Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator Review

I received a Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator in black free of charge, in exchange for my fair and honest review.

The vibrator comes in the usual Fun Factory style packaging with a front flap with magnetic closure. This allows you to open the front and view the vibrator through the clam shell moulded, internal and transparent plastic structure.

The Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator also came with an little instruction pamphlet and a sachet of promo lube. I have a full size bottle of this lubricant which I will review separately.

Taking a look over the package, I read the back and was surprised to see that the Maxi vibe is ‘splashproof’. I am intrigued by this – not waterproof – splashproof. Good job I take plenty of showers instead of baths, I guess.

After trying the Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator out in the shower, twice, it did still work afterwards which quite surprised me. I am always worried I will end up with a broken sex toy, even with fully waterproof ones – just some remnant of fear, taking an electronic device into water & expecting it to carry on working. Perhaps Apple have trained me too well. ~muses~

Unlike some other vibrators in the Fun Factory range, this Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator takes batteries – it isn’t rechargeable. Although having to use batteries is a bit of a pain and you end up spending money on yet more batteries, I was quite glad I didn’t have to already own a Fun Factory Click n Charge magnetic charger, which is what you must have in order to charge up their rechargeable range. I don’t have a Fun Factory rechargeable toy yet, I am hoping to get a Cobra Libre someday, the other half is desperate for it (the toy, too)!

Power Info

Getting back to the vibe in hand, you need to insert 2 x AA batteries (not included) in the space provided when you take the end cap off. This was my first problem with the Maxi Vibrator, I can’t remove the cap. Really. I need help. With removing the cap, too.

There are instructions provided for removing the cap but I just can’t get a handle on it. No pun intended. Perhaps it’s just one of those things. Like needing help opening jars. You need to press the sides and pull, all at the same time. I don’t know. Anyway, luckily I have people around to help.

Measurements:

The Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator is 8 inches in overall length, with an insertable length of 6 inches. The tip is slightly angled and tapered, so that the min circumference of the shaft is 3.9 inches while the max circumference around the bottom part of the shaft is 5.2 inches.

Materials:

This vibrator is made with a silicone shaft which is supremely bendy and flexible, it doesn’t have a rigid centre like some other vibrators. The vibrations travel up through the body from a motor in the base. The handle/cap/control dial are made from a durable plastic material.

Once you connect the cap back into position after inserting batteries, the connection is strong and the cap is in no danger of coming loose even in your most rampant moments.

Functions and Controls

The Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator does not have buttons like I am used to on the bottom of vibes. Instead of press or touch buttons there is a plastic concave dial, with a raised pattern which can only be described as a ‘splat.’

In order to power up the vibrator, you need to turn this dial either left or right from where it begins. The arrow you can faintly see above the dial shows you where the central ‘locking’ position is.

Turn the dial from 0 to 180 degrees either left or right to discover vibration intensity through the Maxi’s spectrum of low to high. at 180 degrees it will click into position at its highest intensity. Keep turning another 180 degrees (or dial back) to lower the intensity all the way back to the off position.

I must be honest and say I am not a fan of how the vibrations are controlled on the Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator. It is fine while you’re holding the vibe in your hand, to find out what it’s capable of, but once nestled deep within you, you’re trying to hold it in place with one hand and turn the click-slide rounded dial with the other. Add in the prospect of lube and it all gets very messy and frustrating.

On top of the annoying way it is controlled, I must say also that the highest vibration intensity just didn’t hit my spot. The shaft is a very lovely, supple silicone material, and the angled tip is a nice touch, but if there was an additional motor near the tip as well as just in the bottom, it would make all the difference.

In order to orgasm with this vibe, I need to add in a clit bullet or something similar to tip me over the edge. However, you may love this vibrator if penetrative sex action gets you going, or if you dislike really strong vibrations. The shape and length is certainly very fulfilling.

Summary

In summary, this is a great idea for a vibrator, with a graduated, stimulating contoured shaft and angled tip for G-spot location and stimulation. However, the Fun Factory FUNTOY Maxi Vibrator design needs sending back to the drawing board in my opinion, to redesign the base in terms of battery compartment cap and control buttons, as well as the possibility of another motor within the vibe to ramp up the power to an actually orgasmic level.
