HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

By Tigerlily

The Hismith Servok (also known as Servok Premium in the US), is a game changer in the world of fucking machines.

Hismith already leads the midrange and budget market, but now they’ve stormed straight into the high-end too, with the Hismith Servok, featuring a completely new mechanical design and motor that allows the holy grail of fucking machine features: dynamically adjustable stroke length and depth. The unique design also allows it to handle much bigger toys with ease.

Dynamic Stroke Length

Let’s jump straight into explaining what that standout feature is and why it’s so amazing.

On the budget end of the market, the stroke length is short and fixed—but you usually get speed control. Not very fun.

In the mid-range, the Hismith Premium offers the ability to mechanically adjust the stroke length prior to turning on the machine. You just had to unscrew the crankpin and change where the shaft attached to the disc. It’s a manual adjustment, but you could typically set anywhere from 1.5 to 6 inches of thrust depth. But if you had it set already on short strokes, and wanted to switch up to something longer, that meant turning off the machine, unscrewing the shaft, adjusting, then screwing it back again.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

But the Hismith Servok—as the name hints at—uses a servo motor instead (aka a stepper motor, because it works in steps). These kinds of motor don’t turn on or off with a speed control, but instead allow you to precisely control movement. They’re typically used in 3D printers and other manufacturing processes that require detailed movements. Combined with a ball screw mechanism, it means that the Servok can change the stroke length while you’re using it—anywhere from 0.67 of an inch to 6.7 inches. You can also change where that stroke starts, where it stops, and of course, the speed.

But it gets better. Not only can you adjust it on the fly, it can also be app controlled, and with it that brings remote control opportunities and my favourite feature: scripted experiences created by other Hismith users.

It’s hard to convey in writing how mind-blowing these features really are.

Unboxing the Servok

Inside the box you’ll find a strong canvas carry case, and everything is conveniently packed inside here. However, it does mean a little construction is needed.

First you’ll find the main unit itself: shrink wrapped, and extremely heavy.

Also on the top layer is a box containing the power supply and some small tools, and another box containing a Kliclok compatible dual-density silicone dildo and a remote control.

Keep the remote safe, but don’t feel like you have to use it. You’re probably going to want to jump straight into the app to really experience this toy. The remote control supplied will only adjust speed—to experience the full capabilities of the Servok, you must use the app.

The Servok comes with a realistic dual-density dildo (squishy on the outside and firmer on the inside), and it’s a great starter toy to try with the machine. It’s about 6 inches long and one of the most realistic I’ve seen, with lifelike colouration and veiny details. But don’t worry if it’s not to your taste: the Servok can handle anything, thanks to its Kliclok connector and optional array of accessories.

Remove the top layer to find more hardware underneath. Don’t throw the packaging away though as you’ll need it to keep the case organised in future, in the unlikely event that you ever decide to pack the Servok away and not keep it beside your bed at all times.

The lower layer contains the legs and thrusting rod. The thrusting rod is easy to screw in to the main body, but the legs are a little trickier.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

The Servok includes four leg uprights and two horizontal feet, enabling it to stand securely as high as 80cm off the ground. By contrast, the Hismith Premium could only reach a maximum of 40cm. Depending on the height you want the machine to sit at, you won’t need to use all of these vertical sections, but for the full height, you should screw two sections into each other, so you’re left with two 80cm tall legs.

Then you’ll need the hex tool supplied to fit the feet. Remove the bolt that secures the two halves of the feet fixings, and fit around the bottom of the vertical leg and the middle of the foot section.

To put these legs into the machine, undo the quick latching screw on each leg, push the leg in, and set it to the desired height. If the latch isn’t securing correctly, just spin it around a few times like a screw.

That’s it for construction: all that’s left is to plug the power in.

At this point, I’ll note there’s a strong smell of machined parts oil and grease when you unbox it. This does lessen significantly after a while but it’s definitely something that’s still present—even after a few weeks—and I’m not sure it will ever go away completely. It’s just the nature of a complex piece of machinery that needs lubrication.

