System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant Review

By Pleasure Panel reviewer Louise Lace

I received the System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant as a reviewer for the Pleasure Panel. I have reviewed many toys during my time so far on the Pleasure Panel, many of which are silicone and therefore require water-based lubricants to prevent damage so can never have enough compatible lubes. I recently reviewed another water-based lubricant for the panel which did not live up to my expectations due to it being very runny and difficult to manage, I jumped at the chance to review a jelly formula in the hope that it would be a thicker consistency and more practical to use with my toy collection.

The System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant is packaged in a clear tube with silver and blue branding. The packaging is simplistic and while it does have personal lubricant written on it, it doesn’t scream sex. It could happily sit on a shelf with hair gels etc and not look too conspicuous. The flip close cap is helpful in avoiding spillages, I often loose the lids off things so having a cap that cant be lost is perfect for messy me.

The tube has icons on that state that the product is suitable for toys, solo play and couples, is water-based and a lubricant. The packaging also advises that the System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant is suitable for vaginal and penile application intended to lubricate and moisturise. It is not a contraceptive or a spermicide so make sure you don’t depend on this product for protection.

The list of ingredients include: Water, Glycerin, Cellulose Gum, Potassium Sorbate, Sodium Benzoate, Citric Acid, Hydroxyethylcellulose and Tetrasodium EDTA.

Whilst I am no scientist, I have read that Glycerin and Citric Acid have been known to cause unwanted reactions so please be cautious with this product if you have been known to react to Glycerin or Citric Acid in the past. Click to read more advice about lubricant ingredients.

This product does not state that it is paraben free so again this is something to bare in mind if you have a history of problems when using paraben containing products.

My first thought when I unpacked the tube, which Cara had carefully wrapped in a sealed bag to prevent leakage should the postie be less than careful with the product (thanks Cara, nice touch) was “who’s been using my lube?!?”

The tube of System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant was nowhere near full. Once I had stood the product on its cap and allowed the jelly to settle, the lubricant fell short of the top of the tube by around 2 inches. It’s hard to see on the pictures as it is colour free but the product only came up as far as the lowest black line on the artwork. I know liquids need room to move to prevent the packaging seams from bursting, but this genuinely looked like I was receiving a partially used product. This was not the case as became evident when I tried to squeeze some of the jelly onto my finger, the opening of the tube had a foil seal preventing the product from dispensing onto my finger. Thus proving that the lubricant had not been tampered with or used before I received it.

Perhaps System JO need to look at reducing the size of the tube so that the 120ml product fills the tube without so much free space.

After peeling off the foil seal and replacing the flip cap lid I squeezed a small amount of the System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant onto my finger, it has a fairly thick consistency and took a while to drip off my finger. This, for me, is a good sign, I really don’t get along with runny lubes, I find they mostly end up on my bed rather than on me and often need reapplying during play time.

As this is not a flavoured lube, I didn’t taste test the product, I learned that lesson a while back, flavourless lubes rarely taste nice! I did give it a sniff though and while it is not completely odourless, it doesn’t have an offensive smell to it either.

I started my testing process with a gentle masturbation session using my fingers, the System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant lasted well and felt pleasant on my skin. The real test would be how well it performed when used with my ‘lube hungry’ GSilicone Adam silicone dildo, which has been known to drink lube like I drink Barefoot wine!

System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant Review

Coating myself and Adam with a generous quantity of System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant, I settled in for what I was hoping to be a long lasting, uninterrupted session. The jelly water-based lubricant was fabulous! I did not need to reapply. It did not dry out! It was not sticky and clean up afterwards was a quick and simple process.

I really like the System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant. I would rate this product 9/10. Losing a point for the extra space in the bottle and making me think I had been short changed with the quantity supplied.

Thank you to System JO for sending this product to Cara for inclusion in the fabulous Pleasure Panel. Although I received the System JO H2O Jelly Water Based Personal Lubricant free of charge, this in no way affected my opinions on the lubricant.

Louise x
