Nothosaur Toys Anubis Dildo
I’m delighted to be reviewing another exciting sex toy from Nothosaur this month – this time, the glistening, gorgeous Nothosaur Toys Anubis Dildo. Inspired by the ancient Egyptian jackal-headed god who guided souls to the afterlife and judged their purity, this canine-contoured dildo promises to preside over your pleasure until you reach the fabled ‘petite mort.’ But did this divine masterpiece lead me to celestial orgasms, or should it be consigned to history? Read on for my full review!

How It Feels
What a beautiful dildo Anubis is, in its Saga colourway. It’s glistening all over, with purple colour at the base graduating to shimmery gold from md-way up the shaft to the tip. I have the medium size, in medium silicone firmness. It’s surprising that this is medium firmness silicone – my other Nothosaur Toys dildos in the same firmness are firmer than this one. My Anubis is really squishy! You can see what I mean in my review video in the next section.
Despite the unexpected squishiness, I’ve enjoyed trying out the Nothosaur Toys Anubis Dildo. The medium size is perfect for me; not too small to be enjoyed and not too large to comfortably insert vaginally. I prefer to use it vaginally, but if you want/need to use it anally you can do. The balls and suction cup at the bottom provide the required flared base, so it’s safe to use for anal play as long as you can comfortably take whatever size you order. I have medium size, it’s also available in small, large, XL and XXL sizes. Don’t forget to use a generous amount of lube if you decide to try it anally!
Shape & Insertion
I’m always excited to try a new Nothosaur Toys dildo, and when it has the delicious contours and kinky canine-inspired shape of Anubis, the excitement is even greater. The only thing worrying me slightly, before use, was the girth of the tip. Instead of the traditional tapered rounded tip of a dildo, Anubis has an almost trumpet-shaped tip, with a circumference of 6.75 inches around the head rim. Happily, and in no small part because of the unexpected squishiness of the silicone material, I was able to insert Anubis vaginally without any discomfort and without too much effort. Some water-based lube helped it slide inside me.
The squishiness of the silicone material which aided initial insertion was then surprisingly unhelpful when it came to trying to slide the rest of the shaft inside. I had to try and retain grip on the lubed toy, and shove it by grasping the base, but it kept kinking in the middle or else just bunching up without actually travelling any further inside me. Due to the softness of the material it wasn’t like putting the base on a flat surface and sitting down on the dildo would help either; the toy would just fold and crumple rather than be driven inside.
Suction Issues
While on the subject of the base, I must mention the suction cup feature. The Nothosaur Toys product page states that this size can come with the Vac-U-Lock adaptor base, or the default suction cup base. Unfortunately – and as you’ll see in my review video below – I can’t get the dildo to suction to a flat surface. It just doesn’t adhere for any good length of time.
On the rare occasion I did manage to get it to stick to a smooth surface, it only lasted a few seconds, and any movement of the dildo resulted in it detaching. I was surprised at this, because usually Nothosaur Toys products do as they say they will, and if they say a toy has a suction cup base, then it would be expected to suction to a smooth surface.
Edit: After speaking to the Nothosaur Toys team, I was advised that pressing down on the balls as well as from the shaft helps with suction. I tried this and it did help improve suction a little. I still feel that the base isn’t concave enough on my Anubis to provide the strength of suction I’d ideally like to see.
Requires Careful Storage
As well as being surprisingly soft for what I thought was medium-firmness silicone, the material is very prone to attracting fluff and hair from any surface it comes into contact with. Happily, Nothosaur Toys sent me a storage pouch along with the toy, so I can keep the dildo dust-free between uses. It’s easy to wash after use, which I usually do in a sink of warm soapy water, then dry it off and store it safely until next time.
Because of my difficulties inserting this sex toy and the disappointing lack of suction from the base, I haven’t been able to enjoy this dildo as much as some of my other Nothosaur Toys dildos. It’s a real shame, because the colour, contours and evocative design of Anubis otherwise has huge appeal.

Summary
The Nothosaur Toys Anubis Dildo is undoubtedly a beautiful sex toy, especially in the Saga colourway, with a shimmering gradient from purple to gold. The medium size and unexpected softness of the “medium-firm” silicone made initial insertion easy, but the squishiness turned into a real challenge when trying to slide in the rest of the shaft. The trumpet-shaped tip was initially a concern, but the toy’s softness helped me insert it without any discomfort. Unfortunately, the suction cup base failed to properly adhere to smooth surfaces (edit: pushing down on the balls as well as from the shaft helped slightly, after some advice from the Nothosaur Toys team), and the material was prone to picking up dust and hair wherever I set it down. While the design and aesthetic are wonderfully appealing, these functional issues prevented the toy from being as enjoyable as some of my other Nothosaur Toys dildos.
I’d recommend Anubis, but I’d strongly advise you choose hard firmness and opt for a Vac-U-Lock adapter base that you can use with a suction plug accessory to affix the dildo to a smooth surface, instead of relying on the default suction base.

Cons
- Softer than expected for a medium-firm silicone, making full insertion difficult
- Suction cup base isn’t the strongest; press down on the balls as well as shaft to get the best grip

- Trumpet-shaped tip may be a concern for toy newbies, make careful note of the size before you order
- Difficult to grip and control due to its softness, especially when coated in lube

General Info & Specs
According to the Nothosaur Toys team, my Anubis dildo is medium size, in medium firmness silicone and in Saga colourway. The Saga colour option has translated to a purpley base graduating up to gold from mid shaft up to the tip.
Despite being medium firmness, my dildo is really quite squishy. It also doesn’t stand upright by itself; if you try to stand it on a flat surface, the dildo will simply fall over. Instead of the optional Vac-U-Lock adapter base, my Anubis dildo in medium size has the default suction cup base. As mentioned earlier in this review, I didn’t find that the base actually suctioned very well, though.
Packaging & Unboxing
I have received several parcels from the Nothosaur Toys team at this point, and they are always discreet for the postal service in a plain brown outer package or box. Inside, my review products are always carefully housed within recyclable packaging materials to keep them safe and stop them rattling about during transit.
The Nothosaur Toys Anubis Dildo was found inside the usual minimal packaging from the team; a sealed-top plastic bag with transparent front so you can see the toy inside and a black reverse side with Nothosaur logo.
Along with the dildo I received a Nothosaur branded fabric drawstring storage pouch, which was a thoughtful and welcome inclusion.
Size & Measurements
I have the medium size Nothosaur Toys Anubis Dildo.
By my measurements, it measures:
- 8.75 inches in overall length
- 7.5 inches insertable length
- Circumference – 6.75 inches girth around the wide rim of the tip, 6 inches around mid-shaft and 5.5 inches around the bottom of the insertable part, just above the balls.
Anubis is available in small, large, XL and XXL sizes, details of which you can find on the product page at Nothosaur Toys. You can also choose your preferred colour scheme or create your perfect custom blend.
