Lovehoney Silencer 2 Vibrator Review

I had been eyeing this classic vibrator for a while now, but have always been intimidated by the sheer size of this thing – I’ve been more of a bullet girl, and haven’t played much with the larger variety! The many glowing reviews and the temptation to own it finally overcame my inhibitions and I ordered the Lovehoney Silencer 2 Vibrator in from Lovehoney.

The Lovehoney Silencer 2 Vibrator runs on 2xC batteries which are not included, so be sure to pick some up! They’re easy to find and relatively cheap as well. It’s 4.75 inches in circumference, so quite a good-sized girth and is 8 inches in length including the twist base which acts as the speed dial. It is made from rigid, smooth coated plastic, so it’s body safe and can be safely cleaned. This vibrator is also waterproof, perfect for a little fun in the tub.
First impressions
The Lovehoney Silencer 2 Vibrator arrived in a simple white box, nothing too fancy, as per classic Lovehoney packaging. Basic instructions are included for inserting batteries and using the twist base, but this is really a toy that explains itself. The vibrator itself is a pleasant light pink colour with a wavy, rippled shape for increased stimulation and smooth rounded top. The smooth coating meant that the plastic felt somewhat soft to the touch, as opposed to regular hard plastic. I have to admit, seeing its girth in person made me somewhat nervous, but I was down to give it a go!
Using the toy
I popped the batteries into the shaft, screwed it back on nice and tight, turned the twist base, and it began rumbling away in my hand. At the very lowest setting, I placed it on my table top and if I was not holding on to it, it would have jumped right off the table! Usually a good sign when vibrators try to do that.
Using it on myself, I went for external stimulation first with some water-based lube and started at the lowest setting, gradually working my way up. For clitoral stimulation, the length, circumference and ribs made it easy to hold on to with wet fingers, and although the vibrations were strong, my hand did not feel numb. I was initially slightly concerned that I might unscrew the battery compartment while using the twist base, but am happy to report that it has not happened in the various times I’ve used it. For more pinpoint stimulation (since it is so wide), it can be held such that the rounded tip rests over the clitoral area, although holding it that way while lying down gets a little awkward and tiring.
I tried using it for internal stimulation and found that no matter what I did, it was still too girthy for me to get it all the way in. However, it did provide a nice stretch at the opening and I could feel the vibrations travel – it felt good even when used like that! It’s a shame that I have not managed to try out the feeling of the ribs as I have a feeling it would be delightful.
Lovehoney calls the Lovehoney Silencer 2 Vibrator extra quiet, but I have definitely used quieter toys. Having said that, it is still fairly silent, understandably getting louder at faster speeds. Even then, I could barely hear it from outside the room with the doors closed. At no point did I hear the batteries rattle on the inside. I would confidently use this in a shared flat under the duvet or with some background music on, but certainly not if I shared a room. The vibrations themselves were quite powerful all the way through and were a lovely deep rumble at the lower settings. At the very highest speed it became buzzy, but the twist base meant that I could easily turn it back down if I was going numb. I personally also found it useful to play with the lower settings since they are strong enough for me, and only crank it all the way up when I am ready to end.
Summary
The Lovehoney Silencer 2 Vibrator was a lovely classic vibrator that is definitely value-for-money. I liked the rumbly vibrations at the lower settings and it satiates my need for power. Only issue I have with it is the way it’s so buzzy at the highest speed (which also produces a higher pitch sound). Other than it, this vibrator is pretty good for playing around with – just bear in mind that it is quite large!
