Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise Review

Having spent so many years without owning even a single item from the impressive Liberator repertoire, I can finally make the claim of being a total addict. A sexy slew of Liberator toys have been added to my private collection within the last year. Cut to summer 2016, and Liberator got in touch to arrange some CaraSutra community reviews, which were completed by some extra lucky VIP reviewers. But never in my most optimistic dreams did I think this would lead to me owning the lust-worthy signature piece from Liberator: the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise.

Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise Review
I’m so happy. It’s been a sexy summer. It’s also been a fairly stressful summer, what with the house move, but the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise has definitely helped ease some of those tensions. And in such an elegant, luxurious but unashamedly kinky way.

The Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise arrived in sturdy outer packaging, and although the parcel was large it didn’t look big enough to contain a sexy chaise longue. You’ll find this with the Liberator sex furniture and sex wedges; they’re vacuum packed into zip up bags inside their outer packaging. This is an eco friendly way to pack such large items, a clever way to utilise the foam material inside the products for something more than their supreme comfort. Liberator can fit more boxes in their warehouse no doubt but it also means less packaging waste for the end customer, which means less waste to bin or recycle. Win-win.

The Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise paper label makes the inner package instantly recognisable as being part of the Liberator range, with the bold logo prominently on display and a classy, demurely sexual image decorating the front. There’s also some info about the product on the back – as if you weren’t too excited to read all that gumpf, having just received a super sexy bondage chaise longue in the post.

Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise Review

The Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise box was opened and I discovered the contents: a zipped bag which I presumed held the vacuum compressed Esse chaise, a bag containing the vacuum compressed, curved headrest, a bag containing the black faux leather zip up covers to be slipped on to the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise & its headrest, a transparent ziplock bag containing a liberator black label bondage cuffs set to be used with the chaise and an instruction sheet.

It was only after we had unzipped the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise bag and let it inflate –yes, I recruited my partner in case the inflation knocked me out- that I had a panic about whether I should’ve put the cover on BEFORE inflating. Too late now if so. I doubt anyone on earth could get that inflated chaise back in its little bag. Luckily you’re meant to put the cover on after inflating, and in any case, there would be no way to put it on beforehand. It’s zipped into its little bag and once you unzip and let it out – that’s it. The beast has been released.

Before putting the velvet cover in place we stood back a moment to admire our new piece of sex furniture, and be in awe of its size. It’s not a small item by any means, measuring approx 68 inches in length by 22 inches in width by 22 inches height (higher curve)/16 inches height (shorter curve). In fact I think it’s the biggest product I’ve ever been sent to review. Thank god it’s not an insertable.

If you’re looking at the photos of the Esse Chaise at the foot of our bed please note that we have a king size bed not a double.

Putting the leather-look cover on the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise was much easier than I thought it’d be. I was expecting a proper struggle, but the protective lining that comes already placed on to the foam shape of the Esse Chaise facilitated the placement of the leather-look cover without any real effort. Same with the matching headrest; it took its shape when out of the bag and the cover was easy to fit. The back of the headrest -which fits the curve of the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise beautifully- has a dimpled rubber feel texture to make sure it doesn’t slip while you’re using it on the chaise.

The faux leather cover turned the foam shapes into a sexual furniture piece of real splendour. The deep colour combined with the delicious curves of the piece invite you to climb aboard and lounge, and the sumptuous velvet trim around the base with chrome D rings hints at the kinky mischief to be had while you’re there.

By the way, you’ll notice in some photos in this review the headrest isn’t on the Esse Chaise. This is because I’ve been using it as a back support when typing. It’s absolutely brilliant at keeping me in a more healthy posture and I’ve noticed the benefits after the last couple of months! #Bonus

The Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise also comes with a set of black label bondage cuffs, which are padded black velvet and so match the main chaise, particularly the base. They’re easy to figure out; they have plastic connectors which attach to the tethers which clip on to the D rings on the Esse Chaise. The wrist and ankle cuffs themselves fasten via Velcro – which doesn’t sound too secure until you’re inside them and have no way of escaping. I defy anyone to pull free while in these bondage cuffs, but the Velcro strip also means the one on Top is able to grant extremely quick freedom if the need or desire arises. Velcro attachments also means a snug, tailored fit.

Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise Review

As the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise quite clearly has chrome D rings around the base, I find this piece of furniture inappropriate for placement in the sitting room or in a public area. If I didn’t have children then I probably would keep it on display, though. Not only is it sexy and attractive, it’s also a very comfortable place to lounge. I took the D rings being on show on this piece into consideration when offered the choice between this black label Esse chaise and the other styles from Liberator – in different colours, materials and without D rings – and my love of bondage won out. I’d find a place to keep it away from the smaller members of our family.

So what’s it like to use? We’ve really enjoyed using the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise. There’s a feeling of increased kinkiness using this plush curvaceous piece of sex furniture when your bondage sex games are usually confined to in or on the bed (thanks kids!). Although it’s been stored upright for much of this summer (due to the recent house move) we’ve found a perfect spot for it at the end of our king sized bed in our new bedroom. If the spare room wasn’t being used as a temporary office then I’d SO convert that into a (locked) playroom – the Esse Chaise taking centre stage.

Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise Review

It’s just so comfortable. I know I keep saying that but it really is. The foam insert gives fantastic support and the curves make you feel like you’re being cradled – while you’re being fucked/spanked/whatevered. The taller curve at one end and the shorter one at the other side gives a choice of heights for use as a spanking bench too… or to be bent over with ankles spread and left free or cuffed to the D rings if you’re brave enough. Adding in a spreader bar was extremely intense fun, and I must tell you about that night with the forced orgasm harness and the Doxy sometime…

“The possibilities are endless” and “the only limit is your own imagination” are such overused phrases, particularly when it comes to product descriptions. However, for the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise they seem perfectly apt, if far too trite. It’s more along the lines of, “The sex and bondage accessory you didn’t realise you needed so much, and for so many reasons.” But, you know, shorter and catchier. Like, “Awesome“.

I find that the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise offers that perfect balance for a kinkster: aesthetics, practicality, versatility and supremely comfortable consensual discomfort. Of course the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise can be used simply as a chaise longue if you wish, and upgraded to a supportive sex sofa when you’re in the mood. It has the spectrum covered: you can go from sitting to sex -and more- in seconds.

Although the several D rings around the base hint at extremes of depravity, in reality the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise is perfect for those new to bondage and wishing to explore another level of couples’ intimacy. Of course it would make a glorious and sumptuous addition to a spanking veteran’s dungeon too, but for beginners the versatility of the piece is particularly in its favour. Lounge, relax, have sex if you want, introduce the cuffs… perhaps? It’s entirely up to you.

If I was being especially picky I would love to see an internal section, accessed via a zip, where the cuffs and tethers can be stored between uses. As the length of the tethers mean they just reach over the top edge of the Liberator Black Label Esse Chaise, they don’t sit on top of it but rather mostly fall to the floor. If you don’t want to stand all over the cuffs while you’re walking about you need to find somewhere else to hang them or store them like on hangers in your wardrobe, on a back-of-the-bedroom-door hook or wherever you store the rest of your sex products. At one end of the Esse Chaise, in the velvet base area there could be a zip and a strengthened inner space where the tethers and cuffs could be stored discreetly and conveniently between uses. Overall it doesn’t affect use or my opinion of the piece, I still absolutely love it.
