Packaging & First Impressions

Silver gives the impression of prestige, luxury, something top quality on offer. The Sliquid Silver Silicone Lube certainly ties into that connotation well, with a neutral if serious black label and cap contrasting the transparent bottle and appropriately silver writing on the label. Lube just got serious.

This is the smaller bottle at 125ml, with a 250ml bottle also available. Goodness knows how many silicone lube sex sessions you’d need to get through the 250ml, this 125ml is more than enough to last me until the year is out, probably. I literally just need the tiniest drizzle of this silicone lubricant and it’s slippery enough to last me the sex session – perhaps a drizzle more if for anal sex or some kind of self-challenging masturbation marathon. Don’t tell me you’ve not tried it.

How To Dispense

Dispensation is by depressing one side of the cap so a spout pops up. When you first receive the lubes there is a peel off disc under the screw-off cap before you can dispense the lubricant. It’s the little touches like this safety seal which set Sliquid apart.

The disc ensures that there are no spillages between manufacture and arriving at your door.

Scent & Taste

The lubricant smells fresh and lightly citrussy (despite nothing citrus in the ingredients) when I unscrew the cap and take a sniff. During use so little of the lube is dispensed that there’s no real discernible scent at that point. Sliquid Silver Silicone lube coats my finger tip when I dip it in rather than form a globule as the water based types do. Touching it to my tongue there’s what I can only describe as a soft tang. As oxymoronic as that may be, it’s true. It’s not unpleasant. This isn’t an edible, flavoured or lickable lube but it’s nice to know it’s not entirely choke-worthy if you do happen to get some in your mouth.

Official Spiel

Here’s what Sliquid have to say (please take no note of the excessive use of exclamation marks -sigh-):

This is a premium silicone blend that is formulated to be ultra long lasting and 100% waterproof! Be careful with toys and your sheets! It is made from an ultra concentrated blend of pharmaceutical grade silicone so it will last for hours with only a few drops!

  • Hypoallergenic and non-toxic
  • Ideal for sensual massage
  • May stain clothing & sheets
  • Uniquely blended to emulate your body’s own natural lubrication

Ingredients

The ingredients are vegan and there are only three of them:

Dimethicone, dimethiconol, cyclopentasiloxane.

That’s it. Pure and simple silicone lubricant. Lovely.

During Use

Usually I really dislike the physical feeling I get from using silicone lubricant. I tend to stay with my water based favourites. Silicone lubricant can be tricky to handle, drizzling down the sides of bottles leaving them slippery to grasp for ever more, feeling dirty and slimy. They can leave my sexual areas feeling itchy, for some unknown reason, because there’s not meant to be anything in silicone lubricants or added to them which could give me this type of irritation.

Saying that, I have tried Sliquid Silver Silicone Lube on a number of occasions now, for use with sex toys and during sex with my partner. I’ve even just applied it to my labia and clitoris as a test and left it, and there’s no residual itch. I don’t have that sensation of finding it impossible to leave coating my body, an undeniable urge to leap up, go to the bathroom and wash every trace of it off with hot soapy water. Yes it leaves my vulva region slippery but I can only tell when I feel it. I don’t have a crawling feeling from it being on me. This is highly unusual for me and a welcome change. I have finally found a silicone lubricant which I believe to be pure enough to use as silicone lubricant should be.

Who wants to rush away to wash off residual lube after masturbation or sex? It can really ruin those post-coital snuggles. Love this stuff.

Sliquid lube reviews

Taking the above into consideration, it’s easy to see why this is a slightly more expensive silicone lube than your run of the mill (and possibly itchy) types. It’s ÂŁ16.95 for 125ml but this bottle is going to last me absolutely ages. If you’re buying a silicone lubricant where you only need a small drizzle, doesn’t it make sense to get the best quality type?
