Somehow I’ve managed to amass quite a few We-Vibe sex toys now, from the couples We-Vibe 4, 4 and 4+ to toys just for me like the We-Vibe Thrill and We-Vibe Tango bullet vibe. I was asked whether I’d like to review the new product in the range, the We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator, while at the recent Erofame show in Germany. I agreed, not just because I wanted a new We-Vibe toy to play with but because I was intrigued.

It was the same with the We-Vibe 4+. I’d thought to myself why are they bringing out a 4+? Why not a We-Vibe 5? Why so many changes? With the We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator my first thoughts were – what, so they’re removing technology from sex toys to create new versions now? Is it going to have a weaker motor? Will it not connect to a phone app? Will it actually just be the very first version of We-Vibe (which I sadly never tried) put in a new box labelled Classic to appeal to the retro fans out there?

None of those ideas made great business or benevolent sense of course. So why We-Vibe Classic?

Let’s first take a look at the box and what you get with it.

Aside from the signature purple couple’s vibrator, you get a sculpted, lidded, tough shiny white plastic storage case which doubles as the charging dock. There is also a wireless remote control. There is a micro USB lead which is inserted into the back of the charging dock/storage case and the other end into a USB port, to charge up the We-Vibe vibrator. There is also some paperwork: multi language instruction book, details of how to register your We-Vibe to activate the one year warranty and a leaflet with details about the app.

Before I could have a dabble with the new We-Vibe, I needed to charge it up. I duly plugged the little lead in the back of the charging dock, the other end in my USB to mains plug by the bed and the light on the front of the box told me it was hooked up ok. I waited overnight so the next day I was good to go. Simples!

I should mention that with the We-Vibe dock/box I always have to really think about which way round it goes in; there’s three slots in the box and the central one is for the remote control and I always get the two ends of the We-Vibe in the wrong way round first try. I also try to put the lid on back to front. Probably just my strange brain! 🙂

The silicone of this We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator is very velvety. It’s more matte than the shiny material you may have seen on earlier versions of the We-Vibe.

I was still at a bit of a loss as to what made this We-Vibe so different from the We-Vibe 4+ so here’s the lowdown:

As you can see, there are some minor differences but the main one is the reversion to the ‘classic’ insertable shape – as well as the improved flexibility and longer insertable length of the We-Vibe Class vibrator.

You turn on the We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator using the small raised dot at the front of the external arm, or you can use the remote control.

Here’s a quick guide to the remote. There are four pressable areas, in a circle. Buttons top and bottom, buttons left and right.

I found I always had to use the button on the We-Vibe Classic itself to turn the vibrator on, then I could use the remote control after that initial push on the toy.

Top and bottom buttons are to increase and decrease intensity of the vibrations.

Left and right buttons are to scroll through the modes.

Press and hold the bottom button to turn off the We-Vibe Classic.

During use, I found the more flexible fit to be a fantastic change. I did like the spoon, flat base shape and I must admit I’m possibly not as fussy as some people when it comes to the type of shape the insertable part of the We-Vibe is like. I did find that without the flatter area this We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator stayed in place a lot better during use. The flexible fit is comfortable and the powerful vibrations from the two motors inside certainly make you sit up and notice. Or, well… lie back and be thrilled during sex. 😉

The best position for us to use the We-Vibe Classic vibrator in is undoubtedly missionary; in doggy it has a tendency to slip round too much and almost come out on the thrustings, and when I’m on top of him it’s not as comfortable at all. Somehow it just seems to work best in missionary position. I can also control where it’s sat inside me and outside of me best this way; if it slips a little aside from where I need it on my clit I can simply reach down and adjust without interrupting the sex too much.

There is a faintly noticeable seam around the outside of my We-Vibe Classic vibrator, this isn’t too much of an issue for us (it’s noticeable to the eye but not to my vagina or his penis…) but if you’re after a seamless sex toy then this isn’t it. In my opinion the features of the We-Vibe Classic vibrator more than make up for this minor detail.

As we found missionary to be the best position for us to use the We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator in, the waterproof feature was really just an asset when it came to cleaning the toy thoroughly after use. It’s not a sex toy we use in the bath together or shower – standing up sex is already quite fiddly without worrying about a shared sex toy slipping, not being in the right place, falling out etc.

To pair the We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator with the app, you need to first download the app from the App Store or Google Play depending on if you’re on iPhone or Android. Once in the app there are instructions on how to pair. First, there’s a quick guide to what the app offers. At the end of this quick guide, it tells you to press and hold the button on your We-Vibe Classic vibrator until it pulses twice, and you can press the ‘Paid We-Vibe Now’ button at which point it will search for your We-Vibe Classic vibrator. The We-Vibe Classic vibrator gives a little vibratory dance when it’s been found. Cute! The app tells you that it’s found it, too. Then you’re into the app.

There’s a play button bottom centre of the app screen, and a + and – button for the intensities. You can pause any time too. There is a wave adjuster (which you adjust with finger to screen) to raise or lower the vibrations on the internal or external arm of the We-Vibe Classic vibrator. Swipe left or right on this screen to find the pattern and pulsating modes, which can also be adjusted in intensity in the same way as the constant vibrations.

The patterns on the We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator are: Pulse, Wave, Echo, Tide, Crest, Bounce, Surf, Peak and Cha Cha Cha. The graphics on the screen are very good at giving you a visual idea of what each pattern does. Unfortunately I couldn’t take any screenshots of the app while in use, so you’ll just have to believe me 😉

As usual my preference is for the highest intensity constant vibration – this allows me to move as much as I want with the vibration on my clit (or to the side, usually) and not be teased to orgasm but rather travel there as quick as I like.

We’ve really enjoyed the original shape We-Vibe, the power of the motors, the freedom of both movement given by the shape and the range of options through the app. The added flexibility of the velvety-silicone We-Vibe Classic Couple’s Vibrator is also a huge bonus. At first it may seem to you (as it did to me) that there was no need for a We-Vibe Classic, but if the We-Vibe 4+ shape doesn’t do it for you, or you found it too rigid, then I believe you’ll love the We-Vibe Classic vibrator.
