I absolutely love a powerful bullet vibrator. That’s why when asked by the We-Vibe team whether I’d like to review the Salsa vibrator, I was so excited. I’d heard about these vibrators on the reviewing community grapevine, and I can’t say I’ve seen or heard about a negative review yet. Somewhat unbelievably, the day before the We-Vibe rep handed me this Salsa bullet at Eroticon 2014, I was in Hella Rude’s house where she was extolling the many virtues of this bullet vibe, which was plugged in charging by the bedside. Don’t ask what I was doing in her bedroom, while she was in her underwear. Ok you can – but that’s a topic for another post, on another day.

You can tell a lot from a sex toy based on where it’s permanent position is in someone’s home. Put back in the box? No good at all. At the bottom of the wardrobe? A sometimes toy. Under the bed or in the bedside drawer? Getting warmer. On the floor by the bed, possibly still unwashed from the last hurried use? Bingo.
Unfortunately, my own adventures with the We-Vibe Salsa were short lived, as it had a fault meaning sometimes it wouldn’t switch on, no matter how charged up it was. I contacted the We-Vibe rep who was extremely apologetic about this and offered me the chance to upgrade to the brand new We-Vibe Tango Bullet Vibrator.
An upgrade to the ‘new and improved’ always sounds good to me. In a couple of days the newer version was on my doorstep, just as professionally and discreetly wrapped as the Salsa, and I eagerly unwrapped the package. Not only had my We-Vibe rep sent the new We-Vibe Tango, he had also included the new We-Vibe Touch.
The We-Vibe Tango is available in Blue or Pink and is priced from £54.95 in the UK.
Packaging
The We-Vibe Tango is packaged in a slightly different box to the older Salsa bullet. Instead of a trapezoid box like the Salsa, the Tango comes in the more practical (for packaging, transit and storage purposes, at least from a company pov) rectangular shape. The lidded box clearly shows what is to be found within, and has the We-Vibe logo proudly marked on the front along with the product name and image.
Opening the box I quickly found the blue Tango bullet vibe (I’d had a black Salsa bullet). It’s safely sat within a firm foam-feel insert designed for this purpose.
What you get in the box
- Along with the Tango bullet vibrator, I also received:
- A generously sized white satin drawstring storage pouch
- A multilingual instruction booklet (which covers both the Touch and the Tango)
- Product registration card
- USB charging lead and magnetic connector
Measurements
The We-Vibe Tango bullet vibrator measures 3.5 inches in overall length, from base to tip. Unlike the Salsa bullet, the Tango isn’t tapered all the way round at the tip, it’s more like a lipstick with a flat fascia to one side giving you more versatility in use and sensation.
It’s 2.1 inches in circumference.
Bonus features
It’s great that you get a storage pouch with the We-Vibe Tango as it gives you the added reassurance that you’ve invested in a quality product, from a caring company who goes the extra inch. The Tango bullet isn’t even silicone (it’s body safe PC-ABS thermoplastic) so the storage pouch really is a kind addition rather than an absolute necessity. It does stop the bullet being knocked against other toys and items in your toy box or drawer. You could even keep the original lidded box (I have done this) to keep everything together, booklet, charging lead and all.
The We-Vibe Tango is 100% waterproof meaning you can take the fun to the bath or shower, as well as completely submerge it for hassle-free and completely hygienic cleaning between uses. Tango is a rechargeable sex toy so you don’t have the worry of running out of batteries.
As the body of the Tango is plastic you can use any sexual lubricant with it, whether waterbased, silicone, hybrid or other.
Powering up
You need to charge up the We-Vibe Tango before you can enjoy some lotion and motion. The USB lead is easy to use, simply insert into any USB port and put the other end into the magnetic connector provided. This has two metal nodules which magnetically attach to the two corresponding metal nodes on the base of the We-Vibe Tango. There is a yellow LED on the charging lead which lights up when it’s charging. The light turns off when the toy is fully charged.
