The We-Vibe Touch Vibrator looks like an unassuming, oddly-shaped, slightly pointy purple marshmallow. Not ugly, just different. This vibe didn’t initially catch my interest because it looked so small and squishy, but when a friend came (and came, and came…) back with a glowing recommendation about it, I decided to give it a try. My verdict? I’m in love.

When shopping for vibrators, the main features I want to know about are:
- The material- is it toxic or porous (i.e. contains phthalates)? Is it body-safe?
- The quality and type of vibrations- is it rumbly or buzzy? How many modes?
- The noise- I don’t live alone so is it suitable for my sex ninja collection (i.e. super quiet)?
After that, I still want to know about other aspects like how it can be used, the price, how to charge it (or replace the batteries), the cleaning and care/storage, a bit about the manufacturer, pros/cons, and overall opinion of the reviewer. This is the order I’ll cover the features of this vibe, so if you’re just skimming you now have an idea of where to find what you’re looking for.
Material
The newest version of the We-Vibe Touch Vibrator comes in a dark purple (sadly the only colour) with a matte silicone finish which is silky smooth to the touch and a bit squishy to the squeeze. It is made from 100% medical-grade silicone and is latex, BPA, and phthalate-free. This means that it is non-porous, non-toxic and body-safe.  It is also 100% waterproof so it’s not only safe for shower play but can be safely submerged in the bath. While the older version was notorious for attracting dust and lint, this one is relatively easy to keep clean. I don’t have any pets, mind you, but compared to my other silicone sex toys with a shiny finish, I have no problems keeping it out of dust’s way.
Quality and Style of Vibrations

In contrast to my cheap buzzy vibes of the past, the We-Vibe Touch Vibrator provides nice, strong, rumbly vibrations which are most focused around the middle of the scoop, near the tip. I’ve yet to experience this power with another clit vibe, although I hear the We Vibe Tango Bullet Vibrator also delivers quite a punch. They actually have the same motor (and are both manufactured by We-Vibe) but the Tango is made of hard ABS plastic as opposed to the silicone of the Touch; some people say the silicone slightly dampens the vibrations but I have no complaints about power.
Although I now know that I like strong and rumbly vibes, I was still very new to sex toys when I bought the Touch and didn’t want to buy something too strong (like the Hitachi) right out of the gate, afraid that I might numb my clit into submission. Although the Touch can be very powerful, the different vibration modes make it suitable not only for power queens but also for those who want to start off a bit more gently.
There are 8 vibration settings to choose from. The first four are steady vibrations that vary in intensity and the last four are pre-set patterns. To turn the We-Vibe Touch Vibrator on, as well as to cycle through the modes, simply press the button on the bottom, located between the metal charging stubs. Unfortunately, you can only cycle through them in one direction, so to get back to a previous setting you have to click through them all.
After you click through the 8 vibration modes, the 9th click turns the vibe off. Alternatively, you can turn off the Touch by pressing and holding the button for a few seconds. What’s great about this is that the next time you turn it on, it starts in the mode you left off at- perfect for those who use the same mode every time.
The Noise
Personally, I care a lot about how loud a sex toy is. I have roommates. Too many times I’ve researched a toy, find it is body-safe and decided it sounds like something I’d like, only to read about how noisy it is (i.e. the Fun Factory Miss Bi Vibrator). I’m happy to announce that the We-Vibe Touch Vibrator is not only quieter than my weaker, cheaper vibes, but that I’ve tossed it under the duvet, left the room and closed the door, and couldn’t hear it. Needless to say, it passes my sneaky sex ninja test. I wouldn’t go so far as to say it could be used in the same room as someone else without them hearing, although I applaud the bravery of anyone who’d be willing to try.
How It Can Be Used
The We-Vibe Touch Vibrator is an external vibrator, meaning that it is meant for clitoral stimulation. It shouldn’t be used internally and since it doesn’t have a flared base, isn’t suitable for anal penetration.  It has a nice, ergonomic shape that fits comfortably into the palm of the hand and the buttons for the controls is easy to find at the base. The tip allows for more pinpoint stimulation while the scoop can be pressed against your clit for a deeper rumbly feeling. There is some give to the tip which I like, as I tend to press harder unconsciously when I’m about to come and don’t want to accidentally bruise my vulva. Alternatively, the body of the Touch can be used for broader stimulation too. As I mentioned earlier, it is completely waterproof so it’s a lot of fun in the shower or bath. It’s also small enough for use during intercourse with a partner without getting in the way.
I like to position the vibe with the scoop pressed along my vulva, then progressively start to use the tip more for more pinpoint stimulation as I get aroused. I also like to use the Touch on the lowest setting when exercising my kegels by hooking the tip just inside my vaginal opening. Why? My kegels are fairly weak and I sometimes have trouble concentrating on the right muscles to flex; the vibrations help me with providing sensation to the area (although I make sure to never insert it more than 1-2 cm). I’ve also used the We-Vibe Touch Vibrator as an actual body massager and to help with menstrual cramps by holding it against my lower abdominals until the Advil kicks in. I find it helps to reduce cramp pain by bringing blood flow to the area (cramps are often caused by ischemia, which is a lack of oxygen getting to the muscles and results in pain).
Price
The We-Vibe Touch Vibrator retails at around $100, which is a bit pricey for strictly a clitoral vibe without going into the luxury range. Although it’s tempting to go for a cheaper option, I find most cheap vibrators are buzzy, loud, and battery-powered. For me, the investment in the higher quality Touch is worth every penny.
Charging Up
The We-Vibe Touch Vibrator is a rechargeable sex toy and comes with a white USB-compatible cord so you can charge your toy with your computer or laptop. For those who want a wall charger, there are options available but you have to buy it separately. For me, the charging base is one of the only negatives I can think of about this product. It is a square magnetic base which connects to the charging stubs on the bottom of the We-Vibe Touch. Apparently the newer version is much improved over the old one, however I still think they could improve the connectivity because sometimes I accidentally nudge my toy and break the connection.
You need to charge your vibe for at least 90 minutes before the first use. I was able to turn mine on when I first took it out of the package but it’s still recommended to charge it before using it. It’s supposed to last about 2 hours between charges. I’ve never used it 2 hours straight but it’s gotten me through all my sessions just fine and can use it at least twice before charging again. I don’t use it on the highest setting but a friend of mine does and has to charge it after each use. There’s also a low battery indicator light that goes off, letting you know/reminding you that you need to charge it.
Cleaning & Care/Storage
Simply using antibacterial soap and warm water is fine for cleaning the We-Vibe Touch Vibrator between uses. It can be sanitized (and should be before first use and especially if it is being shared between people) by rinsing it with 1:10 bleach solution. Since it is a silicone toy you should only use it with water-based lube as silicone lube can ruin it BUT I’ve spot tested the base then used Sliquid Silk (mostly water-based with 12% silicone) and it’s worked just fine. The Touch also comes with a white satin storage pouch that is large enough to hold the Touch and the charging cable.

Overall Impression
Would I recommend this vibe? Yes, hands down. I was sceptical at first by the look of it but I absolutely love it. With the tip for pinpoint stimulation or the body for broader coverage, the slight give of the silicone with the firmer core, the ergonomic shape and easy controls… it’s a great all-round vibe.
Although it’s getting up into the higher end of mid-price clitoral vibrators, it’s quite reasonable for a high quality product and I’d be willing to buy another We-Vibe Touch Vibrator should anything happen to my purple pointy marshmallow. If you’re just starting to look or looking for something new, this is the #1 clitoral vibrator I’d recommend.
