Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator Review

As well as the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator, I received a few other Tantus sex toys – and three attachments for the Tantus Rumble. You can read about the Tantus Rumble Attachments in this separate review feature. I’m going to focus on the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator in this review.
If I had to pick one style of sex toy which I love over all others, it would have to be the wand vibrator. Not just any wand, though; it needs to have a depth and strength of vibration to tip my ‘buzz veteran’ clit over the edge, which is where the Doxy wins hands-down. Especially when I use my hands-free Doxy harness. Rechargeable wireless styles have brought me to orgasm in the past, whereas battery powered styles tend to fail spectacularly. It’s the mains powered wand vibrators (plug in wand vibrators) which have usually brought me to orgasm quickest and with the least effort; firstly the Hitachi which was then superseded by the Doxy Massager.
The Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator is a rechargeable & wireless wand vibrator. What I found especially interesting was the lightweight aspect of it – the Doxy Massager is admittedly heavy whereas the Tantus Rumble feels fairly hollow inside and also feels like the handle is made from aluminium (although I can’t find any details on that on the box or online). Doxy is also loud – would the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator be any quieter? Would a lower noise output also mean less power output, though? Then there’s the allure of the name… Tantus Rumble. Would that be a deep, growling rumble of vibration? The type of rumbly vibe that my clitoris lusts after to climax with ease?
First Impressions & Packaging
The packaging of the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator is easily recognisable as from the Tantus range, and it’s as sleek and professional as you’d expect from such an internationally renowned sex toy manufacturer. The outer box was also shrink wrapped for additional hygiene reassurance. Inside, I found the Tantus Rumble along with a small instruction manual and the USB charging lead. I could charge the Tantus Rumble from a port on my desktop or laptop but I tend to prefer using my USB to mains adaptor (I use a multi-port one by Portapow from Amazon) by the bed when charging up my sex toys.
Charging Up
White LEDs slowly blink behind the controls on the handle of the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator while it’s charging up. As usual with new rechargeable toys I left the vibrator charging overnight before first use.
Operation & Vibration Modes
The handle has three visibly marked areas: the power button to turn it on and off and + and – buttons to raise and lower vibration intensity and also to discover the vibration pattern modes.
I don’t really bother with or get off to vibration patterns, preferring to whack the vibration intensity up to max – but in case you’re interested, the vibrations/patterns are as follows:
- Low constant vibration
- Medium constant vibration
- High constant vibration
- Dot-dot-dot-dash pulse
- Dot-dash pulse
- Repeated ascending vibration
- Seemingly random pulsating mode, it is actually going through all the modes in turn
The buttons light up while the Tantus Rumble is in use. This is great when you’re looking at the handle but I am not looking at it when it’s between my legs so this is more of a novelty bonus. Something I found quite irritating about the control panel is that it’s totally flat. There’s no way of knowing which is the ‘modes’ end and which is the ‘power’ end when it’s between my legs. Similarly, I can’t tell the difference between the + and – buttons during use. It’s annoying to have to raise it and have a look each time I want to change the mode or when I’m accidentally turned the thing off instead of raising the power.
Measurements
The Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator measures approximately 8.5 inches in overall length, and the head has an approximate circumference of 7.75 inches.
On my kitchen scales the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator weighs just 192g.
The Tantus Rumble during use
I wanted to get the feel of the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator on its own, first time – no attachments. I also used it without any lube, as I never need to use any with my Doxy Massager. I find the smooth surface of the head is comfortable enough and pretty soon I produce natural lubrication. I lay back, turned on the Tantus Rumble, placed it around my clitoral area, and… nothing much happened. No seeing stars or hearing angels. Hmm. I pressed the + to go up to medium vibration strength, and then again to the maximum power of constant speed. It just wasn’t enough for me. I tried for a good while, longer than I usually ever would with a vibrator if no orgasm was, er, forthcoming.
Perhaps I would need lube after all.
Adding some water based lube didn’t help matters either.
Perhaps I just wasn’t in the mood – after all, when I was first testing the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator out I was in a very stressful headspace. It can have that effect on the libido and ability to orgasm. My Doxy Massager and other bedside drawer favourites were still effective on me though. Ok, so maybe I just had to learn to orgasm with the Tantus Rumble. It’s a different shape, a different vibration…
But no. It’s been a couple of months now, and I’m in a much happier headspace, much calmer and relaxed. The Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator still can’t make me get even close to orgasm.
Clean Up
The good news is that the head of the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator is really easy to remove, and as it’s silicone you can clean it thoroughly in warm soapy water and your choice of anti-bac spray. You also remove the standard head which comes with the Tantus Rumble in order to fit any of the attachments which are available separately. Don’t submerge the handle part in liquids as this area is not waterproof.
Summary
I SO wanted to love the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator but I’m afraid, without any orgasms from it, I just can’t. It’s a gorgeous looking, lightweight, rechargeable ornament currently taking up space in my bedside drawer and doing not much else. I never want to reach for it for masturbation because who wants to struggle for over 20 minutes with a sex toy to reach anything resembling those first orgasmic tendrils, only for it to repeatedly fail? I end up giving up and reaching for my trusted faves. The instruction leaflet warns not to use the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator continuously for over 20 minutes in any case… by which point I’m pretty much out of the mood and ready to lob it through an open window. On top constant speed the vibrations also travel through the handle giving me the white-finger sensation in my hand.
Oh, and if you’re wondering if the attachments for the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator made any difference? Spoiler: nope. Not one of them enabled me to achieve orgasm with the Rumble. Sure, they feel nice. Tickly, gently, soothing, nice. I don’t want the Tantus Rumble to make me feel nice though. My fingers feel nice and they’re free. My bedsheets between my legs feel nice. I want a sex toy to make me cum so hard I can’t see straight for a good ten minutes afterwards.
The usual applies here: your mileage may vary. You might be incredibly sensitive or new to vibrators. You could love the Tantus Rumble Wand Vibrator, I can’t say it’d be crap for everyone. All I can report is how I feel based on my experiences. And my experiences were consistently disappointing. No orgasms from the Tantus Rumble for me, and if I’d bought it I’d be asking for a refund.
3/10 for a nice design, removable head, rechargeable power and being lightweight.
