I’ve never reviewed lingerie for Cara Sutra’s sex blog before and despite volunteering I was a little apprehensive when I was chosen. Not about the underwear itself but of taking photos in it and putting my less than perfect body out there. Luckily Cara to the rescue and she promised us shy lingerie reviewers that there was no need for us to show off our bums to the world *phew*
The packaging on the Cottelli Collection Lace Caged Bra and Panty Set is a little explicit. The model looks stunningly seductive in the bra and panties on the front and rear of the box but there is also a picture showing the bra cup open with a lot of nipple which I felt made the packaging a little tacky.
First impressions and Fit
The Caged Bra is halter necked and with its super strappy matching G-string gives a bondage style look. I’m naturally submissive but my Mr loves me in bondage wear so we were excited to try a new brand.
Made in the Turkey, this lingerie set is 100% Polyamide (nylon). This isn’t the most luxurious material and unfortunately this does show in the lingerie. The lace is quite tough; it feels almost like plastic netting and has very little give.
On the other hand the strappy, bondage effect on the g-string is extremely stretchy elastic. I tested the large Cottelli Collection Lace Caged Bra and Panty Set and as a size 14 bottom/16 top thong was slightly too big for me. With the level of elasticity I think the thong could easily accommodate up to a size 20. Online I’ve seen shops state that the large size is 16-18 but the label on this lingerie set shows GB 18-20.
Speaking of the labels, yuck! These are huge and white; you definitely need to remove them before wearing and they’re very well stitched in so you’ll need scissors. The information on these could easily have been added to the box instead.
The caged bra is quite snug across my back, I’m quite broad normally wearing a 38C but I doubt this would fit a sized 20 lady or even a size 18 comfortably. None of the bra straps are adjustable but they are quite stretchy though not as stretchy as the thong.
How I Felt
The Cottelli Collection Lace Caged Bra and Panty Set did look quite good initially but not once I started moving in it.
There is no boning or padding in the bra so this offers very little support or shaping. Also, the super stretchy straps meant it was difficult to keep the lingerie in place during sex. The double strap on the thong kept bunching together and the bra kept spinning around.
I was a little confused by the Cottelli thong being crotchless, the triangular hole is tiny! It’s just under an inch on each side and was far too small for my partner’s penis and would have chafed quite badly had he stretched the thong around it. The lace on the thong is an open/cross over design so already offers easy access to the wearers vulva so I didn’t see the point in having an additional, albeit too small to be of any use, crotch opening too.
The bra has an opening cup which Cottelli describe as a flap. I’m not sure this is the sexiest description and the style of opening actually reminded me of nursing bras! And when open the cups really did flap, lace spaniels ears on your belly is not a good look.
The clear plastic hook fastener on the bra cup along with the snap fastening on the back of the bra are very cheap looking and stand out quite badly. These would have better looking in black and preferable metal to prevent them breaking with use.
In Conclusion
I struggled to feel sexy in the Cottelli Collection Lace Caged Bra and Panty Set. I loved the look of the lingerie on the model but unfortunately the quality of the materials really let this set down. I doubt I’ll wear it again and would probably avoid Cottelli Collection if this set is indicative of their standards.
