I was delighted to be invited to review this dual motor vibrating butt plug, which offered me the chance to experience and enjoy the treble and bass vibrations first seen in the Hot Octopuss Jett Penis Masturbator, which my husband thoroughly enjoyed. Packaging
The Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex Dual Motor Vibrating Butt Plug comes in discreet and protective outer packaging for the post, while the product box itself is sleek, modern and recognisably Hot Octopuss.
There’s an image of the anal toy on the front, labelled diagram on the side and informative product information on the back.
What’s In The Box
The box is sealed with a small clear tab for newness/hygiene assurance. Once you open the box, you’ll find the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex Dual Motor Vibrating Butt Plug safely nested in a black moulded insert.
Along with the anal toy you’ll find the small remote control, USB charging lead, instruction/info leaflets and a branded, black satin drawstring storage pouch.

Measurements
I wouldn’t like the task of deciding upon measurements for an anal toy which is likely to please the majority of people. The size and style of toy chosen for anal stimulation seems (to me at least) to be more uniquely specific than, say, vaginal, clitoral or penis-based stimulation toys. I think the Hot Octopuss team have done a great job in this regard with Plex with Flex.
By my measurements, the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex Dual Motor Vibrating Butt Plug measures just over 5.5 inches in overall length (ie. including the base). The insertable length is 4 inches. The maximum circumference of the shaft, where it bulges out a little before the tip, measures 4 inches around. The narrowest part of the shaft is just before the base, where the body will have enveloped the rest of the length inside, which measures 2.25 inches.
First Impressions & Operation
It’s clear the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex combines elegance and technological sophistication from the moment you remove it from the box. The shaft of this luxurious anal toy is covered with smooth, seamless black silicone – the sex toy connoisseur’s material of choice due to being non-toxic, non-porous and totally body safe. The bottom of the silicone shaft proudly bears the Hot Octopuss logo on one side, with ‘treble & bass’ on the other. A shiny, gun-metal grey plastic rim keeps the base distinct from the base in a classy way, with the Hot Octopuss crown in the centre and a small, raised (ie. easy to find) power on/standby/pattern changer button on the side.
On the base of the Plex with Flex you’ll find the unit’s control hub. There are two power symbol buttons to turn on the treble or bass motors (you can switch them on independently, but have them both on at the same time if you like – a short press switches the motors on) and a + and – button to increase or lower the vibration intensity. There are 5 speeds.
There are also 5 patterns, you can scroll through these with the button on the side of the Plex with Flex.
Below the – button you’ll find the small charging port.
Plex with Flex is fully waterproof –although this refers to the main toy only, not the remote control.
Remote Control
As well as being able to operate the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex Dual Motor Vibrating Butt Plug via the control hub on the base, you can use the wireless remote control provided. This is a major bonus to selecting the Plex with Flex as your next anal toy. Not having to fiddle about with the toy which is inside of you at the time, trying to find buttons and remember which is which without seeing them, is such a relief.
The remote control is similar to the one worn in the wrist strap which comes with the Hot Octopuss Pulse Solo Lux https://carasutra.com/review/hot-octopuss-pulse-solo-lux-review/ , although the control buttons are slightly different.
It’s also quite a small remote, so I’ll have to make an extra effort not to lose it! Thankfully there’s a drawstring storage pouch so I can keep all the Plex with Flex gear together in the bedside drawer between uses.
While the Plex with Flex anal toy is rechargeable, the remote control with it is battery powered. It takes one of those big cell batteries which last for ages. Before first use you’ll need to remove the little plastic tab then you’re all set.
The controls on the remote are the same as on the toy itself; two power symbol buttons to turn on the treble or bass motors and + and – button to increase or lower the vibration intensity through the 5 speeds. It’s a short press to the buttons on the toy to switch the motors on, but press and hold for 2 seconds if you’re using the power buttons on the remote.
Plex with Flex will need to be in standby mode (press power button on the side of the toy for 2 seconds, wait for it to vibrate twice and you’re there) in order for the remote to be paired & therefore operate the butt plug. A green LED will blink on the bottom of the toy to let you know the plug is currently paired.
Charging Up
It’s easy to charge up the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex Dual Motor Vibrating Butt Plug, just use the included USB lead. One end goes into the port on the base of the toy, the other end into any USB port. I like to use the ones on the front of my PC while I’m in the office, or my multi USB to mains adaptor plug while in the bedroom.
These are SO handy and can be picked up easily from online stores (click to browse a selection: United Kingdom / USA).
While charging, an LED in the centre of the base glows red -this changes to emit a steady green glow once the Plex with Flex is fully charged. Charge for 4 hours before first use; the usual charging time is 2 hours. This will provide a maximum of 50 minutes playtime.
During Use
The first time I used my Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex, I didn’t last 5 minutes. I doubt I even made it to two minutes. I must confess a bit of ‘prep work’ with a clitoral vibrator, plus –of course- lubing up the Plex and my anal area before insertion. I had made sure I paired the remote with the plug before inserting it, the butt plug slid home, I carried on self-teasing with the clit vibe and (using the handy remote) whacked both motors in the Plex up to full, constant vibration. I hurtled into a clitoral and anal combo orgasm with shuddering gasps and full body squirming and arching in almost no time at all.
Since that first time (admittedly an impatient sprint to orgasm), I’ve enjoyed exploring the nuances of the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex Dual Motor Vibrating Butt Plug in more depth.
This isn’t an anal toy which only offers thrilling vibrations from two internal motors at a high, constant speed. Sure, that bit is absolutely fantastic –especially combined with the fact you can control the vibrations from the wireless remote, and the toy itself is fully waterproof so it’s easy to thoroughly clean straight after use. It’s also surprisingly quiet during use. But more than those blissfully simple, highly efficient features, the Plex with Flex can deliver a range of vibration speeds and patterns from either one of those motors within. And each of those motors provides a different type of vibration. Treble or bass. Or treble and bass, if you’re greedy like me.
The bass vibration provides a lusty growl of stimulation just inside your anal entrance. The treble vibrations are from the motor near the tip of the shaft, giving you your choice of teasing vibes all the way up to spine-tingling waves of pleasure deep inside you.
Having the option to customise the vibrating stimulation you experience during playtime sets the Hot Octopuss Plex with Flex firmly apart from other sex toys – and other anal plugs in particular. Dual motors with different types of vibration which can be controlled via a remote and offering different speeds and different patterns? You could enjoy a slightly different anal pleasure playtime, every time, for a long while to come. Or at least have an absolute blast experimenting, either alone or as part of couple’s foreplay and sex, until you decide upon the combination or setting which is your personal favourite.
Some small (teeny, tiny) improvements I would make to the Plex for me personally:
- A slightly larger remote control, as it’s quite titchy!
- If the remote could be waterproof as well as the plug it would make using in watery environments like the bath or shower less worrisome.
Summary
Usually, I’m put off by highly technological sex toys. I just want something which works. And works simply, without any faff or needing to pore over a thick manual for hours beforehand. If there’s any connectivity to remotes etc involved, I want that process to be simple too, and for the device to connect first time without any glitches. Buttons on the toy and/or remote need to be clearly marked, easy to understand and easy to find/operate. The toy itself should be rechargeable (if vibrating), made from a body-safe material -and a fully waterproof sex toy should be a given these days.
