Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker Review (Black)
By Pleasure Panel reviewer KurosakiKun
Lately I seem to have been inundated with vibrating penis-centric strokers, the latest, the Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker from Bondara piqued my interest with the addition of a rather powerful looking suction base, will this be the ultimate in hands-free orgasm? First looks are promising and whilst awaiting delivery I had already made my mind up where it was getting hung for its first use and which other places and positions I could get into!
The Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker arrives in a rather LARGE box, which is over a foot long and is emblazoned with all sorts of imagery, slogans, uses, arrows, bullet points, quotes etc etc, which could send anyone into sensory overload! The most fascinating part is splashed across the front and states that there are “30 Intense Power Functions” which seem an awful lot, this is the first stroker I’ve had with over 20 vibration programmes!
On the back of the box we are told it is body safe, body safe and phthalate free, which is always good for peace of mind. The rear of the box also lets us know it is Swedish Erotica, by California Exotic Novelties in Ontario (Canada) which is made in China… get your head around that!
Inside the box, there are four parts to the Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker which are all wrapped up safely in plastic; there is the stroker, battery pack, suction pad and screw cap. Also amongst the packaging is the instruction guide which when unfolded is HUGE! It is a generic instruction guide which covers a whole host of Cal Exotics toys so has no really specific information about this particular product.
Material & Measurements
The Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker is made up of two different materials, TPR for the sleeve which your manhood will come into contact with and ABD plastic for the cast which the sleeve is contained in.
The insertion point of the stroker is a textured sleeve which has 9cm of insertable length and is 5cm wide at the opening and around 2cm at its deepest. The stroker itself is 21cm overall without the suction base and is 30cm including the base. The suction base is nice and large at 9cm diameter it has a great area for attaching to your preferred surface.
After excitedly ripping open the packaging and starting to put everything together, I found attaching the battery pack easy enough (which takes 4 AA batteries, shame it isn’t rechargeable). There are two metal contacts which show you exactly which way it needs to be inserted. Then screwing the power stroker to the suction base and slapping it waist height onto the shower wall I was all ready to go, a generous dollop of water based lube is always a good idea to get everything friction free and super slippery!
Swiftly into action, controlling the Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker is simple enough, there are two buttons; and on/off button and an ‘advance’ button which scrolls you through the 30 different vibrations. You can only advance the vibrations, so if you accidentally go past the vibration you like, you have to skip through 29 other before you get back to the one you liked.
I found the vibrations to be pretty tame in all honesty, there is a huge bulge inside the opening which is meant to represent a tongue and all the vibration is here, I’m assuming where the only motor is. As all the vibration is here, you can only get vibration to one part of the penis at a time and as the vibrations are not very strong, you cannot feel the vibrations in any other part of the sleeve. The other major downfall is that the tongue is so stiff and the opening so small further in that an erection will not fit inside, so any thrusting will just end up in bumping constantly against a hard surface. Not much fun!
The 180 degree swivel suction cup is the brilliant feature of the Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker; you can mount the huge suction cup on any smooth surface and move the swivel to a number of preset angles. I’ve had it on the floor, on the shower wall, on a bunch top so it was entirely horizontal, the possibilities are many!
Although the vibrations are not massively strong, it will do the job (of inducing orgasm) and can literally be the laziest orgasm you ever have. You can just stand still in the shower and orgasm by doing nothing but pressing a button, brilliant! I thought the fact it has 30 functions would be amazing, but unfortunately, it has 3 speeds and 27 patterns.
I am not much of a pattern person on most toys unless they are super intense and most of these patterns are VERY similar to each other. I skipped most then just turned it off and back on which takes you back to the slowest speed to get myself off.
Orgasms experienced while using the Cal Exotics Apollo Vibrating Power Stroker have been ok, nothing explosive but it will get you there. I preferred to find a sweet spot with the most vibration on the underside of the head of the penis and use the strongest speed to stimulate it constantly. I’m not sure if the unit is water proof but it seems to be pretty much sealed tight against water damage so cleaning is easy with some warm soapy water and allowed to drip dry. You can stick it pointing to the floor from a shower wall after washing as well to really let it drip dry, genius!
Big price tag for a Power Stroker that is a bit timid for me, but maybe I’ve been spoilt by high end vibrators. The suction cup and swivel arm are brilliant, but it would have been improved with a rechargeable battery. 5 out of 10 for me. Now I need to see if there are any attachments that will screw onto this suction cup…
