Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil Review

My review of the Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil from the 50 Shades Sensual Care Collection

By now you should know that I have been reviewing a few items from the Sensual Care Collection. This is an offshoot of the Official Fifty Shades of Grey sex toys collection, inspired by the kink spiced romantic novels by award winning author EL James.

I was sent various items from the Fifty Shades Of Grey Sensual Care Collection free of charge in exchange for my fair and honest review. What follows is my review of the Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil.

Packaging & Presentation

Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil ReviewThis Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil is presented in a similar way to the Bath Oil and Aqua Lubricant. it comes in the glossy cardboard outer box, which features the brand signature colours and design. Inside the box you get the flip top dispenser bottle of massage oil, which contains 100ml of oil for your shared pleasure. There is also a little information leaflet.

Ingredients

The ingredients of this massage oil are:

Vitis Vinifera (Grape) Seed Oil, Simmondsia Chinensis Seed Oil (Jojoba oil), Borago Officinalis Seed Oil (Star Flower Oil), Parfum, Crambe Abyssinica Seed Oil, Butyl Phenyl Methylpropional, Limonene, Alpha Iso Methyl Ionone, Linalool, Coumarin, Evernia Prunastri (Oakmoss), Citral.

First Impressions

The oil is dispensed by gently squeezing the bottle, after depressing one side of the flip top. I was surprised how runny this oil is, I was expecting it to be thicker in feel. Nevertheless, I dutifully set it aside until I could try it out with my partner properly.

Once we had time to get down and dirty, I mean relaxed and sensual, I was curious to see what this massage oil would be like. I usually prefer to use a cream if not the Jimmyjane Afterglow Massage Candles (they are fantastic for setting the scene and for erotic massage) but I’m always open to new products. Oil can be so slick against the skin, which I know is the point, but it can leave me itching and just wanting a scrub in a hot bath or shower to get clean again.

Might be just me.

During Use

I dispensed some of the Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil into my hand instead of directly on to him; I didn’t want to risk it splashing everywhere, especially as it’s oil and I had already discovered this oil wasn’t as thick and gloopy as I was expecting. The smell of it pervaded my senses once again; the sandalwood and musk which is meant to be a representation of the scent of Christian Grey himself. I do like the scent which is the theme in the collection. I’ve said it before, but it is reminiscent of that smartly suited, mysterious stranger that captures your interest from your first scent of him as he walks by.

Even I could tell, applying it to him, that this oil has a gentle warming effect. After massaging him he said it did feel nice but he had to jump in the shower, it just itched with him laid there. It doesn’t get completely absorbed by the skin, being oil, so there is always going to be some slickness left over. It’s great during the massage but both of us couldn’t lay and relax after using it. We had to have a shower straight after our session which was great in one way (very hot) but in another, it’s not usually what you want to be doing right after a massage is it – jumping up to clean off the residue.

There were no adverse reactions on either of us, to the ingredients in the oil, other than the slick feeling on the skin after use and the slight itching. This is why I never used Johnson’s baby oil for anything sexual – even back in the day! This massage oil cannot be used with condoms either, so you know. It could damage the material, so steer clear if you’re a condom user and want the massage to lead to sex.

Summary

Do I like the Fifty Shades of Grey Sensual Touch Massage Oil? In theory, yes. On my shelf, yes. On my skin, no. Sorry. Would I recommend it? Only for people who don’t have a distaste for residue of products on their skin after use, unlike me.
