It’s pretty hard to ignore the existence of the Fleshlight for anyone who has ever been on the internet. Their marketing campaign is pretty full on and its name has become widespread even if not discussed in public very often. Scepticism of its claims is pretty understandable as a result. I mean, when does anything advertised on the internet ever live up to its claims? I’m still waiting to hear back from that financially troubled foreign Prince.

My experience with male masturbation toys is pretty limited. I have used a TENGA Egg before and thought it was pretty good, but nothing to go crazy about. Never one to turn down the opportunity to stick my dick in something though, I jumped at the chance of using the cultural meme that is the Fleshlight.

Seeing one in real life, the first thing that struck me about the Fleshlight STU Masturbator is the size. The model I was given was gold coloured and looks like it could be taken straight out of the box and placed on my trophy shelf alongside my many awards (they still count if you buy them for yourself right?). Once removed from the packaging the first thing I did was start pulling it apart, of course. One end reveals the prosthetic lady bits, and the other can unscrew in order to increase or decrease the vacuum effect when put to use.
You have to remove the innards for cleaning and preparation purposes and that is when the second thing hit me. Outside of the casing the innards look like a cows tongue and are wonderfully stretchy and springy. So of course me and my partner did what anyone would do with such an item, and slapped each other around the face with it.
The claim is that the skin texture is more realistic than ever, a slap around the face may not be the best way to tell. It is cold to the touch and leaves a oily residue behind, but that doesn’t feel like it would be a concern in the moment when you are fucking an Oscar statuette.
The instructions recommend warming the fleshy bit of the Fleshlight STU Masturbator in water before use, but being quite a fan of temperature play, I decided to give it a go as is and see what happens. The box comes with a little sachet of lube, but rather than spend time fiddling around trying to squeeze every drop from that, I just grabbed some from my underbed chemistry set. Water based lube has to be used to avoid eating away at the material, and the first one I found was a cookie flavoured, so at least my fingerstasted nice too.
Apparently this model is a ‘Stamina Training Unit’ and the proclamation on the back of the box states that if you “ last 10 minutes with this, you’ll last 20 minutes with any woman”. So a quick flick through YouPorn for a video with a running time of over 10 minutes and my training session was underway.
I am happy to say I was very pleasantly surprised by the Fleshlight STU Masturbator. It is pretty fucking great. Unlike going au-natural you can really bring the pace down, and adjusting the suction using the end cap really makes a difference to the experience. You can keep the vacuum on full and control the movement with purposeful force or loosen the end and build up momentum. Its size works well too, having to use both hands means you can use your arms and hips to add an extra layer of control and, dare I say, realism to the experience.
Different models have different textures on the inside, mine coming with quite a generic looking spherical bobble pattern, and I was impressed by just how much you could feel it. I am curious to know how the other textures would make a difference to the experience.
Cleaning was easy enough; just rinse it out in the sink with warm water. This did also provide another opportunity to satisfy my immature sense of humour. Pinching the shaft and watching the malleable material swell like a water balloon before letting it all expel from the realistically crafted business end.
For the sensation I would recommend the Fleshlight Stamina Training unit for sure. It is without doubt the closest masturbation has ever felt to real sex. I have a few little niggles but they are more to with the practicality and my own personal preferences than the functionality. I find the meticulously moulded labia and friends to be pretty pointless. There are no illusions as to what you are really doing when you’ve got yourself inches deep in a gold sprayed Pringles can.
Also the preparation and clean-up has found me passing over the thought of it during my solitary horny moments since, simply due to the convenience. It isn’t something you can just reach for and forget about afterwards and it’ll be interesting to see if it gets much more use and can justify its pretty lofty price tag. Also, the ‘stamina training’ aspect feels like a flimsy excuse for a wank, and who really needs an excuse for that. I lasted more than ten minutes but maybe I’m just patient and enjoy the slower moments more than some. Whether it would actually have some long term effects I don’t know, maybe I’ll just have to take up a more intense training regime.
Overall I give the Fleshlight STU Masturbator an 8/10. It’s a great bit of kit and if you’re curious about trying a Fleshlight, you’re not likely to be disappointed by the experience if you go with this model.
