Durex Play Feel Lube Review

By CaptainMeow

First off, I’d like to thank Cara for sending me this lubricant to try in exchange for my honest review. The Durex Play Feel Lube is part of the Durex Play range and comes without any fancy packaging.

It is meant to be a new formula, but neither this nor the older bottle come with ingredients listed and Durex did not list ingredients on their website.

A quick Google search lists these as the ingredients: Purified Water, Propylene Glycol, Hydroxyethylcellulose, Benzoic Acid, Sodium Hydroxide.

As far as I can tell, it looks to be the same as the old formula, although obviously I am not privy to changes in composition. Its description online claims that it contains “a specially formulated blend of ingredients which will enhance touch between you and your partner”. Let’s see how true this is!

Durex Play Feel Lube Review

The bottle of Durex Play Feel Water Based Lube I received was a 50ml bottle, although it is possible to obtain ones in 60ml and 100ml bottles. It is designed with a twist and pump top, thus preventing unwanted leaks or accidental pumps with the cap off. I found it easy to use and one pump produces tiny globules of just the right amount of lube. It is a water-based lube, hence very versatile and can be used vaginally and with condoms and silicone toys.

Durex Play Feel Lube Review

Durex calls the Durex Play Feel a “light, silky lube”, and I concur. It is not too runny or too thick, very smooth and slick to the touch. When I tested it, I did find that I needed more than one pump to make things slick enough and get things going. It was not sticky during use and lasted about 30-45 minutes before I needed to reapply. It’s not the longest lasting lube, but I’d say it’s pretty decent as water-based lubes generally do not last as long as silicone or oil-based lubes. But bear in mind that silicone and oil-based lubricants cannot be used with all sex toy and condom materials.

Durex Play Feel Lube Review

While it has no odour, I would not personally recommend this for oral. It tastes a little like bitter glue although it is slightly diminished when rubbed on skin. I’m not sure what Durex meant when they said this would enhance touch, but I did not notice any increased sensations or pleasure from the lubricant during play. It did what a lube should do and there was certainly an excellent barrier against friction, but did not add anything else for me. One thing I did not like with the Durex Play Feel Lube is that it left behind a sticky residue after play. It felt a little like a very thin layer of glue on my fingers that is very easily washed off with warm water.

Durex Play Feel Lube Review

When compared to the older formula, I did not notice much difference. The taste seemed more pronounced in the new formula, but this is obviously not an objective test. I also did not have any sticky residue with the older formula. Other than that, they both felt as silky smooth and did the job well.  Both lasted for an adequate amount of time and did not give me any reactions. All in all, the Durex Play Feel Lube is a pretty good lubricant that is suitable for various kinds of play and is gentle to your skin. If you’re looking for a fuss-free lubricant, this might be it!
