Packaging
The Hot Octopuss Padded Leather Wrist Cuffs arrived in discreet outer packaging from the company, while the cuffs themselves are simply packaged in transparent plastic which has a Hot Octopuss branded sticker.
Material
Made from glossy black genuine leather, these Hot Octopuss Padded Leather Wrist Cuffs look and feel very luxurious. The inner area of the cuffs reveal just how sumptuously padded they are, for relative comfort and anti-chafing during even the most intense consensual restriction play sessions.
Versatility
I was especially pleased to see that the cuffs can be clipped together using the double-ended trigger clip & chain. Instead of being permanently attached to each other, or at least one side being permanently affixed to a cuff, the double ended trigger clip chain is entirely detachable from the cuffs. This means they can be worn without being attached to anything, pre-bondage, and the clips & chain used to attach either one or both to another bondage accessory or item of bondage furniture as well as the cuffs to each other, which is how they arrive. This thoughtful if small design feature has resulted in an extremely versatile item of bondage gear.
Lockable
As well as the extreme versatility provided by the entirely detachable trigger clips chain, you can also lock the Hot Octopuss Padded Leather Wrist Cuffs on to your consenting play partner for additional erotic bondage thrills. You will need your own small padlock (keep those keys safe!), which can then be locked through the loop of the specially designed buckle spoke.
The padlock can’t then be pulled back through the leather strap of the wrist cuff, meaning the wearer is entirely at your mercy regarding how long they’ll be wearing the cuff(s).
Adding a small padlock to the cuffs after fastening around the submissive’s wrists always results in an extra intense frisson of arousal for both Dominant and submissive. There is something about being locked into restraints, about the futility of struggling against them and being entirely at the mercy of the one in control which pushes my ‘fuck yes, that’s hot’ button. As mentioned above, the inner area of these cuffs is thoughtfully and luxuriously padded. It may seem strange to prioritise comfort if you’re a stranger to BDSM, but the comfort and safety of everyone involved in power exchange sessions and playtimes in D/s is top priority. The padded areas on the insides of these cuffs guard against chafing and other damage during wear and use, and is a sign of good quality, thoughtfully designed bondage gear.
During Use
The padding and great quality finish to the Hot Octopuss Padded Leather Wrist Cuffs makes them extremely comfortable during wear & even in quite rough/vigorous play sessions. They don’t feel like they’ll break or become damaged, and there are no worries about skin damage from chafing.
These cuffs were extremely easy to fit on to myself, before bondage play with my husband, and they’re also simple to fit on someone else’s wrists too. This means the submissive can either start the session wearing the cuffs that they’ve put on themselves, ready to be chained together or attached to something else, or the Dominant can enjoy fitting them to the sub’s wrists without worrying they’ll be a hassle/detract from the erotic atmosphere.
What makes these cuffs stand apart from standard types is the fact that the chain is totally detachable. I can’t emphasise enough just how useful this is, and how versatile it makes the bondage cuffs. The chain can be used entirely separately, with other toys and accessories -such as a collar with D-ring, ankle cuffs, Shibari rope harness once the submissive is bound, back of a mouth gag or hood, or to join compatible nipple clamps.
As the chain is totally but also easily detachable from the wrist cuffs, it means instant release from bondage is possible. No time wasted undoing the buckles, you can instantly release from a bound position by unclipping one or both ends of the central chain. This gives the wrist cuffs added appeal for those new to bondage as well as versatility to those with more experience in the D/s scene. As mentioned previously, they’re also lockable if you have little padlocks – so don’t worry that they’ll be too tame for you if you’re after more extreme power exchange and bondage adventures.
