By Lily Palmer: Erotica is one of the most difficult genres to write, in my opinion anyway. Erotic short stories are even trickier. Imagine having to write a background story, fully developed characters and a sex scene that is arousing to most of your readers.
By Eliza93Marie: I was sent an electronic copy of Confessions by LM Mountford by Cara Sutra free of charge in exchange for an honest and unbiased review for Cara Sutra's Pleasure Panel.
By Poppycat22 I was really pleased to be sent The Devil's Doorbell - An Erotic Anthology to read and review for the Pleasure Panel. The Devil's Doorbell - An Erotic Anthology Book Megan Hart Pleasure Panel ReviewI was sent the e-book version which was really great because it lived in my phone, which never leaves my side and meant it was always on hand to have a quick read.
By Angel R Rivera / gypsylibrarian Got a little erotica reading done recently with Penthouse Variations on Oral. This volume is by the editors of Penthouse Variations. Now, I will admit that I have not read Penthouse or Penthouse Variations for some time, a deficit I need to remedy down the road. I do enjoy erotic tales featuring oral sex, so I looked forward to reading this new volume. I have to say that this collaboration with Cleis Press was a pleasant reading experience.
By McBitchyTits: Firstly let me thank Cara Sutra for letting me review Sweet Temptations: The Babysitter by LM Mountford (aka Dark Inferno) for her website. Sadly I really wanted to like this book but I just can’t.
By Mel Macfarlane, Voluptasse My favourite story was First Impressions. This story was quite poignant and details Sandra Fletcher‘s anger and frustration at a cruel and uncaring world. She meets a friendly woman called Gillian at the train station. They swap numbers and embark upon a friendship which awakens a side of Sandra that she had smothered because of a tragic and painful past. This story left me feeling excited for the character because she desperately needed a new beginning and I felt so involved with her that I wanted things to improve, and they certainly do.
By A Winter The Big Book of Submission boasts a meaty 69 stories (I wonder why they chose that number!). Even though they are shorts, with some feeling more along the lines of flash fiction, it is a vast amount and it'll be hard for you to go through it and not find something you like. You will in fact find a little bit of everything. Straight, lesbian and gay sex, along with both male and female submission. I enjoyed reading many of the shorts in this book because it was just so easy. I could read one when I had five or ten minutes (think waiting for the bathroom to be free or for water to boil) but there are several things that could have been improved.
By G String Here's the best bit I love about this book, not only is it fantastic to quench your curiosity with lots of answers, but snuggled in the middle of each chapter is a naughty little erotic story detailing the activity in practice that's sure to really get the inspiration going.. I think this book would be fantastic for someone who's curiosity is hindered by their lack of knowledge but also for someone searching for some ideas as to what they can try next.
By Fesure Maybe Thank you to regular Cara Sutra reviewer FesureMaybe for this review of Can't Get Enough by Tenille Brown. This erotic book was kindly sent free of charge in exchange for a fair and honest review by Cleis Press. If you'd like to own a copy of Can't Get Enough for yourself, you can purchase it from the links shown below, or you have a chance to win a free copy in the competition I am running at the moment (along with a sneak peek at a free excerpt). By Dizzy Wizzy Slave Girls as a title conjures up thoughts of submissive women, willing and happy to do just about anything simply to please their dominant (male or female) however, something that comes across very strongly is the fact that the submissives have their very own sense of power and control, in so far as they are able to use safewords in the event that the activities become too much for them to bear.
By A Winter To many the idea of having to make time and schedule in sex is a turn-off. I know it can have that effect on me more often than not, but when we manage to overcome that and get in right frame of mind it can be some of the best sex in a long time. This is the idea the anthology leaves me with and it hits close to home. The characters are so believable in those stories that could have been boring - not unusual and exciting enough - but they prove we don’t need extremes. These, coupled with the more unexpected and novel stories give huge variety.
I recently finished reading this gay erotic anthology, and I found it to be average in terms of the story quality and the building up in details. One issue for me was in development. I found that some of the stories could have been developed to be a bit longer, add a bit more to them to make them a bit more lush or a bit more alluring.
By Minxy Mischief I like nothing better than a good naughty read but often I feel let down, not raunchy enough or it just isn't just quite my thing. Being a lover of bondage myself I was hoping that this book would hit the spot! Expecting the usual, I put my book in my bag and started reading it on the way into town. I didn't expect the book to get right into the nitty gritty straight away. I was so wrong! I sat there squirming, hoping that no one would notice. I couldn't help but keep reading! Rope Dancer by Kathleen Tudor was right up my street! I couldn't help but imagine the feeling of the rope, I was totally lost in the story. I knew from the first story that I would really enjoy it and I did.
By Danae Another favourite of mine is Normal by Charlotte Stein. It reads as a confession from a wife, who has gotten into the habit of sexually dominating her husband, as she is discovering how dominant she can be and how submissive her husband can be to her. She is still in the process of coming to terms with that side of herself and of their relationship, and in this regard her thoughts are both interesting and downright hot. Her inner discourse plays an almost informative role in the workings of dom/sub relationships, without ever feeling like an educative guide. Stein’s writing talent is obvious, and this piece turned me on from beginning to end.
By Voluptasse: I really enjoyed the Gratis: Midwinter Tales and high hopes for the next book, the Gratis New Beginnings Erotic Anthology. The second collection from the Gratis Series brings you some familiar writers but includes a sprinkling of new faces to give the series a fresh and exciting feel.
By Dizzy Wizzy Having been sent "Flying High" to review by the wonderful Cara Sutra, I couldn't wait to become engrossed by the many stories contained within this collection. With nearly 20 short stories to whet your appetite, all displaying various interpretations of the Mile High Club, the fantasies range from solo encounters and one night stands all the way through to group fun and voyeuristic pleasures.
By Latex Gimp The majority of the stories in Lust in Latex: Rubber Sex Stories are easy to digest in short bursts, and all involve some sort of steamy romance. For people who need a quick fix, these story collections are the way to go. The theme of this particular book collection is “rubber,” and this also includes latex, PVC clothing and the like. The collection features people who prefer to dress differently, act differently, and just be plain sexy.
By Jilly Boyd I do love me a cowboy. The thought of a handsome, muscular and stubbly cowpoke, Stetson on his head, faded jeans and check shirt... it's enough to make any dame reach for the nearest fan. Luckily, Delilah Devlin has just the anthology for those amongst us who want to ride towards the sunset with a hot rancher.
By Jilly Boyd Delilah Devlin is one of those editors that manages to effortlessly tap into my fantasies. And she's certainly done so with High Octane Heroes, a delicious anthology full of stories featuring red-blooded hunks both in and out of uniform. I'm not normally a fan of big Alpha-type leading males in my erotica, but these stories may go a long way in making me change my mind...
By Lisa Etherson When I got given this book to review, my heart sank as short stories have to be my most despised form of writing, but actually for erotica, it would appear it’s just right. The stories in this book are brilliantly written, as they should be. Just because the writing is about sex and sexuality, doesn’t mean we should compromise on the literal content.
