DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil Review

By Miss Eve E

The always lovely Cara Sutra sent me the DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil to try out from the DONA by JO collection. Massage oil isn’t something I usually play around with so it’s been interesting testing this one out.

A note about the ingredients: the DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil does contain soybean, coconut, pistachio, and sweet almond oil, all quite common allergens. So please keep this in mind if you or your partner has sensitivities to chemicals, or allergens. I don’t know in the amount is enough to cause a reaction, but better safe than sorry.

Packaging

DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil ReviewThe packaging of the DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil gives an very elegant impression. The muted tones, and colour scheme screams opulence, and a quality product. I’m a sucker for good packaging. For me, the more refined the packaging is, the more likely I am to purchase it.

The bottle itself has got some give to it, so it’s relatively easy to squeeze, and the push down cap takes a moderate amount of pushing. I did also find I flick the cap down, open the bottle, and shake product out instead of squeezing. It wasn’t controlled, but it’s something to keep in mind if you have wrist problems.

Smell

The first thing that hits you when you remove the freshness seal is the smell. It is delicious. It smells like real chocolate mousse, and it smells good enough to eat. And then the smell keeps hitting you, and it goes from a pleasant experience to one of regret. If you have sensitivities to strong smells, this really isn’t the massage oil for you. The smell lingers once out of the bottle – to a ridiculous amount, and takes on an almost nauseating quality. I’ve found that I can playing with it, and then still smell it hours later if a drop is still on me, or something nearby.

Taste

Whilst it smells good enough to eat, the taste is another matter. The DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil tastes chemically, and unpleasant. In my opinion it’s not something you want to kiss or eat on purpose, and it seemed to linger in my mouth after I’d ingested it, leaving a coating on my tongue.

DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil ReviewTexture

It is massage oil, so it is incredibly oily. The oil has longevity, and didn’t seem to absorb into skin too quickly, but this meant it was rather hard to remove. It took a good few washes of my hands to get rid of the film that covered my skin post use.

One thing to keep in mind is that the oil can stain sheets, it even mentions it on the back of the bottle. I can also attest to this. I had oil on my hand whilst going to get more, and now I have quite the oily patch in my sheets.

In Use

In regards to the aphrodisiac and pheromone aspect of the DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil, I felt no different in comparison to when I use other oils. And, even if there were possible effects by ingesting it, I was a bit too overwhelmed by the strong taste of the oil to enjoy them.

Conclusion

Overall, I’d say if you like sweet treats, can stand strong smells, and want an oil that won’t need applying too often, then DONA Chocolate Mousse Kissable Massage Oil is the oil for you. Personally, I found the smell too overwhelming, and the taste lacking so it won’t be something I reach for often … if at all really.
