That’s why, when I heard that We Vibe were designing and making penetrative vaginal vibrators, my curiosity (and other parts) became aroused. What would the We-Vibe Rave G-Spot Vibrator and We-Vibe Nova Vibrator look like? Would they be as fabulously powerful as We-Vibe’s other foray into vulval stimulation, the We Vibe Tango bullet vibrator / clit stim?

The We-Vibe Rave Vibrator looks like your classic penetrative vaginal vibe, with an angled tip for g spot exploration and stimulation. The We Vibe Nova is a dual stim vaginal vibrator – yep, a We-Vibe rabbit vibrator.
Packaging
All my We-Vibe sex toys sent directly from We-Vibe consistently arrive in safe and discreet outer packaging, and the toys themselves come in a high quality, sturdy lidded box with images of the product and details about the toy on the outside. The box is so sturdy it can almost double as hard-case storage, although a storage pouch is also provided inside.
What You Get
The We-Vibe Rave Vibrator, USB charging lead, satin drawstring storage pouch (white) and an instruction booklet. Lube would have been a nice addition but no dice this time (not with my Rave, in any case).
First Impressions
Good, solid feeling vibrator, the outer of which is a smooth and velvety soft silicone material. The We Vibe logo is embossed in silicone on the side of the bottom end. Embossed raised markings to denote where the power and function buttons are. The insertable end, the head, is not typically rounded and angled but instead has an unusual shape, round yet angular. I assume We Vibe have researched the best shape for optimal G-Spot stimulation and this is the result. I like the look of it and the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator feels both comfortable and sexy in my hands.
The We-Vibe Rave measures 7.5 inches in length as the vibrator-measuring-crow flies, 9 inches length measuring along the outside of the curve, tip to tail, and has a maximum circumference of 4.25 inches around the insertable tip. I can insert it up to about 4.5 inches. All these measurements are my own.
Charging Up
Charging up the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator is simple, just plug the USB charging lead into a USB port (desktop, laptop, USB to mains plug by the bed) and the other end is plugged into the jackpin port for it on the front of the vibrator, above the control area. A slow blinking LED lets you know it’s charging correctly.
By the way, the page at We Vibe states the Rave charges through magnetic connection – it doesn’t, that’s the We-Vibe Nova. The We-Vibe Rave definitely charges via jackpin through the port on the front, and the other end through a USB port.
How To Operate
You press the middle button of the control area to turn on. Press repeatedly to scroll through different vibrating patterns, wave, pulse etc. Press the up and down buttons to increase or decrease vibration intensity. There’s 10 pre-installed vibration settings:
You can also connect to the smartphone app (same tech as seen in the We Vibe 4+ and We Vibe Classic), which gives you the opportunity to enjoy an even more customised ride to orgasm.
Connecting to the We Connect App
I’d noticed the We Connect app (We-Vibe’s smartphone app) updating a few times recently and it must be so that the new Rave and Nova vibrators can be synced to the app and controlled by it. When I went into the We Connect app the instructions for pairing a new We Vibe vibrator were simple; I selected the correct part of the main menu, pressed and held the control button on the Rave until the vibrator pulsed twice, then pressed the button to find the vibrator on the app. The vibe did a little happy dance when it successfully paired up, then I could use the app to control the vibrations.
There’s all kinds of different vibration options available through the app, so if you’re all about the custom vibrations and sex play technology you’ll love it. There’s a screen for your constant vibration, and just slide your finger up or down the screen to increase or decrease speed/strength for each motor (there’s two in the vibrator). There’s also a selection of pattern screens which work in the same way, pulse, wave, echo, tide, crest, bounce, surf, peak and cha cha cha.

You can also create a custom playlist, connect to a lover across the world (get them to send a connect message then play together), and enjoy a truly modern vibrator with an easy to use app interface and the most up to date sex toy technology.
My Review
Although the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator is fairly powerful, I’m very much a power queen and this is no Doxy Massager. But then, what other sex toy is? It’s also unlikely that people who are shopping for a G-Spot stimulating sex toy would be solely about the vibration strength. The We-Vibe Rave is definitely an alluring shape, and colour, and the material feels fantastic to me as well. When I insert it into my vagina, with the help of some water based lubricant, it feels delicious. The shape of the head, the unique asymmetrical design and the generous size, fills me and I really know I’m fucking myself with a sex toy designed to stimulate the vagina not only with vibrations but with its shape.
