I was fascinated to recently learn about some new additions to the bestselling and –as I know from personal experience- highly effective Lovehoney Desire sex toys collection. I was lucky enough to be offered some of these new sex toys to test and review, by the lovely Lovehoney team. Packaging & What’s In The Box

The Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Wand Vibrator comes in the reliably discreet outer packaging from the Lovehoney team, while the vibrator is packaged in a recognisable ‘Desire’ collection box. There are several Lovehoney Desire sex toy reviews here on the blog, so you can have a look through and see what I mean. I like the design – the dark tones with purple highlights has connotations of both luxury and elegance.

The box also gives you some pointers about the sex toy within – there’s an image, plus some text about the toy and the Lovehoney company information too.

Inside the box you find the black zip-up storage case, which is a welcome and impressively luxurious inclusion. The zips are the lockable style as you find on the other Desire sex toys storage bags and cases included; the clever design has interlocking loops which mean you can lock the sex toy storage case with a small padlock (not included but easy to source).

In the case is the wand vibrator, the charging lead and a little multi-lingual instruction booklet.

First Impressions & Measurements

What sort of a wand is this? Was honestly my first question when I took it out of the box and storage bag. I have lots of other wand vibrators, different brands, styles and sizes –but none like this. My others all have the same rounded style head which is how wand vibrators are traditionally tipped. This Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Wand Vibrator widens from a slender, comfortable to hold handle, to a wider cylindrical and curiously angled tip. The tip fascia has a raised, smoothly rounded nodule which grabbed my attention immediately. Ooh.. hello. 👀

It’s slightly smaller than the traditional wand vibrator, with an overall length of 10 inches. The maximum circumference of the cylindrical head area is 6.4 inches, while the fascia is 1.9 inches wide and 2.25 inches high (as you look down at it, handle controls facing directly up).

The Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Wand Vibrator is fully waterproof and features a travel lock mechanism should you need it. Full details are provided in the instruction booklet.

Charging Up

It’s nice and easy to charge the Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Wand Vibrator; just use the included USB charging lead which plugs into the port at the base of the wand while the other end goes into a USB port of your choice. I like to use my PC or a USB-to-mains adaptor plug by the bed (multi USB plug readily available on Amazon and other electrical retailers).

While charging, an LED blinks red on the handle.

During Use

It’s rare that I test out a sex toy while having absolutely no idea whether it will be effective for me or not. Sure, I am the biggest wand vibrator fan –but this angled head style, with a raised nodule? The sense of newness and the unknown had me seduced. I just had to give it a try and see how it felt.

Of course, I had to wait until it was fully charged before I could enjoy my Desire Wand adventure. Once ready, I set the radio blaring (in case it was a noisy type), locked the door and popped the wand into position. I’m familiar with the controls as they’re the same as on the other Lovehoney Desire sex toys I’ve tested: press and hold + to turn on then use that to raise intensity, lower intensity with the – or keep hold of it to turn off.

The central ‘O’ button changes the vibrating mode from the default constant to allow you to scroll through the rest of the 8 waves and pulses. There are 12 levels of intensity on each setting, including on the constant vibrating mode, raised or lowered by those + and – buttons.

Usually with wand vibrators I can deliver the clitoral stimulation by holding the wand in a fairly vertical position, but due to the angled head and ‘pleasure nub’ on the Lovehoney Desire Wand I found it was more effective to lower the handle down to almost a horizontal position. It’s therefore much more comfortable using this wand while lying down, or at least in a sitting position, rather than standing upright.

The vibrations are those gloriously powerful and deep, rumbly vibes I loved with the other Lovehoney Desire sex toys I’ve enjoyed. As a bonus, the wand isn’t too loud, either. Usually that’s the payoff for power; an extremely loud and indiscreet vibe. Not so with the Desire Wand. You can hear the low noise from it of course when it’s in your hand and you’re in the same room, but beyond a closed door it’s indiscernible. Yep, even when I turned the radio off 😉

And the all-important question: does it work? YES. I was not only thrilled to discover and try out a completely new (to me at least) style of wand head, but overjoyed that it really does work for me. That pleasure nub nestles against my clitoral area, delivering the powerful vibrations to my clit in an orgasmically effective way. The angled fascia of the wand is extremely comfortable and is perfect for sitting flush against my vulva while the vibes from the nub work their magic.

This one’s definitely going in my ‘quick grab’ collection!

Summary

The thoughtfully designed, new shape of the Lovehoney Desire Luxury Rechargeable Wand Vibrator is a fantastic example of pleasure product engineering. Although I still adore my traditional wand vibrators, with their rounded heads, I’m over the moon that this angled tip with pleasure nub design works for me –and in such an effective way.

This wand vibrator offers you so many other brilliant features too –it’s rechargeable, waterproof, quiet, coated with body-safe and non-porous silicone, travel-friendly with its button lock, comes with a zip up storage bag and offers an array of gentle to powerful vibrating modes.
