Swiss Navy Silicone Lubes Review

I received quite a few bottles of Swiss Navy Silicone Lubes to send to reviewers as part of a recent Pleasure Panel round. Theyโ€™re from Clonezone and come in the cutest teensy bottles. After hearing mixed reports from reviewers trying these Swiss Navy Silicone Lubricants, I wanted to give them a try for myself.

Packaging & First Impressions

Swiss Navy Silicone Lubes Review

Like I say, the Swiss Navy silicone lubes bottles really are very cute. The Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube is in a clear, squarish bottle (20ml) and the Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube is in an almost-but-not-quite-opaque black bottle (1fl oz/29.5ml).

I was extremely relieved to find that the bottles all have a removable seal under the lids; this keeps the contents in the bottles during transit to you (as opposed to coating theย inside of theย envelope).

Ingredients

Silicone, silicone, silicone. Thatโ€™s what youโ€™d expect with two types of silicone lube, right? Actually, the Swiss Navy silicone lubes formulationsย have one noticeable difference.

The Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube contains Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Tocopheryl Acetate

โ€ฆwhile the Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube contains Cyclopentasiloxane, Dimethicone, Eugenia Caryophyllus (Clove) Flower Oil, Tocopheryl Acetate.

The titles give some clue as to the reasons behind the difference, the addition of clove oil. The first lube I mention simply says premium silicone lube whereas the second is described as an anal-specific lube.

Scent & Viscosity

While the Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube doesnโ€™t really smell of much, the Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube really does. Oh. My. God. Clove ahoy! If you donโ€™t like the scent of cloves, if it reminds you of tummy aches, toothache, dentists or even just the dreary task of cleaning out your kitchen cupboardsโ€ฆ avoid this lube. The smell of cloves was almost overwhelming when I took off the lid and had a sniff.

As for the viscosityโ€ฆ these lubes really surprised me with how thin they are. However in time I realised thatโ€™s because Iโ€™d been labelling them both as anal-specific lubricants in my head. In actual fact, the Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube is a perfectly decent silicone lube. The Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube, on the other hand, I feel I canโ€™t recommend in good faith. For an anal-specific lube itโ€™s really far too thin to stay where itโ€™s meant to and do a good job.

During Use

Although the Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube did what it said on the small bottle โ€“ acted like silicone lube does โ€“ it was still pretty thin. Thatโ€™s even allowing for the fact that this lube doesnโ€™t say itโ€™s for anal use. It just dribblesย off wherever you try to put it: fingers, body, toys etc. Iโ€™m also not the biggest fan of silicone lubes anyway, finding the fact that theyโ€™re difficult to wash off afterwards, and their incompatibility with some of my favourite sex toys, rather off-putting.

The Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube was worseโ€ฆ the overpowering smell of cloves was even more libido-quenching than the silicone slick left on my skin that irritates me so much. Added to which, the desensitising properties that I assume are the reason for adding cloves in the ingredients didnโ€™t seem to work all that well. Granted, there was a slight coolness when using this lube anally โ€“ but the thinness of the liquid, the lack of viscosity meant little cushioning when using anal sex toys or having anal sex.

Would I recommend?

This is a tough one, because the Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube is okayyy but I’m really disappointed inย the Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube. Iโ€™m not saying the Swiss Navy Premium Silicone Lube is the absolute best silicone lube out there, but it does the job (if youโ€™re not afterย a thick anal lube) and didnโ€™t pose any issues for me personally. Besides my personal preference for a water-based lube instead, that is.

The Swiss Navy Silicone Anal Lube is simply too thin as an anal-specific lube and on top of that, it really stinks of cloves. So much so that itโ€™s really off-putting for me during use.

Summary

If youโ€™re after a great deal on some travel-friendly, nicely packaged silicone lubes then head over to Clonezone and take advantage of their Swiss Navy Lubes deal. You can get 6 of either or 3 of each for ยฃ9.99 at the time of writing.

However, if youโ€™re a bit more picky about your lubes/you donโ€™t like thin silicone lubes/youโ€™re really looking for a thick and gloopy anal lube that stays where you put it โ€“ Iโ€™d advise steering clear of Swiss Navy silicone lubes. There are so much better ones available.

Thanks for sending these lubes for review, Clonezone.
