Pjur Aqua Waterbased Lubricant (30ml) Review
By Pleasure Panel reviewer Tim Cash
We tested Pjur Aqua Waterbased Lubricant for the Cara Sutra Pleasure Panel. We always use water based lube, due to it being so versatile, and not being a risk to our precious silicone toys. This lubricant is significantly more pricey than our usual lubricant, so we had high hopes for it.
When it arrived, the first thing that occurred to us was how small it is. Compared to our usual brand, that we purchase in 250ml bottles, this 30ml bottle of Pjur Aqua Waterbased Lubricant did not look like it would last long.
The packaging was very nice, a very simple design with claims of long lasting slipperiness, non-greasiness and protection of skin and mucus membrane. The writing is rather tiny and hard to read, but that is to be expected on such a small bottle.
With the outer wrapper removed, the bottle feels of good quality, opening easily to be able to squeeze it out. It would be better to not have to use two hands for this, as sometimes you just don’t have two spare hands. A top that clicks open could work better, especially as if you lose the screw top, it is not going to be possible to stop the lubricant leaking out.
I did squeeze out a small amount of Pjur Aqua Waterbased Lubricant onto my finger, and it seemed very smooth and non-tacky. It didn’t have a strong smell, and it does not taste offensive. I wouldn’t recommend drinking it, but if you need to put something in your mouth with it on, you would not notice it too much at all. The lubricant is completely clear, which I do generally prefer. I spread some on my inner elbow, and my girlfriend’s inner elbow, and gave it some time, to check for any reactions. My girlfriend has a few allergies, and she did not get any reaction to this test spot. The claim of being dermatologically tested appeared to be true.
After we were satisfied that she would not be left itching in delicate places, we put it to use. This started out well, nice and smooth with a very pleasant feeling on my member, but it did not last long. It was absorbed into my skin pretty quickly. The bottle did say that it is moisturising, and would leave skin soft and smooth, but this wasn’t the time that I wanted moisturising. After a second dose getting absorbed, getting quite tacky before being too dry to do it’s job, we actually went back to our standard water based lubricant.
We did use the Pjur Aqua Waterbased Lubricant on her, too. The natural moisture that she had did help to keep the Pjur liquid for longer, and felt good, but it was no better than our usual brand.
This a perfectly average water based lubricant, but it is not really worth the price asked of it. It is available in larger sizes, but it works out about twice as expensive as we would usually pay. We will keep the Pjur Aqua Waterbased Lubricant around for use as a travel lube, but we will not be replacing it when it runs out.