Get Your Geek On: Change the Stepper Motor Mode

One other design point I want to draw your attention to is the DIP switches on the motor, which usually wouldn’t be accessible to the end consumer. But in this case, HiSmith has left it up to you to configure the motor, if you want to adjust it. Feel free to completely ignore these, but if you find the HiSmith skipping steps or stalling at maximum speed, you can reduce the speed by increasing the number of steps.

By default, it’s set at 400 steps. Since changing this to 800 (DIP switch 3 in the off position), I’ve not had a problem with stalling since, though the overall maximum speed is reduced.

Using the HiSmith Servok

Attaching a Kliklok dildo to the Servok is simplicity itself: just push it on. If you’re having trouble, make sure the hexagonal end is aligned. Once it’s done correctly you’ll find it clicks into place. To remove, just pull back the metal hood toward the Servok, and it’ll pop right off again.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

This Kliclok connector is the same one used on the HiSmith Premium, so if you already own a load of Premium toys and accessories, they’ll all fit on this one. If you don’t already own other Kliclok accessories, know that HiSmith has a whole range of compatible dildos—as well as adaptors for the popular Vac-U-Lock system, or a generic flat plate to attach toys equipped with a suction cup.

Once your toy is attached and you’ve got it plugged, turn the power on from the inline power switch on the cable. The Servok will immediately go through a short power on sequence where it finds the maximum and minimum range. While this is reasonably slow, you should still be careful that it won’t poke you in unwanted places yet. Then you’re good to play.

As mentioned, you can use the included remote control, but it’s somewhat useless since it won’t allow you to change the depth at all—it’ll just change the speed, or load a pattern (all of which only affect the speed). So, put that away and pull out your smartphone.

Download the HiSmith app (it’s on the Apple App Store or Google Play) and register an account. While there are some offline play features, you’ll need to login for the full set of features.

If this is your first time, you’ll need to connect to the Servok using the Bluetooth button in the top right. Don’t try to use your phone’s built-in Bluetooth dialog.

The home screen shows a selection of ready-made scripts, but we’ll discuss those more in a moment. For now, the best way to demonstrate and explain all the features is to open the Solo mode by clicking on the heart icon toward the bottom of the screen.

Solo Mode

There are five controls to play with in Solo mode.

The first is the “A” toggle right at the top. This switches between automatic thrusting, and manual control.

Then comes three sliders.

The first of these is the maximum speed slider. In automatic mode, the touchpad area at the bottom controls the speed, but this slider controls the maximum. However, you’ll find the maximum and minimum speeds also vary according to the current stroke length, so deep strokes are slower at maximum speed that short strokes are at maximum speed.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

The next slider is for stroke length, and this has both minimum and maximum range controls on it. To experience the absolute full range and full depth of the toy, you’ll leave the maximum and minimum at either extreme. If you find the toy is popping out on the backward motion, move the minimum depth point until it stays in.

Because this such a powerful machine and with quite a large range, I would err on the side of safety here. No software is ever fool-proof and one slip of your finger could potentially mean injury. After understanding these controls, I’d recommend switching over to manual mode at the start of every session and ensure you push the Servok out to its maximum thrust position, then fully insert the toy to your absolute comfort limit. You can always ease off the maximum a little to build up to deeper thrusts, but this way you’ll be safe in the knowledge it’s not going to poke a hole in you.

The final slider is a little more complicated to understand, but essentially it changes the stroke behaviour from robotic on the left with no smoothing (a constant speed on each stroke), to a smoother stroke on the far right (the stroke will decelerate as it reaches the apex, and accelerate back out again).

It’s also worth knowing that a smooth stroke will decrease the overall maximum speed, and this is most noticeable on shorter strokes. If you find yourself wanting the fastest strokes over the shortest distance—which is fantastic for prostate play—then you should make sure turn the smoothness off. At the highest speed shortest stroke, you essentially turn the servo into a vibrator doing 10 strokes per second, which is quite stunning. Unfortunately I found the Servok stalled quite often when doing this, but doubling the number of steps solved it (and slowed it down by about half).

