Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator Review

By CaptainMeow

I’ll be honest: purchasing this toy was an accident. I had intended to pick up a different one, but accidentally got the Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator instead because it was in Lovehoney’s 2 for £25 offer.  I realised after I had checked out but decided to try it anyway, and for a battery-operated toy it’s pretty good, and I’m happy to report on it!

Product specifications:

The Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator is meant to be the newer model of the Lovehoney Basics Pocket Vibrator, hence it is more powerful with more features. It runs on 1x AA battery which is sold separately so if you’re ordering this, just pop some in your Lovehoney basket (although it’s likely you already have some lying around at home). I recommend using fresh, good quality batteries in this to enjoy its full potential. It is quite petite at just 5 inches in length and is made of plastic, so it is body-safe. It is also waterproof, so it is suitable for some shower play and cleaning it is a matter of running it under the tap. Just be sure that the base is screwed on snugly.

The Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator is a fully external pocket vibrator and has three steel beads set on the top of the vibrator to sit snugly around the clitoris or anywhere else you fancy! Just be aware that this is not designed for internal use. The metal beads are made of copper with nickel-free electroplating, so no worries about nickel allergies here.  It is made from rigid plastic with a body that comes apart at the middle so you can put the battery in. To turn it on, you need to twist it to the ‘on’ position, then press the button located at the end to start cycling through the different speeds and patterns. There are 3 speeds in increasing intensity and 7 patterns, lots more options than I would expect of a toy like this.

First impressions:

The Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator packaging is simple and arrived in the usual discreet brown box so housemates and the postman don’t know what you ordered. I got mine in black as I am not a fan of incredibly girly designs, but there is also a pink option. It came with clear instructions on how to insert the battery and get started, along with suggestions on how to use this toy alone and with a partner. I especially liked that it included ideas for using it on a man – it might be mainly marketed as a clitoral toy, but some men like their vibrations too! It seemed pretty well made and did not feel like a fragile toy.

Using the toy:

As always, I tried out the various speeds and patterns in my hand first and found that it while they vibrations aren’t earth-shattering, they are pretty good for a toy operated by just one AA battery. I was expecting something a lot weaker and was pleasantly surprised. Lovehoney calls this toy quiet, and I would concur. It is not the most silent out there and at the highest speed it does get slightly louder and more high-pitched, but it was still quiet enough to use with others in the house. There are also no rattling batteries to worry about as the single battery sits quite snugly. Just be sure to keep the room door closed and you should be set! Throwing a duvet on or turning on some music might help too if you are still worried about noise.

I’ve never used a pocket rocket before and frankly, it took me a bit of time to position it just around my clitoris. I also did find that I had to occasionally check positioning if I moved around too much, but that’s just me needing to get more acquainted with myself! When playing with a partner, I take the easy way out and just have him use the Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator on me. You do have to hold it almost perpendicular to your body if you’re aiming for the three metal beads to sit around your clitoral area, so it might not be the best if your hands tend to cramp up or are stiff. Again, a partner might prove handy here. The first two settings are somewhere between buzzy and rumbly, and the intensity (for me) is great for use when I’m not quite so warmed up yet, or even on other parts of my body where I tend to prefer milder vibrations. The highest speed gets somewhat buzzier but I don’t find it off-putting and can quite happily stay there for a while, if not for the patterns. Oh, the patterns.

I sometimes find patterns in vibrators quite annoying, but ones on the Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator seem really well thought-out. Of the 7 patterns, I loved 4 of them and had to fight the urge to skip right past the speeds and get to them. If only there was a plus and minus button! I think I would gladly rotate between the four patterns for a long time. Some vibrators ramp up the speed too quickly in the patterns or just have really distracting ones, but the ones here are done really well. There are patterns that allow for gradual buildup and those that provide more intensity. My only gripe here is that I find myself wanting stronger vibrations at the later stages, but I can easily reach into my toy box and pick up something with stronger vibrations to finish the job.

I should also mention that I did not find I needed much lube when using the Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator, but if you would prefer to use lubrication, Lovehoney recommends a water-based lube. I did try using it with more lube just to see if it would affect function and personally had no difficulty holding on to it or switching speeds and patterns.  It was somewhat tricky trying to get enough of a grip on it to twist the base, but you do not need to do that whilst in play, so it does not present a problem. When cleaning, it helped that the toy is waterproof as I found the little grooves at the end of the toy and around the metal balls difficult to thoroughly clean without an old toothbrush and running water. It also has an ‘off’ setting which means you can safely pop it in your bag and bring it on travels without worrying that it will accidentally turn on.

Summary:

I would recommend this Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator to those who are more sensitive and prefer milder vibrations or are looking for a warm-up toy. It has many well thought out features and is good for trying out different speeds and settings. So if you are looking for a first toy, are not quite sure what you want, or simply would like to experiment, I would give this a go. I personally have been spoiled by the stronger vibrations of the We-Vibe Tango, but I don’t expect a battery-operated toy to match a rechargeable one.  If you are thinking of buying the Lovehoney Erotic Rocket Clitoral Vibrator and are still uncertain, unless you specifically want a powerhouse, I would give it a go.

Pros: Affordable, good range of speeds and patterns, good quality, waterproof, quiet, good warm up toy, has an ‘off’ setting so no risk of accidentally turning it on

Cons: Not powerful (but it is battery operated)

Materials: Body: plastic; Metal beads: copper with nickel-free plating

Price: £14.99

Rating: 7/10
