Packaging

The Bettie Bull Whip (to give it its full and proper name: Bettie Page Longing For Leather Bullwhip) comes quite decadently encased within a branded, black, lidded box. This lidded box has a glossy card outer sleeve, with a luxurious black diamond cushion back pattern effect reminiscent of smoky jazz and burlesque clubs of the 1940s to 1950s. Slide the box from within the outer card sleeve, then remove the lid of the box. This was quite tricky to do without damaging the box, I would suggest a ribbon pull or somesuch on future batches of manufacture to make the lids easier to remove.

The whip is held in place inside the box courtesy of two elasticated, BP branded straps. A Bettie Page collectors’ card, such as one may have found within those old cigarette boxes, sits beside the whip, while a Bettie Page double sided key fob or phone charm is attached to the velvet feel backing thanks to its integral trigger clip. There is also a disposable sachet of silica gel, to protect the contents during storage and transit to your home.

Material

The leather of the Bettie Page Longing For Leather Bullwhip called to me, to be picked up, felt, stroked and used. Gleaming black, it looked elegant and luxurious even before I held it in my hands, and the diamond style weave of the leather spoke of a high quality product which I would enjoy owning and using.

Size

The bullwhip measures 32.5 inches from handle edge to whip tip. The handle measures just under 6 inches in length, which an indented area for your clenched fist of 4.5 inches approximately. The flame shaped, intoxicatingly intimidating tip measures 2.5 inches in length. These are all my own measurements and I have a feeling that due to the nature of the item, each bullwhip will differ just slightly.

There is a Bettie Page branded hanging loop attached to the handle, in the style of riding crop wrist and hanging loops. This can be used to store the whip on a hook, and/or placed around your wrist during use for added security against slippage. The texture of the braided leather gives you a great grip on the handle anyway, though.

Tangible

The braided weave of the supple leather makes for an incredibly flexible whip.
