As a lover of leather, and a believer that you can never have enough spanking products, when the Loving Joy Bound Noir Nubuck Leather Paddle with Brass Stud Detail from Loving Joy appeared on the Cara Sutra Pleasure Panel, we jumped at the chance to try it.
It arrived in very basic clear packaging. It wasn’t eye catching at all, just a functional bag to protect it. I was looking forward to a strong leather smell when I opened the package, but there was only a hint of it. This was a bit disappointing as the smell of leather is part of the experience. It does come with ‘genuine leather’ labels attached, which was a nice feature.
The paddle has a lovely solid feel, with just enough give to feel comfortable. It might be a little small, but it is definitely big enough to do the job it was made for. The cut of the handle sits comfortably and securely in the hand, with no risk of it going flying if you swing too hard. The layered leather looks good, with tidy stitching and shiny, smooth brass details. Basically, it looks good and well made, adding a touch of class to the bedroom. There is no sign of glue that would suggest the studs would fall off. There is a comforting weight to it, which also helps to give it a good swing.
This paddle is very versatile. The smooth side is perfect for beginners, those not in the mood for serious play, or just as a warm up. It is smooth, slightly soft, but gives a solid impact and a lovely sound. It can be used on the behind, back of legs, or in even more delicate areas. We used it hard and soft, fast and slow for a wide range of sensation.
When we had warmed up, we flipped the paddle over. The little brass studs bit nicely into the skin without breaking the skin. These little details double the use of it. The sensations it can produce are much more variable with these studs. Depending on your limits, you might need to be careful around the sensitive areas so as not to overwhelm.
We did find that there were a few marks on the leather after only the first use, though this should be expected as the leather is quite soft. It is a good trade off, as the soft leather is rather nice, with a bit of a decadent feel. We did give it a wipe down with some wet wipes, but this didn’t remove all of the stains. We didn’t want to get it too wet as leather can soak up water and be ruined.
Conclusion
We loved this paddle. It is versatile, stingy and sounds great! It has replaced our previous paddle as our go to large area spanking device. The leather seems high quality, it is put together well, and feel good both to wield and to receive. After we had used it for a while, there was a nice pink glow to the skin.
