First Glance
Silicone lubes aren’t usually what my partners and I go for, since we tend to use silicone toys. However, since I and another one of my partners are very new to anal sex we were able to gently ease into it with the help of this Pjur Back Door Relaxing Silicone Anal Lube, using only fingers and a small metal plug.
Ingredients
The jojoba extract claims to have a relaxing effect, and a bit of research reveals that jojoba extract is a mild muscle relaxant. The lack of glycerin and parabens is a huge plus in my book, due to my concerns about yeast infections and allergic reactions. However, after researching the dimethicone on Environmental Working Group, I have some concerns about the safety of this ingredient. I have sensitive skin, and although the risks appear mild, I don’t think I would recommend using anything with this ingredient for people who are at risk for skin irritation or infections.
In Use
The packets are very small, so my partner and I were concerned at first that one per person may not be enough. However, this lube seems to go a pretty long way, so we found that it was more than sufficient. It’s a bit on the watery side, not the gel-like consistency that I had been expecting. Neither of us noticed a significant “relaxing” effect on our muscles, but we did have an easier time than usual working up to a few fingers and then the plug. I hate friction, so was pleased to find that this lube didn’t dry up over time, and we didn’t have to reapply. The lube feels pleasant on the skin, not sticky or irritating. Play was a very comfortable experience, without any pain or irritation from friction.
Final Thoughts
This is definitely a good lube; I like the consistency and it was very easy to insert fingers and the plug without any pain from friction. However, the “relaxing” effect feels a bit overhyped, as our muscles didn’t feel any different than usual with other anal lubes. Due to that and the fact that we don’t prefer silicone lubes, I can’t see myself switching from my preferred product, but did enjoy the experience with this one.
I’d rate this Pjur Back Door Relaxing Silicone Anal Lube a 7/10.
Again, thanks to Cara for allowing us to test out this sample!