Lastly, let’s talk about manual control. Disable automatic mode by switching off the A toggle. Then the touchpad at the bottom lets you directly control the position of the dildo. However, it also has its overall movement restricted by the minimum and maximum slider, and the motion is affected by the smoothness slider. More smoothness equals less responsive movement. To most accurately follow your finger movement, turn the smoothness right off.

User Scripts are Broken Right Now

One of the standout features of the HiSmith app is the selection of user submitted fucking “scripts”. These can be anywhere from ten minutes to an hour of varied, unique, and dynamic thrusts, enabling you lie back and enjoy the ride.

This is by far my favourite part of the app, because while handing over control to a partner or laying there twiddling the sliders is fun, I find it’s much more realistic to load up a program and have no idea what’s going to happen next. Is it going to have slow deep thrusts interspersed with a few rapid bursts? Is it going to build up to a tantalising full speed finish? Or is it just completely random? You can preview the script, using a standard playback slider like you might a song track, or you can just await any surprises it might bring.

At least that’s how it should work in theory.

In practice, the problem is that right now the app lists scripts for the Servok and Premium together in the same list which can’t be filtered. The scripts for the Premium machine just don’t work for the Servok. There’s no backward compatibility at all, so only scripts made specifically for the Servok will work with the Servok.

With such a small user base, after scrolling for ages there’s actually only one script I managed to find for the Servok. You can tell because it has some extra information on the preview area (which seems to be showing either speed range or depth—it’s not clear).

This is really disappointing. HiSmith have said they’re working on a an update that will add filtering, but it wasn’t live yet at the time we published this review. I was also unable to create my own scripts, as for some reason they wouldn’t actually save. I’m sure this will be fixed in the update too.

Longer Legs for More Play Positions

One thing I really appreciate is the additional legs provided with the Servok. On top the standard 40cm legs the same as we saw on the HiSmith Premium, the Servok adds two more extension legs into the box so you can double up to 80cm, which give you a much great range of positional freedom when using your machine, including even more extreme angles.

For instance, we recently bought a fairly large bit of bondage furniture, but we’ve been unable to use the HiSmith Premium because it just wouldn’t reach, even with the machine fully extended and the bench dropped down as low as possible. The extended legs of the HiSmith Servok means we’re in business again.

A more common use case might be your bed. It’s never really been possible to securely mount the HiSmith Premium just onto of a mattress. So these extra long legs add some seriously fantastic options for more positions and play opportunities.

Big Dildos

Another thing which is fantastic about the mechanical design of the Servok is that the threaded shaft means it can handle a lot bigger, heavier dildos—up to about 2.5kg—without any sagging or loss of power.

HiSmith themselves sell a huge range of Kliclok-compatible toys, and they sent us a few big ones to demonstrate this. And not only will it handle those big toys fine, it maintains a tremendous thrusting power with a maximum static torque of 2 newton meters (which is why it’s so important to keep safety of thrusting depth in mind with the Servok).

You can see the whites of my partner’s fingers below as she tries to stop the thrust.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

As a side note, the biggest toy they sent to demo with is this massive realistic beast of a black cock, weighing no less than 1.06kg and measuring 2.8 inches diameter and 9.8 inches insertable. While most of the HiSmith toys are silicone, this one is actually PVC, so I’d hesitate to recommend it. That said, it’s been my toy of choice while testing, and I’ve experienced no adverse reaction to it yet. It’s possible the modern plasticisers used are indeed a lot safer compared to “jelly” dildos of the past (which I’ve had allergic reactions to in my years of innocence when it came to safe sex toy materials), still, the safest option is always to buy only silicone dildos. They’re no longer the rarity they once were.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

This size attachment would have really taxed even the HiSmith Premium; the shaft would bend down and rub against the machine case. On the Servok, not a single fuck was given when we attached this (I mean, technically many fucks were given and gratefully received, but you know what I mean). The motor is more than happy to pound this in and out of its target.

