Get inspired for this year’s grown-up get-together with this selection of adult Halloween party games that are easy to run and big on laughs.

During my years as a sex toy party planner, Halloween themed evenings were always the most popular with adults. As a child I loved Halloween, and my love of all things spooky only grew. For everyone planning a party for friends this October, here are tried-and-tested games that work brilliantly for grown-ups.

Adult Halloween Party Games

Frankenstein’s Lair

Dr Frankenstein is building a new monster but there has been a power cut. Blindfold your guests and ask them to identify the “body parts” in mystery bowls. The most correct guesses wins.

Method

Use decorated boxes, bowls and jars. Add ketchup, yoghurt and water to make things squelchy.

Bring guests into the “lair” one by one and pop on a blindfold. Ask them to place their hands into the dishes and guess the body parts.

Scary Movie Guess Who

On arrival, stick the name of a scary movie character on the back of each guest. They ask only yes or no questions to discover who they are. Great mingler to start the night.

Ghoulish Scavenger Hunt

Split into teams and send them out in full costume to collect a list of items. First team back with everything wins.

Hide a few items nearby and set a time limit to keep it exciting.

Zombie Apocalypse Hide and Seek

Classic hide and seek with a spooky twist. While guests hide, the seeker changes into a costume and turns off the lights. Use a torch to stalk the “survivors”. Found players head to the “graveyard” room and lie quietly with arms folded. Last found wins.

Chalk Outlines

Make outlines of brave volunteers on the pavement with chalk. Guests guess who is who.

Pumpkin Rolling

Two volunteers roll pumpkins down a safe stretch. Everyone guesses how far they will travel. Closest guess wins.

Howling Contest

Guests give their best werewolf howl. Judge on length and creativity. Best after a drink or two.

Halloween Truth, Dare or Treat

Fill a cauldron with slips marked Truth, Dare or Treat. Truths can be spooky stories, Dares can be party-friendly antics, Treats might be a sweet or a free pass. Keep it cheeky rather than explicit for a mixed group.

Halloween Footsie

Empty tinned spaghetti into two hollowed pumpkins and add grapes as “eyeballs”. Two volunteers use only their feet to fish out as many grapes as possible in two minutes. Most “eyes” wins.

Scare Tactics

You will need a helper hidden in the house. Gather everyone for a spooky story, lights low. At the key moment your helper cuts the lights, then leaps out with a shout. Simple, harmless jump scare, then laughter.
