John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake Silicone Dildo Review
Review of the glow in the dark John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake by Tigerlily
While most dildos are phallic and designed for vaginal or anal penetration, the Colon Snake, as the name would hint at, is designed solely for ass play. Deep ass play. Real deep. Even the smallest size they sell is over 30 inches long.
John Thomas Toys kindly sent me their John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake, Glow in the Dark edition, in Medium Size and Soft firmness, to have a go at. Here’s what I thought of the slithering beast.

Packaging
I don’t normally comment on packaging, but the Colon Snake arrives cutely coiled up, with a tape measure attached so you can measure how far you get. It’s a nice touch, though not as cool as having measurements printed directly on the toy. It’s also a very useful measuring tape to have around, and it isn’t labelled as anything sexual in nature, so you can keep it in the kitchen drawer.
Other than that, you should see a golden sticker of authenticity, and they’ll also be a label indicating the firmness you chose, as well as one to remind you to wash the toy before use.
Design & Material
The John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake is a simple toy, with the only notable design feature being a bulbous snake head, complete with eyes and a subtle mouth that are almost impossible to see in the photos thanks to our colour choice of glow-in-the-dark.
The rest of the toy is long and mostly smooth, culminating in a large tapered base to prevent it getting lost, assuming you can actually manage to get that far.
It has a very subtle snakeskin texture, but again, it’s impossible to see in the photos even with the contrast whacked up, so you’ll have to just take my word for that. It’s not particularly a tactile toy, and you won’t be able to feel any of those textures as it’s inserted.
One useful feature is a number of slightly raised circles along the length, roughly every 4 inches from the tip to the base (but this is specific to the Medium size—the distance will be scaled appropriately on other sizes). These are easy to count as you play, so it gives you a rough indication of how far you’ve gotten it in.
While not the most exciting design in the John Thomas Toys range by any means, the Colon Snake is exclusively designed for depth training, rather than playing with textures or stretching.
We opted for Medium size, soft firmness, and the glow in the dark colour. The main body of the snake has a circumference of 4 inches (and a slightly wider 5 inches at the head), with 34 inches total insertable length, and weighs just under 0.9kg.
Even the smallest size is still an impressive 30 inches in length, with a 3.5 inch circumference body. The largest size, Extra Large, goes up to 45 inches insertable and 5 inch circumference.
The John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake doesn’t have a Vac-U-Lock cavity, therefore it can’t be used with the Vac-U-Lock accessories or the standard suction cup adaptors that come free with other John Thomas Toys. This doesn’t matter, but it’s worth noting anyway since nearly all the other John Thomas Toys do feature a Vac-U-Lock cavity.
In theory, you could use the tapered base to fit it into an O-ring strap-on harness, but the thought of trying to peg someone with a 30-inch floppy snake is hilarious.
Playing With The Colon Snake
Though you could go in without any preparation at all, it would be best to do a deep enema beforehand; use a silicone shower head like the Titus Silicone Series Shower Shot. Fasting for a meal or two would also make things easier of course, though it’s not strictly necessary.
You’ll also need plenty of lube; a lube shooter of some kind would be helpful to get it in deep, rather than just on the Colon Snake as you insert it. In fact, I love using the John Thomas Toys Sampson Squirting Dildo as a precursor to playing with the snake.
Start as you would any other toy; it’s not difficult to insert, thanks to the tapered snake head. It should go in easy. As you reach the back of the anal cavity, you’ll meet some resistance. Breathe, relax, and apply constant but light pressure; you should eventually get into the colon, where it’ll be easy for another few inches.
So far, I can get to about halfway past the third ring measurement. This seems to correspond roughly with the first bend, so I need some more practice (and lube) to get past that spot. It’s certainly a challenge, and if one of your kinks is charting various life goals on a spreadsheet, you’ll really enjoy inserting this column.
The John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake is also just as much, if not more fun, on the way out, as it slithers back the way it came.
Should You Buy The Colon Snake?
Deep ass play is a lot of fun, but it needs a lot more preparation and a longer play time to enjoy it fully. I found that in the shower is the best, as it’s both easy to play, I’m fully relaxed, and clean up is simple.
As far as I can tell, the Colon Snake is one of the longest on the market. Compared to other anal depth trainers which are of uniform width, the head provides a little extra stimulation on the way out too, without being so big that it might get caught on something. It’s a fun little feature, and if your fantasy is a snake up the bum, you’re sorted. If not, it’s still fun anyway.
I wouldn’t recommend the glow-in-the-dark colour variation though; stick with the brown and red blend. The bright milky green white means the details of the sculpt are completely hidden, and unless you particularly want to display an eerie albino snake in the corner of your room at night, the glow effect will be wasted.
I’d also look elsewhere if you want more textures. The shaft has a very subtle snakeskin texture, but it’s so subtle I’m not entirely convinced there’s any point to it. Again, perhaps that’s just this colour choice, but I do wish they leaned more heavily into the fantasy snake design elements.
I give the John Thomas Toys Depth Training Colon Snake an 8/10. It’s not for everyone, but this is one slimy critter that’s found a new home coiled snugly in my toy chest.
