O-Wand Vibrator Review: How Does It Compare To The Doxy Massager?

If you know anything about my sex toy preferences then you’ll know I absolutely love my Doxy Wand vibrator. It’s loud, sure; it’s also incredibly powerful and does the job every time no matter what.  When O-Wand got in touch to ask whether I’d like to review their new O-Wand Vibrator I was intrigued but cynical. Could this new wand vibrator really knock my beloved Doxy Wand off the top spot in my bedside drawer?

O-Wand Vibrator Review Doxy Massager Comparison

Packaging

The O-Wand Vibrator arrived quickly, wrapped up safely and discreetly. I was stunned by the size of its box – it’s absolutely enormous! Not that I’m a packaging size Queen, but I kinda like that. The large box – which, by the way, is lavish, decadently dark and perfect to wow someone as a gift – helps create the impression that you own something desirable, valuable and exciting.

The magnetic hinge-lid O-Wand Vibrator box is surrounded by a matte card sleeve on which the O-Wand Vibrator image is glossy and bevelled to make it really pop.

What You Get In The Box

Lifting the magnetic close lid of the O-Wand Vibrator box with a sizeable amount of excitement, I was greeted by a very tidy arrangement of the contents. The O-Wand logo is the first thing you see in the main compartment, on a piece of card covering the toy, and its instruction booklet has its own pocket in the lid.

There’s a black box containing the recharging cable, which has a jackpin for the base of the O-Wand Vibrator and the other end is an adaptable mains powered plug. Various attachments are provided so you can fit the correct one for your country’s socket style.

The O-Wand Vibrator itself is set into a gold coloured card insert and I was delighted to discover the nobbly/nubby O-Burst attachment comes included. I don’t get the chance to try wand vibrator attachments very often. I’ve had the chance to review some jelly types but I’d rather not use such a potentially dangerous sex toy material. The O-Burst attachment, like the O-Wand Vibrator itself, is made with body-safe silicone. Win.

First Impressions

Perhaps it’s because the Doxy Wand is so firmly cemented in my mind as the ruler of the wand vibrators, but I was surprised at the size of the O-Wand Vibrator. I don’t know the real reason why; it’s not overly large as full size wand vibrators go. Standard size of about a foot in length. I guess I was half-expecting it to be original Palm Power wand sized… a mini wand.

It’s definitely not a mini wand.

The colour appeals to me – I mean black goes with everything, right? It’s the new black, apparently. Maybe there’ll be a few die hard Fluffy Pink Stuff fans who would prefer their O-Wand Vibrator in a selection of rainbow colours, but for me black is spot on. It’s elegant, gender neutral and can easily fit into a variety of stimulation environments without any clashing going on. Solo stimulation, shared romantic liaisons or forced orgasms in a BDSM setting: a black wand vibrator fits the bill each time.

One thing which did irk me slightly was that the O-Wand Vibrator handle looks so similar to the LELO Insignia range of vibes, with the finger loop space lined with gold coloured ABS plastic. I mean it looks lovely and everything but I’d advise against making anything resembling LELO products, for several reasons.

The style of the handle doesn’t affect the use of the vibrator, and it’s not so much of an annoyance that it causes me to mark the toy down for it. It was simply part of my first impressions on seeing the O-Wand Vibrator for the first time.

How To Charge It Up

As mentioned above, the O-Wand Vibrator is a rechargeable sex toy. That’s right, you are not connected to the mains power while you’re playing – not even with the lengthy lead Doxy Wand offers. Charge it up then play with your cordless wand vibrator as you wish.

It was difficult to see where to insert the jackpin of the charging lead at first. When the O-Wand Vibrator arrived it didn’t have any charge, so I had to figure it out – and quickly. I was dying to know whether this new wand vibrator was going to be a win or fail. After a good look in some decent light, I spotted a slight indent & lightning symbol at the bottom of the handle. It’s one of those toys coated in silicone where you need to push the jackpin through the material. It closes up again after use to ensure the toy remains waterproof. More on that in a bit.

Pushing the jackpin through and into the O-Wand Vibrator, I was ready to plug in and charge. The buttons on the handle have red LEDs behind them (seriously, black and red? Can this sex toy be any more me?!) which let you know when it’s charging, when it’s ready etc.

During Use

There’s a few buttons on the handle of the O-Wand Vibrator but they’re simple enough to figure out. Press and hold the bottom one to switch on (and same to switch off), there’s a change setting button in the middle and the top one is to raise the intensity levels.

