System JO are a company known for lubricants, stimulants and massage based products that I personally would have considered aimed towards the upper end of the market that they serve. So when offered the chance to review the System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel I thought to myself, here is a great chance to see if they live up to the promise and can they deliver a high end product that I would consider is worth the outlay. I actually love massages and frequently they feature heavily as part of foreplay for the simple reason that they get you into such a relaxed and peaceful place.

Nuru massage is an increasingly popular sensual style of Japanese massage that is based upon the masseuse performing the massage using their body, thus increasing the amount of skin to skin or body contact. The term Nuru itself, seems to originate from a Japanese word that means slippery and the original, traditional gels are made from a seaweed based product. The traditional gels are colourless and odourless and essentially provide a full body lubricant with which to slip, slide and massage away to your heart’s content. The description from System Jo backs this up:
“NURU is a style of sensual massage designed to increase emotional closeness and enhance connect, while creating an extremely erotic and intimate experience. JO NURU is for couples who enjoy an adventurous style of full-body massage.
Use the entire body as a massage tool to relax and arouse. Apply relaxing pressure to targeted muscles and erotic zones.
For example: breasts against shoulders or buttocks against lower back. Apply NURU while skin is wet or moist, and use water to maintain the glide.”
The bottle of System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel contains 240ml which should be more than ample for a number of uses. Obviously there is a balance to pay between slippiness and how long the bottle will last for. The packaging on the bottle is very discreet with no pictures or loud graphics, just simple text that describes the product and the directions for usage that you would need. The bottle also has a simple click down lid that dispenses the gel in a very tidy fashion to make sure there are no spills or leaks that could cause any issues.
The front of the packaging describes that the System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel is both paraben and glycol free, so if either of these cause concerns or allergy issues, you have no fears there. The directions on the back of the bottle describe the way that the product should be used and cleaned away and the ingredients that it contains.
Perhaps the most important instruction on the back is that the product should not be used for internal use and I am sure that this could have an impact, with it being a bit of a mood killer to get all slippy and slidey as part of foreplay to then have to pause and clean up before moving on. Whilst I cannot recommend it, I guess a majority of people will just carry on regardless. The bottle also says that it could stain material, so it is important to get yourself set up prior to use with an area where this will not be an issue.
The System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel is water activated, so the best way to use it effectively is post shower or bath, as the water really does increase the lubrication effect. So having prepared and read the instructions, it was time for a shower and test this stuff out.
The first thing I noticed about this material is that it was not as thick as I was expecting it to be, it ran quite well out of the tube. I felt that the System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel did have a slight aroma to it, but only very slightly, and it really did not cause any issues with use. It is completely transparent, so when using it, it is important that any spills are cleaned up rapidly as they could really cause an accident further down the line. The gel sticks to the body well and spreads well with simple massage approach, providing good lubrication and slide. It “strings” well between whatever you are using to massage and the whatever you are massaging.
The System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel certainly is made more slippery by the introduction of water, so although we used straight after a shower, we kept a small bowl of water on hand to reactivate the gel and increase the slide sensation. The gel did not seem to have much of a flavour, however, this did not feature heavily in my test. It did last a fairly long time during use, and each time it began to feel like losing its lubrication a quick dab of water just reset the gel and allowed us to continue with the Nuru style massage.
The System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel did not leave much of a residue, and could be easily cleaned off with a further shower, however, this is where we found you needed to be really careful, as getting into a shower and using it proved quite difficult whilst covered in a slippy, slidey gel that is designed to only become more effective when in contact with water. Be careful!
In summary, this really would make a great addition to any massage set up or foreplay tool. It is simple to use, effective and discretely packaged. The sensation of full body skin on skin contact is fantastic with the System JO Nuru Full Body Sensual Massage Gel really just taking it to a new level.
