I received the System JO Gelato Salted Caramel Lube as a gift as part of a recent online order, & wanted to provide an open and honest review of this in return for the kind gesture.

This System JO Gelato Salted Caramel Lube is part of a nice luxury range of flavours. I call it luxury as they are not standard flavours you’d expect to get. Gelato gives the indication that they are ice cream flavours too, which feels right.  It is apparently a new flavoured formula, however, I haven’t tried previous versions.

Presentation
The System JO Gelato Salted Caramel Lube comes in a tall round bottle that is see through, but the black label of the lube covers majority of the bottle. It’s informative, as all the information you need on the outside and the logo carries the air of luxury that you’d expect to go with the flavour on offer. The silver essence with a picture of caramel and salt on the outside gives it a finishing touch, the 120ml bottle wouldn’t look out of place on a bedside cabinet.
Formulation
This flavoured water-based lubricant is sugar, paraben and propylene glycol free. The System JO Gelato Salted Caramel Lube bottle states that it is pH Balanced and pH friendly however, like any flavoured lube, it does have glycerin in it and as such if you have sensitive lady parts you’re likely to need to avoid these as they can cause yeast infections as glycerin can turn to sugar though despite being a sweet lube, it’s apparently a zero calorie treat!
The lube viscosity for a water lube is the best I’ve seen in a long time, you can squeeze it onto your finger or toy and it doesn’t run anywhere, makes a nice change not to be having to move really fast! This would be the addition of Hydroxyethylcellulose within the ingredients which is a thickening agent. There is nothing else in the ingredients that brings me any bother.
During Use
As this is a water based lube, it is toy and condom friendly – it states long lasting, never sticky or tacky and in use this proved to be true, if anything it left a moisturised effect and as for clean up, wipe clean was proficient, but if you wanted to use a baby wipe to be extra sure then you’d have no problem.
Taste
As for the taste, it tastes much more caramel than salted caramel; it has a very sweet taste. You cannot really taste the salt part however it does take the edge off what could be a very sickly product, and as such it’s a nice taste and it doesn’t hang around with a terrible after taste at all!
Summary
This gelato lube is available online for about £14, which for such a luxury lube isn’t too expensive because it’s long lasting, and you don’t need much to have a good time. I’ve had some terrible lubes in my hands which have been a lot less ml and a lot more money!
In summary, I really quite like the lube, the flavour is a little too sweet for likening but that is just personal preference, so for me it gets a 9/10.
