Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant Review

By JustJess

I’ve always been very wary of anal relaxants and lubes with numbing effects, worried that these might damped the sensations for myself or my partner or worse that we might cause damage to one another without being fully aware of it. I had actually been joking with Cara on Twitter about these types of lubes the night the Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant samples were offered for review to the Pleasure Panel.

Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant Review

Jojoba is a natural muscle relaxant and has anti-inflammatory properties unlike many desensitising lubes which actually contain mild anaesthetics which not only numb your bum but also fingers, lips, tongues and cocks that come into contact with it.

I was curious to see if a natural ingredient like jojoba could relax my muscles for anal sex without desensitising me or numbing my OH’s cock so I volunteered to test some in exchange for my honest review.

Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant Review

The Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant is both glycerin and paraben free which is common in silicone lubes as they don’t need these to preserve unlike most water based lubes. This is definitely an advantage for me as I am quite susceptible to UTI’s so try to avoid these ingredients in all of my lubes in case of transfer and so I can grab any bottle in the heat of the moment without worrying about adverse reactions.

I normally use a silky water based lube for anal sex and pegging my OH as we find this offers more cushioning than traditional water-based lubes and it doesn’t tend to dry out as quickly.

Silicone lubes don’t have that issue as they aren’t absorbed and don’t evaporate so less is generally needed. We found this to be true of Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant, we didn’t need to reapply it at any point because the oily, silky texture remained but as the texture was so different to our normal lubes we we worried there wasn’t quite enough on so during pegging we added a small dollop of water based too (more on that later).

Silicone lubes can stain clothing and bed sheets as it’s much oilier in texture than the water based lubes I normally use so I did throw down an old sheet when we used Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant for the first time; this wasn’t actually needed though as the tester sachets are quite small so there wasn’t any transfer other than from our hands which we wiped immediately to avoid any damage to our bedding.

Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant Review

Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant is suitable for use with condoms but you need to be careful with silicone sex toys as the two can react damaging your toys. As we wanted to try this lube out for pegging we used a condom over our silicone dildo after checking the pjur instructions to ensure the lube was condom safe.

In use I really didn’t enjoy the decreased sensations and perversely I think I was less relaxed than normal. When warming me up a minute or so after applying the lube, he managed to get three fingers in without me realising, it just felt like the normal one or two. During anal I definitely couldn’t feel him as much inside me which is a huge negative for me as I love the stretch and “naughty” sensations of anal.

My OH said I felt much tighter than normal which made me think my muscles were desensitised rather than truly relaxed and this made me tense up more. I was then scared of being too rough and lost all enjoyment in what we were doing so made him stop! Whether this was just psychological or not, it was a huge mood killer.

Luckily the OH was still happy to use our second sachet during pegging as his experience is the complete opposite to mine.

The 1.5ml in the sachet didn’t feel enough for him as he likes quite a lot of lube for anal play so we had to add a drop of our water based lube, this obviously wouldn’t be an issue if you had a full sized bottle.

Pjur Back Door Anal Glide Lube Review

Before moving on to toys I tested his sensitivity levels with my fingers and nails to see how numb he was. We were able to go straight to pegging after warming up with fingers rather than using a plug or other toys first.

He found that entry was a lot more relaxed and the stretching sensations were much less intense so I could go harder and be rougher than normal which he found more pleasurable; experiencing his first ever P spot orgasm from pegging.

If you are new to anal sex or pegging I would not recommend using this Pjur Back Door Silicone Anal Lubricant or any relaxing lube until you and your partner are used to the sensations and know each others bodies well enough to make sure you do not cause yourselves any damage; it’s very easy to cause injuries like muscular strains and skin tears even if you’re experienced with anal so adding a desensitising product which can also numb warning signs of strains is still a huge no for me.

I’d happily use Pjur silicone lubes again for anal but without any numbing properties.