The angle of the Rave vibrator means that the head is rubbing against my G-spot during use, and even without the vibrations turned on this could be a great G-spot stimulating ‘dildo’ for the right person.
As for me, it’s a very rare day that I masturbate in order to stimulate my G-spot, as it’s not the usual or easiest way I orgasm. In fact it takes a combination of G-spot stim, internal vibration and clitoral stimulation in order to trigger a G-spot orgasm for me. As you can see by the design of the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator, that wasn’t going to happen for me here (no external stim if using it as intended, internally).
That’s not to say it’s a write-off for me; the vibrations on the mid to high levels (constant vibrations, I’m not really a patterns and pulses fan) are strong enough to give me a very satisfying orgasm when I use the We-Vibe Rave vibrator externally, on my clitoris and surrounding area. I’m just a clit stim kinda girl, and tend to naturally explore G-Spot vibrators in a clitoral way because that’s how I know I’ll orgasm easiest and most satisfyingly.
I tend not to use the We Connect app with the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator – or really that much with any of the We Vibe vibrators which can connect to the SmartPhone app. Not because there’s anything wrong with it – quite the contrary, it’s well made, welcoming, easy to use and I’m sure a tech & sex toy fan would love it. I guess I’m more of an old skool type and use the buttons on the vibrator itself to reach my O; it’s taken me long enough to get used to wireless remote controls! I know, such a luddite. It’s amazing I’m on the internet at all really.
There’s another reason I don’t use the app too much – the We-Vibe Rave (and We Vibe Nova Vibrator) require me to hold the vibrator in place inside me (or for clit stim) throughout use. Unlike the We Vibe couples vibrators, which are held in place during use by the two lovers’ bodies together in sex (and the fact there’s four hands flying about not just two), the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator and Nova will wiggle out during use if you try to use them hands-free (unless you concentrate really hard with your pelvic floor muscles/have a vice-like vagina, sadly I don’t). That means I have the choice of trying to get my phone and into the app and use the app with one hand while the other hand keeps the vibrator in place, risking dropping the phone on the floor (or on my face… not that I’ve ever done that, who does that? Definitely not me…) or just using the buttons on the vibrator itself. I found myself taking the easy route and going with the pre-installed vibration modes. Lazy? Probably – but who isn’t when they’re masturbating. I just want my pleasure/orgasm. Kthxbai.
So the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator feels good inside, but doesn’t lead to a G-spot orgasm for me. The vibrations are powerful, powerful enough to give me a clitoral orgasm, but not Doxy Wand powerful. Definitely towards the more powerful end of internal use vibrators, and a rumbly vibration (purr), definitely not an angry wasp shrill buzz.
A disappointing element of the We-Vibe Rave vibrator (aside from the fact it doesn’t give me a G-spot orgasm, which really isn’t the vibrator’s fault. It’s not you, We Vibe, it’s me) is that it’s not fully waterproof (this one’s definitely you). It’s a little like buying the most beautiful pair of shoes – absolutely gorgeous, I’m talking designer heels – and finding the soles are made out of newspaper.
I’m guessing/hoping that We Vibe would have made the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator waterproof if they could, but as it stands it’s a cutting edge technological G-spot pleasuring powerfully vibrating silicone wonder – that you can’t use in the bath. It’s noted as splashproof, not waterproof – so it’s not fully submersible. This is such a shame.
That’s not to say I write-off all non-waterproof vibrators, in fact my top two favourite vibrators (Doxy Massager and the iGino One) aren’t waterproof at all. But for an insertable, silicone, rechargeable vibrator to not be fully waterproof in 2016? When it has the technology to be controlled and custom playlists made through its very own app? I can’t think of any good excuse.
If you’re a G-Spot stimulation fan, need deep and rumbling vibrations along with your probing stim and a well-researched vibrator shape for the optimum G-Spot pleasure, the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator might be a good choice for you. This is especially true if you’re not a fan of taking your sex toys into the bath or shower to have a play, and you’re happy to spritz it clean after use with some antibacterial sex toy cleaner and a careful wipe down with a clean cloth.
You’ll have to pay out just under £90 for the We-Vibe Rave Vibrator, so if you need clitoral stimulation in order to reach orgasm – or simply can’t abide non-waterproof sex toys – then you might be better off with the We-Vibe Touch or We-Vibe Tango Bullet Vibrator.
The We-Vibe Rave Vibrator? I’m not raving about it personally, but it’s not all bad.
