What Is The Onyx+?
The KIIROO Onyx Plus is an automated, interactive, hands-free penis stroker toy. It can be operated manually, using the on-device controls; via the Feel Connect app, either on your smartphone or remotely by a trusted partner who you’ve shared access with; or controlled automatically from an interactive video script.
This penis toy features ten contracting rings that squeeze the shaft of your penis. Out of the box, it’s suggested for use with penises that are 3-5cm in diameter, and the internal depth of the toy is around 16cm. But if you’re smaller than that, you can buy a tighter sleeve that replaces this and should have a similar experience.
Like all automated mechanical masturbators, it’s a fairly large and noisy toy, at around 26cm long and 9cm square footprint. Compared to other automated strokers, however, it’s actually on the quieter and smaller side.
Without a sleeve fitted, you can see the hard, textured surface of the silicone covering the ring mechanisms. You’ll need to fit the supplied “Superskin” TPE sleeve though before use though, which acts as a soft layer snuggled around your penis. The sleeves are a replaceable component and can rip if you’re playing rough with them.
The internal 1000mAh battery provides about an hour of use and takes four hours to fully recharge. In practice, this means you’ll likely have to recharge after every use, or face disappointment next time.
The KIIROO Onyx Plus is not waterproof in any way, so don’t take it in the shower or submerge it in water to clean it. The sleeve can be removed for easy cleaning, but if you need to clean the ABS plastic body of the Onyx+ itself, use a damp cloth or sex toy cleaning wipes.
Getting Started with The Onyx+
Before you can use the KIIROO Onyx Plus for the first time, you should plug it in and charge to calibrate the battery to full. And before inserting anything, you should fix the included sleeve into the toy. It’s a very floppy, soft, white sleeve that can only be described as a really thick condom, rather than what you’d traditionally think of as a stroker.
Fitting the sleeve involves carefully prying off the protector cap, then the top securing ring. This is easier said than done, especially the first time, as it’s held very securely. You may even need to pry it off with a flathead screwdriver. Place in the sleeve, then snap the ring back on. It should click into place. And of course, you’ll need lube. Plenty of lube.
Note that if you find the included sleeve is a little loose on you, you can purchase a pack of Tight Fit replacements. Fitting these to the toy works in exactly the same way as the regular sleeve, and we requested a pack for testing.
It’s Interactive
Like all KIIROO’s interactive toys, the KIIROO Onyx Plus is fully compatible with the Feel Connect app, which simplifies connecting your toy to sites like PornHub and other online providers, as well as offering remote play. You can also use it with immersive VR videos through the SexLikeReal app for desktop or Quest 2, but you’ll still need a smartphone to act as the link between the video site and the toy, as it only works over Bluetooth.
The toy should then work in sync with whatever video you watch, assuming the video has a motion script pre-programmed. If the actress moves upwards, you’ll feel the rings towards the top contract, then work their way down your shaft as she comes back again. It’s a unique experience that really adds to the immersion.
Unfortunately, supported content is still thin on the ground. All videos require some additional steps to painstakingly script what action is currently occurring, which is why most studios don’t bother. Often, the job is left to third-party coders, who then sell the interactive scripts separately.
KIIROO has attempted to rectify this with the launch of their new FeelMe AI subscription service. This is a browser plugin that automatically analyses movements and sends the resulting motion to your toy, without the need for a pre-programmed script. I haven’t had a chance to test this out yet though, so I can’t recommend it. In theory, if you really enjoy the interactive portion of the KIIROO Onyx Plus and want to use it with a virtually unlimited set of videos, the FeelMe AI subscription service is worth investigating.
How Does It Feel?
It’s difficult to describe the KIIROO Onyx Plus because the sensations are unique. It doesn’t really feel like “stroking”, that’s for sure. It’s a lot more… mechanical. A buzzing, slight squeezing of your shaft. Sort of like a blowjob, or a hand lightly squeezing up and down, but also, not.
In truth, I haven’t been able to cum from the Onyx+, no matter what mood I was in, with manual or interactive content. It wasn’t unpleasant or painful, of course, but it wasn’t… enough. It was more like a little tease before we got to the main show. It just wasn’t as good as other toys I own.
This could be a size issue. If you’re on the smaller side like I am, the mechanism doesn’t seem to scale down as well. In fact, it doesn’t scale at all. The core of the machine is the same diameter regardless of the size of your instrument. The tighter fit sleeves mean you get some sensation, but ultimately the material is thicker, so the sensation is less. Conversely, if you’re particularly well hung, the default Onyx+ sleeve might feel too tight. There’s certainly a Goldilocks penis size for the KIIROO Onyx Plus, and I’m not it. You can always add a bit of manual action into the experience if you want, but I prefer a totally hands-free experience.

Are There Any Alternatives?
If you’re reading this review, it’s because you’re looking for a new masturbator that has at least some element of automation to it. I get it; wanking can be tiring sometimes. So, if you want automatic action, perhaps some video synchronization or remote play, but aren’t keen on the Onyx concept of contracting rings, what is there instead?
Luckily, KIIROO are the market leader in automated toys. The KIROO Keon, which uses interchangeable sleeves to provide real stroking action, provides unparalleled realism and immersion. This can work with manual control over the speed and depth and uses the exact same software to sync with online videos. Undoubtedly it offers the most realistic sensation out of all KIIROO’s offerings, though all those mechanisms make it a much noisier and bulkier toy than the KIIROO Onyx Plus.

However, KIIROO has just added another killer feature to the Keon that gives it an even further edge over the Onyx+… a dildo adaptor. You can now use the Keon the other way around, by affixing a smart adaptor into place and putting your favourite vac-u-lock-equipped dildo onto the end. You then have an advanced, dynamic depth adjustable fucking machine. Not only is the Keon one of the most advanced male strokers around, it’s also now one of those most cost-effective and advanced fucking machines.
The other great alternative from KIIROO is the Pulse Solo Interactive, a collaboration with Hot Octopuss that brings their interactive software suite and video synchronisation to the classic Pulse Solo “guybrator”. The Pulse is more like a traditional vibrator, but one that wraps around the penis directly to provide hands-free stimulation directly to the frenulum.

Ultimately, all three offer the same software features, and use the same app. You can manually control the action, or sync up with suitable videos. So in the end, the choice is down to which kind of stimulation you prefer.
For a realistic stroking action, go with the Keon. Also choose the Keon if you have a partner who could use it as a fucking machine (or want to try a little anal play yourself).
If you prefer intensely stimulating vibrations, choose the Pulse Solo Interactive.
For something entirely unique, the KIIROO Onyx Plus is still a great choice. But only if you’re of average size and girth, and have no trouble getting erect.
Ultimately though, the sensations didn’t do much for me, and it’s hard to recommend over the KIIROO Keon instead—especially given the recent addition of a dildo adaptor, too.
I give the KIIROO Onyx Plus a somewhat disappointing 6/10, but only because it pales in comparison to their other toys.
