Rocks Off RO-140 Soft Tip Bullet Vibrator Review

You may recall that I recently received the Rocks Off Slap and Tickle Beginners BDSM Kit to review. At the same time I also received a few other Rocks Off sex toys free of charge, in exchange for my fair and honest reviews here at the Cara Sutra sex blog -including this Rocks Off RO-140 Soft Tip Bullet Vibrator in purple.

The Rocks Off Soft Tip bullet vibrators are the alternate choice if you want something a little different to the smooth, cool hardness of their traditional range.

Presentation

The Rocks Off RO-140 Soft Tip Bullet Vibrator is available in Purple, Pink, Red and Black and costs £24.99. It sounds like a lot for something labelled as a bullet vibe but then this is a monstrously proportioned bullet. It comes in a clear plastic housing case.

Size

About the same size as a classic Lady Finger vibe, this 14cm (approx 5.5 inch) vibrator has a circumference of 3.2 inches (8.5cm) around the main part of the shaft yet is still light to pick up.

Powering Up

The end of the vibrator unscrews to reveal the battery compartment. The end has a ridged edge, while means it is easy to twist off and also provides useful extra grip during use, even when using lubricant.

The RO-140 Soft Tip comes with batteries included. The label says ‘Battery Included’ but it actually takes two, so should state ‘Batteries’ – take note. The battery type is N, none of those silly watch batteries around these parts, thanks.

Also: I would have preferred this vibrator to have taken an AA or AAA battery to be honest, I (and I think people generally) have more of those around at home. I do try and keep a plentiful supply of N batteries too, as I have so many bullet vibrators, but still. It’s perhaps something to think about for future versions, if at all possible.

The batteries are already in the toy when you open it up, you just have to remove the paper disc inside, then screw the end back on and you’re good to go.

Material

The shaft of the bullet is made from chrome colour ABS plastic, finished with a soft silicone tip in your colour of choice, in my case, purple. On the shaft is the indented oval with the Rocks Off logo and the particular size details of your bullet in. Like I’ve mentioned in my other Rocks Off bullet reviews, this area also handily helps with grip and doesn’t retain dirt too badly.

Top tip: Keep a nail brush specifically to use while cleaning your sex toys. It really helps you get them spotlessly clean. Combine with the use of an anti-bacterial sex toy cleaner to retain optimum personal and sexual hygiene.

Settings

There are 7 functions on this RO-140 Soft Tip bullet vibrator. I’ll describe them as well as I can!

  • Constant vibration
  • Faster constant vibration
  • Fastest constant vibration
  • Several dots then dash and repeat
  • Fast pulse vibration
  • Escalating then repeat (not wave)
  • 4 high then two low fast dot pulses and repeat

To turn off simply press and hold the end button for a couple of seconds. Upon pressing the button again you are back at the first function, no matter where you switched it off.

Sound Level

Here’s where my problem starts with the RO-140 Soft Tip Bullet vibe. The noise. Oh my god, the noise.

On the first setting it’s quite loud. Like an angry wasp found its way into your brain and is having a tantrum about not being able to get out. By the time you’re up to setting #3, the wasp has turned into a jackhammer on full pelt on the loose in a china shop. It isn’t just the noise from the vibration, it’s the rattling of the batteries/motor within the shaft as well.

The motor inside which provides the vibrations is located towards the tip of the bullet, as the batteries are housed from the end til midway up the shaft. So the insides are basically battery, battery, motor then silicone tip. It’s a rattle fest.

But hey, it’s powerful. The silicone transmits the vibrations really well.

The plastic shaft also transmits the vibrations well. So well, in fact that you get vibration white hand after just a few seconds of use. It’s not so bad if you use the vibrator for penetrative pleasure, inside the vagina, but trying to angle it with your hand for clitoral stimulation is like trying to keep hold of a cattle prod then trying to orgasm. It’s ever so slightly distracting, as you can imagine.

I really can’t say that all the RO-140 Soft Tips would be like this, but I have to go on what I have – and it does seem to be a feature of the particular design that it causes this level of noise. The smaller bullets (RO-80 and RO-100mm Soft Tip) don’t have this problem, not even the almost as big RO-120mm in chrome which I will review soon.

If you don’t mind the noise and vibration white hand (my advice, invest in some heavy duty headphones and padded gloves) then feel free to give this monster a go.

Conclusion

Like the rest of the Rocks Off Bullet Vibrator range, the RO-140 Soft Tip bullet vibe is completely waterproof, so I suppose you could always strap it to the side of the bath to create your very own Jacuzzi. I’m trying to be optimistic. Is it working?

It’s no good – I’m saving this one as a particularly cruel punishment for a well deserving submissive…