Although there’s a generous offering of vibration patterns and pulses, the three constant vibration settings are, as usual, where it’s at for me. I’m not a patterns and pulses type of woman.

So did the O-Wand Vibrator bring me to orgasm? Or was it yet another wand shaped reject for the sex toy recycling bin?

I’m both ecstatic and shocked to reveal that the O-Wand Vibrator absolutely and completely works for me. I had given up hope on finding another wand vibrator with the amount of power and the style of vibration which persuades my clit to tip over into the orgasmic abyss every time.

It took less than a minute to bring myself to orgasm the first time I used the O-Wand Vibrator, and depending on my mood it has been just as quick or sometimes a more lazy ride to orgasm in subsequent sessions. Even with an audience…

Using The O-Burst Attachment

The problem with using any style of attachments on vibrators is that they can often dampen the vibrations felt by the person using it. This is all very well if you’re the delicate sort and prefer gentle or low vibrations to caress you to bliss. If you’re a power Queen like me, however, it can be difficult to enjoy a favourite vibrator when the vibrations are dampened to below the required strength.

This was my worry when using the included O-Burst attachment with my O-Wand Vibrator.

Amazingly, I can still orgasm when the O-Burst attachment is on the head of the vibrator. I think it’s because the attachment is a thinner material than many of the yukky jelly types – although saying that, it’s certainly not flimsy or liable to break. The nobbly bits feel amazing enough without lube – or just with natural lubrication produced during personal stimulation – but with water based lube added the sensation is almost overwhelming. If you’re a fan of textured sex toys then I have a feeling you’d love the O-Burst attachment.

When I’m grabbing the O-Wand Vibrator for a quick release, though, I tend to just use it as-is rather than with the nobbly head.

Vibration Strength & Style

I’ve been pondering how to describe the vibrations the O-Wand Vibrator provides. Although it brings me to orgasm each time, it’s still different from the Doxy Wand. Where the Doxy pins me down and rips an orgasm out of me, leaving me a shuddering, worn-out wreck (it’s ok, I like that sort of thing), the O-Wand Vibrator expertly massages and caresses me to the pinnacle of pleasure.

The vibrations are powerful, no doubt about it. They’re less thuddy than the Doxy Wand, in my opinion; more like an oversized classic vaginal vibrator than that constant battering type of stimulation.

Although the vibrations are certainly not silent, they’re quieter than the Doxy too. Not that that would be difficult, it’s no secret that when requiring jet engine levels of vibration power you tend to sacrifice discretion in the process. See my Sybian review.

O-Wand Vibrator Videos

The O-Wand Vibrator sounds louder in my watery video than when used in bed or elsewhere. I think the water and the shape of my basin act as amplifiers for the noise. I’ve made another little video to show the noise levels and use when not in water.

I’m happy using the O-Wand Vibrator under the duvet with the bedroom door closed, and in the bathroom on the low to medium vibration settings. Top speed would be a bit of a risk for me when other people are in the house, though.

Is the O-Wand Vibrator Worth The Price Tag?

Let’s take a look at what you get with the O-Wand Vibrator:

  • Powerful vibration with the freedom of a cordless vibrator
  • Rechargeable power
  • A wide array of vibration settings to suit your preferences and mood
  • Body-safe material; made with silicone
  • Included O-Burst attachment for a different sensory treat (other attachments available separately, including a penis masturbator style – read my review)
  • Various mains plug attachments for your specific power socket type
  • Easy to hold handle with central space for your fingers
  • It’s waterproof

Yes, you read that correctly: the O-Wand Vibrator is waterproof. It’s a wand vibrator which is not only rechargeable and cordless and can bring me to orgasm – I can use it in the bath, shower, public swimming baths (probably not, though) and wash it between uses without any worry.

Unfortunately, the O-Wand Vibrator is over double the price of the Doxy Wand, so take this into account when deciding which would be best for you.

O-Wand Vibrator Review Doxy Massager Comparison

Despite the incredibly high price, I have no choice but to award the O-Wand Vibrator full marks.

This superb wand vibrator has completely taken me by surprise, and if you’re able to save up and buy one for yourself (or persuade a loaded mate to gift you one for Christmas/Valentine’s Day/your birthday) I’m sure it would be the glorious cherry on the cake of your sex toy collection.

The O-Wand Vibrator hasn’t replaced my Doxy Massager. Although they’re both wand vibrators, they are very different beasts. They provide a different sort of stimulation and I’m in the very lucky position of being able to decide whether I want to be screech-fucked by the Doxy or brought to a purring climax by the O-Wand.
