant 20 minutes play from it.
To be honest, it’s not something that I would ever buy for myself, though as part of this set it fits quite nicely, especially if you’re giving it as a gift for a naughty night in. I honestly don’t think anyone who is accustomed to sex toys will get much out of this cock ring in the way of vibes. It’s super buzzy, so much so that if you press it firmly against the skin it almost feels like it’s stopped. Only the most insanely sensitive clits will get anything out of this. Those and clits that have never felt vibrations before, as I can remember that the sheer surprise of feeling such a new sensation when I first used something buzzy sent me racing to orgasm.
As a cock ring in the sense of hardening and prolonging an erection, I don’t think this or any other jelly like toys would work. They stretch too much and don’t spring back to their original tightness, so if you’re after something that will provide those things look for something else.
On the whole, this Durex Sexlection Gift Box is good fun. There’s something practical, something useful and the third thing is either something novel or just a novelty, depending on your experience levels with vibrating sex toys.
Carnal Queen’s Review
I think we’ve probably all just about recovered from the over-indulgences of Christmas, but you might still be at the stage where you’d wanna punch me for flaunting chocolate selection boxes in your face. I know, I get it, we’re in a new year, resolutions and all that jazz! Have no fear though, this is a totally different kind of sweet and sexy selection box made by Durex for Valentine’s Day, and it’s aptly named the Durex Sexlection Gift Box – D’ya see what they did there, ey?
So, what’s in the box?
Durex Thin Feel Condoms (12)
Durex Play O Orgasm Enhancing Gel (15ml)
Durex Play Vibrations Cock Ring (1)
Durex Thin Feel Condoms (12)
I’ll admit, as a rule, myself and my OH rarely use condoms for sex, but we have used these thin feel condoms in the past, and it was fun to revisit them for the purposes of this Durex Sexlection Gift Box review. Durex make some fairly bold claims about their thin feel condoms …
‘Try Durex Thin Feel condoms that while, still providing the same high level of
reassurance and protection, they’re shaped to be easier to put on and provide a sleek fit and feeling during sex’
… so, are they realistic claims? Well for me, yes and no. Sure, they’re thinner than your average condom, but they’re the same teat-shaped design that we’re used to seeing, and in reality, we find them no different in fit or how they go on. It looks like a regular condom, and it goes on with the same amount of effort as a regular condom would. I know people can dislike using condoms because they feel that they impede their pleasure during sex.
These thin feel condoms don’t really feel much different to me during intercourse, it’s obvious to me that there’s a sheath between me and my OH, and I think it feels just like any other condom would, but my OH is definitely aware of the difference between these thin feel condoms, and regular ones. He’s certain that he can feel more than he usually would, with a regular condom, and has said that they provide him with the closest-to-nature condom sex he’s ever had. That’s obviously a huge plus for him, and he’s happily admitted that if we needed to use condoms all of the time, these would be his choice.
They do have a distinct condom smell, and because of this, I’d only use them for oral sex with the addition of a flavoured lubricant.
Durex Play O Orgasm Enhancing Gel
This was the first ever product of this type, that I tried myself, years ago, soon after it’s launch by Durex. It works because of the addition of arginine in the ingredients.
Arginine helps increase blood-flow to where it’s applied, and therefore makes the area more responsive and sensitive. I really liked it when I first tried it, and trying it again as part of this sexy selection box has certainly been interesting. It kind of messes with your head, because it gives you a feeling of warmth and tingle, as well as giving you a cool feeling too, depending on what you’re doing.
If my OH blows on the gel once it’s been applied, it’s like an icy blast, which I can only liken to drinking freezing cold water after cleaning your teeth. It’s got a very menthol smell (think dentist spit juice), and although it can be used for oral sex, there’s no way I’d be using it for that – well, not unless I wanted to confuse my tongue anyway! Besides, it tastes pretty rank to me!
The feelings and sensations I get from it, last about 5 or 6 minutes for me, and at times it feels quite lovely. It is a mind fuck though, and I can see that some women might find it uncomfortable, or too strange a sensation for them. It certainly does increase sensitivity for me though, and it’s definitely worth trying and experimenting with.
The gel is condom friendly, so no worries there at all, but check the ingredients list doesn’t contain elements that you’d have issues with.
Durex Play Vibrations Cock Ring
This is probably my least favourite product in the Durex Sexlection Gift Box. It’s a one-use vibrating cock ring that runs on pre-installed batteries that can’t be replaced. Lasting around 20 minutes, the ring could be re-used if you were done before the batteries die, but because of the material it’s made from, I probably wouldn’t recommend that.
Durex doesn’t offer the material info up on the packaging or their website (bad Durex!), but from investigation on the internet, it seems the jelly rubber used to make the stretchy cock ring, contains phthalates. It’s worth doing some research into phthalates, to make sure you’re making informed decisions on products you buy.
Anyway, the cock ring is waterproof, and fairly quiet, but it’s incredibly buzzy. I don’t like buzzy vibrations, they annoy my skin and eventually desensitise me. They don’t penetrate the skin tissue, instead they just tickle the surface, and sound like an angry bee. I also find the shape of the ring to be a little uncomfortable for me, because the horizontal nature of the bullet means it’s bashing my labia awkwardly. Not to mention the fact that the bullet doesn’t always reach my clitoris during penetration. Me being on top certainly helps this, but to be honest though, I find it all more annoying than pleasurable.
If you have experimented with sex toys already, like me, you might think it’s just pants. If it’s your first outing with toys though, you might like it, as it’s certainly a place to start if you’ve never tried a vibrating cock ring before. OH says it’s comfortable, and the single button control makes it easy to use. You can use the ring with a condom, just be sure to put the condom on first.
Collectively, I’d score the Durex Sexlection Gift Box 8/10. That might surprise you, but I like this box and the idea behind it, for many reasons.
First off, it’s great value for money! You’re basically just paying for the Play O gel and getting the rest for free. Maybe you use the condoms already, so for a few extra pounds, you’re getting to try two new products, which is a pretty good deal!
If you don’t use condoms, don’t write the box off either – sometimes the ‘mess’ associated with sex isn’t always wanted or appropriate, depending on where you are. Why not use the condoms for spontaneous sex, perhaps in unusual places, to spice things up a little? I also love the box because I think it’s a great, gentle introduction if you’re perhaps looking to introduce new things into the bedroom. It’s inoffensive, and a bit of fun, and could be you first tentative steps into a whole new world.