I also tried an even bigger toy from John Thomas, with the help of a Kliclok to Vac-U-Lock adapter. Again, it handled it fine.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

I’m confident in saying there’s no toy available that the Servok couldn’t handle, and this is helped by the overall weight of the machine, giving it a lot more stability in use.

If your thing is big toys and you want a fucking machine to handle those and anything else you throw at it: this is it.

What’s Not To Like About the Servok?

Servo motors can be awkward, and they can sometimes stall. On a few occasions I’ve had to cut power to the machine and restart it. It’ll reconnect within ten seconds, but still, in the middle of a session this can obviously be a mood killer. I found that increasing the number of steps fixed this.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

Because a servo motor works in steps, during manual mode or slow movements you can sometimes feel each step as it shudders along. It can be a little strange, and you might feel like you’re breaking it, but you’re not—that’s just the way this kind of motor works internally. It’s a weird user experience and feels wrong.

The other major downside is the noise level. There’s no easy to say this: it’s loud. Really loud. Up to 80db, we measured. The noise varies depending on the speed, stroke length, and smoothness.

Sometimes it can even be rather musical, with each stroke hitting a different pitch. For longer, smooth strokes, you’ll find a tolerable motor whine—loud, but fairly constant, and something that could easily be disguised by music.

With smoothness turned off, it’ll make a noticeable thud at each end of the stroke, like the beat of a drum. High-speed short close strokes are more like a mini jackhammer level of noise, and there’s no way you could hide this from roommates or sensibly use it in an apartment.

For me that’s not a problem, but I think it’ll be a dealbreaker for a lot of people.

The weight could be also an issue. If you need to move it around a lot or hide it in a cupboard, it’s bulky and awkward. Of course, you can pack it down to the carry case size, but then you’d have to set it up again, which isn’t difficult, but not really something you want to spend time doing when the mood takes you. Ideally, you’d have a permanent play space or dungeon where you could leave this setup.

What Other Options Are There?

Of the handful of current market offerings that also do adjustable depth, the HiSmith Servok is a clear winner. The Shockspot or HugHer Tango offer similar hardware features (albeit different mechanical designs), but nowhere near the same level of software support. Both off-the-shelf alternatives are also more expensive. While the $1900 price tag of the Hismith Servok is expensive—it’s actually the cheapest on the market for this type of machine.

Heavy duty hardware like this is expensive and I wouldn’t expect to see this machine get much cheaper over time. It’s powerful, it’s heavy, there’s a lot of metal here, and it’s never going to benefit from mass production.

If you have a 3D printer and a knack for DIY, you can build the OSSM servo-based machine for around $500. The features and performance are similar, but it won’t handle nearly as large toys.

Is It Worth Buying the Hismith Servok?

As an off-the-shelf powerful adjustable fucking machine with programming capabilities and depth adjustment on the fly, I can tentatively recommend the Hismith Servok… with a few caveats.

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

The HiSmith Servok is full of potential, but not quite there yet. The app is in serious need of development, because while it works relatively fine for the simple speed adjustable machines elsewhere in the HiSmith line, it needs more features to match the powerful hardware of the Servok. At the very least the ability to filter the scripts is essential, so the community can do the hard work of coming up with motion scripts (or should that be “pleasure programs”?)

HiSmith Servok Fucking Machine Review (aka Servok Premium)

If you can live with the noise level (and that’s a pretty big ask, I admit), the hardware is extraordinary. It can handle enormous dildos, has the power to push through any resistance, and the responsive remote control touch interface can be absolutely divine.

The good news is that any current problems with the machine are software based, and as such, can be fixed. A few app updates and opening up the Bluetooth API to allow it work with third party apps like XToys or Intiface, would make this a dream machine.

Still, what we have on offer right now is the best dynamic depth fucking machine on the market—there is no comparison —and if you can afford it, it’s a hugely satisfying investment in your personal pleasure. But it could still be better with a bit more app development.

We give the HiSmith Servok a 9/10—with the potential for a 10.
