The Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator arrived quickly and discreetly, in a plain, brown jiffy bag. Inside, I found the Rocks Off Bamboo (Rose Gold) wrapped in a ‘remove before display’ sleeve, which I assumed was to protect the packaging/product during transit. Removing the sleeve, I was met with the classy, minimalistic outer box of the Bamboo. It features a cut out window which shows off the vibrator in all its glory. A small gold banner at the bottom of the box reads the product name alongside the Rocks Off logo.
The back of the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator box gives some information about the product and explains its key features, it also shows you the four other colours that are available. Opening up the box, I found the Bamboo sitting inside two pieces of plastic casing, which I discovered can actually be secured together to keep the toy as secure as possible.
The Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator is made from ABS plastic, which is body-safe and a material that I’ve found can make vibrations feel more aggressive, as there’s no silicone body to dull them. As there’s no silicone on this toy, you can use any type of lubricant with it, but I prefer to use my favourite water-based. I found that silicone lubricant made this toy quite slippery and hard to keep hold of. It’s easy to clean as it’s fully waterproof, so can simply be sprayed with toy cleaner and rinsed.
I received the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator in Rose Gold, which is absolutely gorgeous and a shade that didn’t exist in my collection until now. I thought it might be heavily reflective due to its colouring, but thankfully it’s not, which made photographing it much easier! It’s a fairly lightweight toy, but feels very sturdy and I could immediately tell the build quality was good. Being made from ABS, it’s completely rigid, but this means I’m able to apply more pressure than I can with a silicone toy. It’s slightly larger than the We-Vibe Tango, but still petite and discreet enough that you could carry it around with you. It could easily be mistaken as a fancy lipstick at first glance.
I wondered how I would get along with the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator, as I have been spoilt with rumbly, powerful vibrators in recent months, but remembering my positive experience with my first Rocks Off toy a few weeks earlier, I hoped this would be a good toy, even if it wasn’t quite strong enough for me. I’d say my expectations were accurate as that’s exactly how my experience turned out to be, with a surprise or two on the way. One AAA battery is supplied with the toy, so you can use it straight away after removing the white paper disc from inside the battery compartment.
After placing the cap back into place, I pressed the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator’s singular button (which features the RO logo) on the base and the toy kicked into action. I like to get a feel of vibrations in my hand before placing them on my intimate areas, so I can get an idea of what the toy has to offer. My first thought was ‘wow, if this is the first setting, what are the others going to be like?’. It turns out that this vibrator starts on the highest setting, before going to medium, low and then the seven patterns. This confused me because I usually press the button when I want more, not less. I think this could potentially kill the mood of someone who’s trying to change functions. I would have preferred the vibrations to start from low-to-high as usual, as this just makes more sense to me.
I thought the highest setting was quite powerful for a battery operated vibrator and it’s definitely my favourite of the ten speeds. It is as buzzy as you’d expect, but strangely, I have managed to orgasm with this. In all fairness, not in my usual, explosive style, but decent enough that I felt some satisfaction. I thought it may have been a fluke or I was feeling particularly sensitive that day, but it has happened several times over the last few weeks of testing it out. The other two constant vibrations are not strong enough for me, but my partner can make use of the medium setting when holding the toy against the head of his penis. The pin point stimulation of the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator is great for him, but I did find it to be slightly numbing if held directly against the clitoris. I like to hold the vibrator against my labia majora instead.
The patterns on the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator aren’t really my thing, they’re fairly average functions and the type that you get with most battery operated vibrators. There’s some fast paced buzzing, slower pulsations and one or two fast pulsations that might have been fun if the vibrations were rumblier.
The Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator is a very quiet vibrator, definitely usable whilst other people in the house. It would make a great toy for those in shared housing, university halls or still living with parents.
Overall, I think the Rocks Off Bamboo Vibrator would make a great first vibrator. If you’ve never experienced vibration before, this might be a good place to start. For those who don’t mind buzzy vibrations or don’t need intense power to get off, this would be a worthwhile option for you too. It’s inexpensive, good quality and nicely designed. It’s not quite strong enough for me unfortunately, but it’s certainly not a bad toy. Many battery operated toys are buzzy, but not many can make me orgasm, so that makes the Rocks Off Bamboo stand out to me.
