Lovehoney recently sent me some of their new sex toys to test and review here at the Cara Sutra sex blog, and I’m starting with one of my favourite types of adult products: a bullet vibe! Unboxing
The Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Bullet Massager arrived in Lovehoney’s discreet outer packaging for the post. It’s just a plain brown box with no mention of sex toys or vibrators.
My Mon Ami bullet vibe was housed in a glossy card box with a modern, clean design which has images of the toy as well as product details. Instead of the sex toy being simply placed in a sealed box, the bullet is instead held in a moulded insert behind a transparent plastic front, which means the toy is visible but not accessible when you slide the inner portion out from the card surround. This makes this new style of vibrator packaging perfect for bricks and mortar retail environments as well as just online sales.
Along with the bullet vibrator you get a jackpin/USB charging lead and a couple of guide leaflets.
Instruction Manuals
The Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Bullet Massager is accompanied by two fold-out guides. The Electric Toy Safety Guide details all your general safety guidelines when it comes to charging/recycling the device as well as how not to use the toy, while the Quick-Start Guide provides suggested uses, cleaning & charging info plus instructions for the travel lock function. How To Charge Up
Charging the Lovehoney Mon Ami bullet vibrator is easy thanks to the included jackpin/USB charge lead. Simply push the jackpin end through the silicone covered port on the side of the vibrator (don’t worry, this won’t damage the toy) and the other end into a USB port of your choice.
An LED behind the power/operation button blinks white while charging, which changes to emit a steady glow once the toy is fully charged.
I like to use the USB port on the side of my laptop in my home office, or the multi-USB to mains plug at the side of my bed. These are extremely useful and I strongly recommend everyone has at least one! You can buy them cheaply from Amazon.com and Amazon.co.uk.
The Mon Ami bullet vibe takes about 120 minutes to fully charge from scratch; this provides up to 40 minutes of playtime.
Size
As a bullet vibrator, the Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Bullet Massager is a petite sex toy which fits neatly and comfortably in the palm of your hand. By my measurements the Mon Ami bullet is 3.75 inches/9cm in overall length, with a circumference of 2.75 inches/7cm around the shaft.
How To Operate & Settings
To turn on then access the multiple settings of the Mon Ami bullet massager, just press and hold the front power button for 3 seconds (this is the button above the Lovehoney heart logo).
The bullet vibe will start on the lowest constant vibration setting. Keep pressing to discover the rest of the 10 settings, which include 3 constant speeds and 7 patterns.
Press and hold the power button for 3 seconds again to switch the toy off.
The Mon Ami bullet vibrator is fully waterproof to IPX7 standard, which means you can use it in the bath or shower, plus clean it thoroughly by immersing it in water, without any worry.
Travel Lock
The Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Bullet Massager has a travel lock function which is especially handy on such a petite, portable sex toy. To activate, simply double click the power button. The LED will flash and the bullet will buzz to let you know the travel lock is on. The same process will deactivate the travel lock, as will plugging the toy in to charge.
How It Feels
As someone who requires extremely powerful vibrations in order to climax with a sex toy, I’m always apprehensive when trying out a new bullet vibe. I’m pleased (& relieved) to say that the Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Bullet Massager is powerful enough to get me off, but only on the highest speed of constant vibration, and once I’m already ‘warmed up’.
There’s a lot to love about the Lovehoney Mon Ami bullet vibrator. The joyful sunshine yellow colour is a refreshing change to the usual black, pinks and purples of the sex toy world. It’s made with non-porous, non-toxic silicone material. The bullet massager has been thoughtfully designed with a tapered tip, giving you a choice of flat area or gently pointed edge during use, providing different ways to enjoy the vibrating stimulation. The bullet vibe is rechargeable, fully waterproof and is multi-function with 10 settings altogether. It’s easy to charge, then easy to operate and use. The toy is quiet during use – even on the highest constant setting, someone in the same house wouldn’t hear it beyond a closed door, in my opinion.
All that said, I feel that almost £35 is pretty steep for what is, essentially, a rechargeable bullet vibe. If it were the most powerful, fantastically rumbly little pocket rocket I’d ever experienced, then the price would be less of an issue to me personally. As a bullet vibe which only gets me off on one setting, the highest constant vibration, and only then with a lot of patience and often additional stim, I know I have other, cheaper vibrators in my collection which can get the job done in half the time.
For me, the Lovehoney Mon Ami Silicone Bullet Massager isn’t the star bullet vibrator in my collection, but it isn’t a complete write-off either. It’s just ok. But for £35, I want a bullet vibe to be much more than merely ok.
I realise that as a vibrator veteran, having tried thousands of sex toys in my years of reviewing, I have perhaps become fussy and require more extreme stimulation than others when it comes to clitoral vibrators. I also suffer with libido peaks and troughs due to the perimenopause.
This is the way of personal use items; your mileage may, and likely will, vary. A toy which feels like it has just medium power vibrations to me, may feel like the most powerful vibrator ever to someone else – perhaps someone new to sex toys or who doesn’t like or need jackhammer thrills to the clit in order to orgasm.

Summary
If you’re looking for a fairly strong bullet vibrator which has a wealth of luxury features, this could be the one. Sure, it’s almost £35, but it’s rechargeable, silicone-covered, quiet, multi-function, fully waterproof and gorgeously sunshine-yellow.
Although this hasn’t made it into the top tier of my own sex toy collection, I recognise that I’ve become used to jackhammer-vibe, extremely intense types – such as the Doxy Wand and the Zumio X. Vibrators which are often reviewed as being ‘too powerful’ for other people. Therefore, although the Lovehoney Mon Ami bullet vibrator wasn’t an all-out win for me personally, I’m sure it will be a hit for many others out there.