Although the method of charging up the We-Vibe Tango is very modern and slick, when it comes to actually using the charging lead I found a small issue with keeping the connector on the bullet vibe base in the right place. You need to set the magnetic nodes to each other while the bullet is placed down somewhere safe, where it won’t roll or move, then back away slowly. Knocking the bullet at all can cause the nodes to become misaligned and therefore charging doesn’t then occur.
With many of my rechargeable sex toys I can charge them up and use them a few times before I need to charge them again. With the We-Vibe Tango I need to charge it up between each use. maybe I’m just using and loving it so much that I don’t realise time slipping away from me. Whatever the case may be, the booklet states that a 90 minute charge will give up to 2 hours of playtime. I found that I needed to charge it up all night and then I get about an hour of playtime… and I need to charge it up overnight between uses. So it’s one to keep by the bed for more than one reason.
Functions and settings
You power up the We-Vibe Tango by pressing the button on the base. I was glad of my long nails, as pressing it with the flat of my finger pad means I am also pressing against the metal nodes on the bottom, which isn’t great. However when I use my nail to press the button it’s much more effective.
Pressing once will turn the Tango on to the first setting. You can scroll through the settings to find the off button, or press and hold for off. Note than pressing and holding for off will cause the Tango to restart from the same mode you did this from, upon start up. To start from the first setting you need to scroll through to the off setting then press on again.
The settings are:
- Constant vibration, lowest
- Constant medium vibration
- Constant high vibration
- Constant highest vibration
- Pulse vibration
- Wave/oscillating vibration
- fast pulse
- Dash dash dot dot dot pulse
Then, off.
How it feels (to me) during use
Although the We-Vibe Tango has the same motor as the We-Vibe Touch, it feels remarkably more powerful. It’s definitely a ‘get me off in under two minutes’ bullet vibrator – although it feels so good I always spend longer with it as I want to ‘go’ again!
Unlike the much cheaper (yet still sometimes very powerful) bullet vibrators, We-Vibe have achieved something else remarkable with the Tango. It’s extraordinarily quiet. There’s no rattle of an angry-wasp-like motor in a cheap plastic casing. It really is ‘whisper quiet’! For such a powerful bullet vibe to be this quiet makes it worth the money even without all the added extras.
I don’t really know how else to say this, so here we go: THIS IS A BLOODY POWERFUL VIBRATOR.
If you’re a power queen, like me, you’ll love the We-Vibe Tango. It caresses my clit with an almost silent jack-hammering. A jack hammering which has me muting my squeals in my pillow or easing orgasmic cries into whimpers as I press it between my legs during a quickie climax stood in the bathroom – or even a guilty-but-so-good release sat at my desk.
Summary
The We-Vibe Tango bullet vibrator has been indelibly added to my list of ‘sex toys I’d actually buy‘. It’s earned its place next to my Doxy Wand and iGino One as a sex toy I regularly use, keep charged up and ready to thrill wherever I travel.
The powder blue colour is attractive, different and fresh feeling, while the lipstick shape tip gives me the choice of flat vibe against my clit or the precise yet still comfortable edge. As it’s a bullet vibrator you can use it for other stimulation than just clitoral stimulation to orgasm each time. It can add a powerful sensation used over nipples, inner thighs, labia, or his shaft, balls and perineum, or anywhere over the erogenous zones during couples massage and foreplay. Like you, I adore the Tango for most of the reasons you have mentioned. I find it lasts me about half an hour to 45 minutes on the highest constant setting, up to an hour if I’m lucky.
I was just wondering if you have had any faults with the Tango itself. My first one developed a fault where it would not turn on or it would, but it would cut out straight away and it sometimes sounded like there was something inside it rattling or tapping. I returned it to LoveHoney, which I use because their returns policy is awesome. But now my new one has developed the same fault. I will return it for a replacement again (and again and again if necessary, as I love it so much) but it is very frustrating.
